Former free agent forward Taj Gibson signed a deal on Thursday to return to the New York Knicks. Forward Omari Spellman will be waived to make room on the Knicks' roster, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski. (Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter)
Gibson is a favorite of current Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau due to the time the two spent together in Chicago. The veteran forward has a career average of 9.5 points and 6.3 rebounds and will bring his experience and grit to a young, upcoming Knicks team. Gibson could quickly earn minutes with the Knicks, as the front court for the second-unit is dealing with injuries to Kevin Knox II and rookie Obi Toppin. Fantasy managers can roster Gibson but should avoid starting him until he eases into a role backing up rising star forward Julius Randle.
