Carmelo Anthony ready for season after resting the final preseason game

by Craig Rosenkrantz | Sun, Oct 23rd 9:26am EDT

Anthony closed out a productive exhibition slate with a preseason-high scoring total and a full stat sheet overall. The 14-year veteran tallied double-digit scoring in each of the five games he participated in and was proficient from beyond the arc, draining 10 of the 19 shots he took from long range. Despite the offseason additions of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah, the Knicks offense once again figures to primarily run through Anthony in the coming season. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

You come go to ‘Melo for the scoring, so the fact that his points per game have declined in three straight seasons, there is concern to be had. He did average a career-high in assists last season and with more offensive weapons around him, it would be logical to think that he can at least sustain that growth. Still, we need proof that he is going to be more efficient before we assume such, making him a tough sell unless on a very specific type of fantasy roster.
