Derrick Rose trade was bound to happen

by Jake Perper | Grizzlies Correspondent | Thu, Jun 23rd 7:23pm EDT

The Bulls sent hometown grown PG Derrick Rose packing on Wednesday along with G Justin Holiday and a 2017 second round pick to the New York Knicks for C Robin Lopez, PG Jose Calderon and G Jerian Grant.

Fantasy Impact:

The trade doesn't seem like much for the Bulls, but again Rose turns 28 in a couple months and hasn't played much due to devastating injuries the last couple of years. His expiring $21 million contract was sent packing after it is clear that he wasn't going to re-sign with the Bulls. Chicago moved on and now they pick up a mid-pack big man in Lopez, an expiring contract in veteran Calderon and a promising two-guard in Grant, a guy they liked a lot in last year's draft. Rose is a big name and the Bulls didn't get many back in return. But the rebuild in Chicago is on.
