The Thunder announced on Wednesday that guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander would be out for an "extended period" and would miss "a significant amount of time" with plantar fasciitis in his right foot. (Bryan Keating via Twitter)
Well, this is a bummer, especially after SGA just poured in 31 points on Monday in a win over Minnesota. The team went on to say that it's been a "cumulative" issue that has been building up over time. SGA has posted top-50 fantasy value this season when healthy, but with the Thunder sitting at 19-24 entering Wednesday, they clearly won't be rushing their star guard back any time soon. One has to wonder how much he will play for the rest of the season while dealing with an injury that only heals with extended rest on a tanking team. Young guards Theo Maledon and Ty Jerome should see an uptick in fantasy value with SGA out of the lineup.
