The Boston Celtics announced the movement within their front office and coaching staff on Wednesday morning, as Brad Stevens has reportedly been "worn down" as the head coach. He will move into a more prominent front-office role within the organization, as Danny Ainge also announced he will be stepping down after spending 18 years in the Celtics' front office. Stevens will reportedly be tasked with player assessment for the draft, free agency, and trades, which are areas that Ainge oversaw during his tenure as the President of Basketball Operations. Now, the Celtics will turn their attention to its head coaching search for the upcoming 2021-22 NBA season.
