Doc Rivers announced that Johnathan Motley will not be joining the Clippers in Orlando once the NBA restarts.
Fantasy Impact
Motley has not played a lot for the Clippers this season. He has spent more time with the Clippers' G League affiliate. Motley was not a significant player for the team and they will not regret their decision.
Johnathan Motley was named to the NBA all-G League second-team.
Fantasy Impact
Two-way power forward, Motley was named to the all-G League second-team. In 26 games, he averaged 24.0 points, 3.2 assists, and 8.1 rebounds per game and shot 52 percent from the floor, 34.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 75.3 percent from the free-throw line. Unlike his almost non-existent role in the Clipper’s rotation this season, he was provided ample opportunity while on the Agua Caliente Clippers to showcase his versatility. Motley’s high-performing play the past three years in the G-League has been very consistent; however, it remains to be seen if he can translate it to the “main” stage. Unfortunately, the Clippers have a deep front-court, which will prolong his wait for an opportunity to provide consistent and meaningful value to the team.
Johnathan Motley put in 10 points to go with four rebounds and a steal in 18 minutes off the bench on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
Motley was recently promoted from the G-League and saw his first significant playing time on Sunday. The youngster responded well, going 4-for-6 from the field. It remains to be seen how long he stays with the team and under what capacity that will be.
Johnathan Motley scored 21 points with six rebounds, one assist, and three turnovers in Tuesday's loss to the Phoenix Suns.
Fantasy Impact
Motley finished his rookie season on a high-note after scoring 20-plus points in 2-of-4 games. His performance over the final week of the season showed that he could push Dwight Powell and Maxi Kleber for a spot in the rotation next season.
Johnathan Motley scored just four points with five rebounds, and one assist in 16 minutes on Sunday against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Fantasy Impact
Motley was coming off a game in which he set multiple career-highs. He was looking like a safe bet for fantasy value with the Mavericks resting different players down the stretch but couldn't take advantage on Sunday. Fantasy owners should be looking elsewhere for plug-and-play fantasy value.
