After the Cardinals made the biggest splash of the offseason so far landing All-Star slugger Paul Goldschmidt, it appears the team isn't done dealing quite yet. Adding the power-hitting first baseman all but eliminates the need for Jose Martinez, which is why the team has already been in trade talks with other teams around the league. The team who has seems to be the most in on Martinez -- and were also trying to trade for Goldschmidt -- is Tampa Bay.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have been engaged in trade talks with the St. Louis Cardinals about a deal involving All-Star 1B Paul Goldschmidt. According to Derrick Goold, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the D-Backs won't grant Goldy and the Cardinals the usual 72-hour window to negotiate a contract extension in order for the trade to go through. Reportedly, the Cardinals were privy to that before entering negotiations, so that probably won't be a major snag as the teams continue to talk.
