FantasyPros
If you're looking for a running back who comes with top-six upside but also comes with a high-degree of uncertainty, Jones is your guy. He's the most talented running back on what should be a top-five scoring offense, but it appears the Packers haven't given up on Jamaal Williams just yet. He's ideally someone you snag as your second running back due to the risk associated with himIt was good to see Cooper go to Dallas and get consistent targets as that's something he was missing throughout his time in Oakland. He saw at least five targets in each of his nine games with the Cowboys, while seeing seven or more targets in 7-of-9 games. Because of that, he finished as the No. 4 wide receiver in fantasy from the time he joined them, behind only Antonio Brown, Davante Adams, and Julio Jones. He may not offer the consistency that those guys do, but not many do. Cooper should be on the low-end WR1 radar
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Among RBs with at least 130 carries in '18, saw 4th-lowest % of 8-man fronts (thank you, Aaron Rodgers) - GB wants to throw more to RBs which could be a further boon for Jones, assuming healthYou have to like what you saw from him in DAL - in 11 games, counting 2 playoff contests, he caught 66 passes for 896 yards and 7 TDs - dealing with heel strain, but apparently it's something he's managed to play through in the past
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Jones is an extremely efficient back with loads of upside in a new, favorable system. He just needs to put all of these soft tissue injuries in the rearview mirror.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Despite Mike McCarthy's best efforts to hold him back, Jones finally broke out last year. He has succeeded nearly every time he has been given a significant workload and has improved enough as a pass-blocker to warrant an every-down role. But he's battled a hamstring injury this preseason and Matt LaFleur has suggested that he intends to get Jamaal Williams and Dexter Williams some additional work. Still, Jones makes a solid RB2, as his spot in a strong offense and upside should mitigate much of his downside.Cooper was dynamic after a mid-season trade to the Cowboys and, absent injury concerns, he'd be a solid WR1 this year. But he has battled a foot injury all preseason, which has alternatively been referred to as plantar fasciitis, a strained heel, and a muscle strain. Whatever the injury is, it's clearly still bothering Cooper, and it's unclear if his availability for the Cowboys' first game is questionable. For now, fantasy owners should drop Cooper a few spots in their rankings. But don't let him slip too far absent word that his availability for the regular season is in doubt.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
In 2017, Cooper scored 52% of his fantasy points in just three games (most). In 2018, Cooper scored 52% of his fantasy points in just three games (most). @ScottBarrettDFB Cooper has been dealing with plantar fascia irritation which has caused him to miss practice and the Cowboys last two preseason games. This is something that could linger and affect practice time but should not affect meaningful games. There are ways to get players thru game day. @ProFootballDoc
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
While on the field, Jones was an elusive as any runner in the NFL. The issue, of course, was that Green Bay refused to use him like the three-down machine he can be. That may change with a new coach in town, but until we are certain he is a 300 touch guy, he will likely fall to the third round. Don't mistake that for meaning he doesn't have top 5 RB upside, however, because he most certainly does.Cooper has put up some historical numbers to start his career despite playing in an awful offense that refused to throw him the ball. It was no wonder he exploded with a new offense and better quarterback despite learning the playbook on the fly. The ceiling is enormous in his first full season with Dallas but there is also quite a bit of unknown too, particularly his plantar fasciitis.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Jones was one of the best running backs in the NFL in the 2nd half of the 2018 season. As long as the new coaching staff continues that usage, he should be a RB1 in 2019. He should also see more targets in the passing game, something the prior coaching staff did not do enough of last year.Cooper was a great addition to the Cowboys passing offense, but he is a little hit or miss in their run-heavy scheme. He is a low-end WR1 that should see a ton of targets in the passing game.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Aaron Jones 16 game-pace last season: 1047 yards rushing and 12 rushing TDs 300 receiving yards and 1 TD And keep in mind that he didn't get nearly as many touches as he deserved. He's dripping with upside.Amari Cooper's career high in TD's is 7. He's passed 1100 yards once. He's passed 75 catches once. He played 9 games for Dallas and put up FOUR games in which his stat line was less than or equal to 5/36/0. And you want to take him in the third round?
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Yes, Coop was a stud with Prescott looking at the surface numbers, but look close and see that it was regular ol' Coop. In 9 games with the Cowboys, Cooper put up single digits 4 times, under 15 7 times, and two monster games where he put up around 35 and 45. The inconsistencies continued.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Assuming he stays healthy, Aaron Jones is going to be a RB1 this season. He's the best RB on that depth chart by a mile, and he was fantastic when they finally gave him the workload he deserves. Jones had the most carries of 10+ yards of any RB with less than 150 carries last season, while he lead the league in YPC, and was 5th in percentage of runs that gain positive yards (Scott Barrett). The only concern with Jones is his health. He's suffered three separate MCL sprains, a pulled hamstring, and has just 4 career games over 15 carries...and exactly 0 games with 20 or more carries. We just don't know if he's capable of handling the workload we want. He's done everything he can over the offseason to try and get his body into perfect shape. He's down to 5.3% body fat as part of a new diet and workout strategy. At the end of the day, he's worth the gamble in the third round. All of the sure thing RB's are gone at this point, and you start to run out of RB's with top 10 upside. Jones absolutely has that sort of upside in his range of outcomes...he just needs to stay on the field.I love Amari Cooper this season. He's finally out of Oakland, and in a place where he can see consistent volume. Dak Prescott is by no means an elite QB, but he's a big upgrade from Derek Carr. In the 9 games after being traded last season Cooper averaged 6/80/0.67. He was used in all areas of the field, and he showed his weekly upside with 2 games over 180 yards and 2 scores. He did all of this after being traded in the middle of the season. Receivers usually struggle when they change teams during an offseason, so the fact that he was able to produce right away is incredible. After a full Summer to train with the team, I expect Cooper to have some monster games this season. I'd be very excited to get Cooper in the third round. That's the point in the draft where you should have locked up two stud skill position players already. So capturing the weekly upside of Cooper on top of that is a no brainer.
