Jimmy Butler may need knee surgery in the offseason

It should not surprise anyone who has watched a Bulls game that Jimmy Butler is not the same player as he was before his knee injury. Before the knee injury, he was averaging 22.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. He was also shooting 46 percent from the field. Since his return however, Butler has averaged 15.8 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting an abysmal 39 percent from the floor. He lacks explosion while on offense now and admittedly passes it rather than attacking the rim. He also seems a tick slower defensively. Unfortunately, with just 11 regular-season games left and the Bulls fighting for a playoff spot, Butler has no time to rest. He was given a clean bill of health, but might need exploratory surgery in the offseason. (Chicago Sun Times)

Fantasy Impact:

Injuries are a frustrating part of sports. Seeing Butler play as a shell of himself is disheartening to say the least. He is no longer worth a look in DFS at his current salary. Unfortunately, you are probably stuck playing him in your yearly playoff rounds. The upside is that his assist numbers have increased by two per game, so not all is lost.
