Anthony Davis officially declines player option, becomes UFA

According to Yahoo! Sports sources, Lakers F/C Anthony Davis has declined his player option for $28.7M and will become an unrestricted free agent.
Fantasy Impact:
Davis was reportedly ready to opt-in to the final year of his contract but has since decided to test the free-agent market. He earned his first NBA title with the Lakers in the 2019-2020 season so they are still front runners to bring back AD on a new deal - possibly creating more cap space to sign another marquee free agent starting next week. More to come, but AD putting his name in the free-agent pool will be enticing for all NBA teams with the available cap space to lure the 7x All-Star.
