Lineups
Denver clearly wants to establish the running game as more of a strength with the addition of Melvin Gordon, a top-ten fantasy back as recently as 2018. However, Philip Lindsay won't just go away as he's a very talented player and there are a lot of mouths to feed in this offense. Ultimately, Gordon's fantasy production will come down to a lot of factors he can't control and as much as I love the player, I don't love his current ADP.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
His system should hold A-Rod back to a degree, but it also should make him far more efficient. People are doubting Rodgers, and that's a bad idea.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
Signed to a two-year, 16 million deal in March with 13.5 million guaranteed, Gordon is expected to be the leader of a Denver backfield committee that includes Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman. He's unlikely to reach 1,000 rushing yards in 2020.For the first time since becoming Green Bay's starter in '08, Rodgers averaged fewer than 12 rushing yards per game in 2019. The result was him staying healthy for 16 games, but he doesn't contribute rushing production like the top-seven QBs on this list.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Your ranking may vary depending on how much you think P. Lindsay will eat into Gordon's workload, the money is on the former Charger seizing a sizable advantage
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
*Update* Gordon has tumbled down my big board since the start of training camp. Out of shape? Outplayed by Lindsey? Injured? Promised timesplit now? No, thanks.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Melvin Gordon to the Broncos is not as bad as most think. Gordon was clearly losing his role to Austin Ekeler and he now moves to an impressive run offense where he should be the clear lead guy. While Lindsay will clearly have a role, I expect Gordon to take the goal line carries, the 3rd down work and at least half of the between the tackles stuff making him the clear value in Denver. Given the Broncos backs combined for over 350 carries and 78 receptions, there's a lot of points to go around and Gordon should get the bulk of it. If Lindsay goes down there's always a chance he's a league winner too so the upside is there. Take a chance on him in the late 3rd round. In 2019, Matt Ryan had a disappointing year, only passing for over 300 yards in 11 games. So what? Well, Aaron Rodgers has passed for over 300 yards 11 times since 2016! To make matters worse, his TD numbers have tumbled, his green zone passing percentage has halved and he has absolutely no receiving quality behind Davante Adams. To make matters worse, the Packers "Brains Trust", and I use that term loosely, drafted a QB and RB in the first to rounds of the NFL draft and failed to pick up a receiver in perhaps the deepest receiving classes ever. I don't know what's going on in Green Bay but whatever it is, it's not good for Rodgers. ARod's Not Dead, but he's not looking great either.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
He left the Chargers at the right time, as they're going to be going through a transitional period. Instead, he joins a now-exciting Broncos offense that suddenly has tons of firepower. You don't add Gordon in free agency if you don't plan on using him as your lead back. The potential upside is that new offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur has been a one-back kind of guy, so it's possible that Phillip Lindsay is just there to give Gordon breathers when he needs them. With Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler, and Noah Fant out there are receiving threats, Gordon should see a lot of light fronts this year. He's a middling RB2 with RB1 upside if they decide to give him 15-plus touches per game. How did we get here? Rodgers was the poster child for consistency in fantasy football. He may not have had the Lamar Jackson upside, but you knew he would finish as a top-five quarterback as long as he was healthy. Last year was the first time he finished worse than the No. 7 quarterback while playing at least 10 games. His QB9 finish was worse than it appears at first sight. Rodgers actually finished with fewer than 15 fantasy points in 10-of-16 games. There were four games that essentially carried him through the season, and those games were against the Raiders, Giants, Chiefs, and Eagles. Three of those were among the worst in football. Fortunately, Rodgers has a semi-decent schedule in 2020, as he'll play the Lions twice, Panthers, Falcons, Texans, and Jaguars defenses during the fantasy season. Was it the new offense he was learning? Was it the lack of weapons to throw to? Neither has changed, so it's tough to say he'll return to the Rodgers we all know and love as fantasy players, but his cost doesn't reflect that it's even a possibility, as he's being drafted outside the top-10 quarterbacks. If you're one of those fantasy owners who refuses to spend up at quarterback, taking a shot on Rodgers in the eighth or ninth round would make plenty of sense. He's 36 years old and has seven top-two finishes under his belt.
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
Gordon's contract suggests workhorse duties, but don't forget about Phillip Lindsay. He has back to back 1k yard seasons (more than Gordon has in his career). His goal line work should give him a high season long floor, but MG3 may have more frustrating games than people think.
Frank Bonincontri
Fantasy Wire HQ
Same face, new place. Reports out of camp are that he looks "scary." I am all in considering what Phillip Lindsay was able to do last season. A savvy vet like Gordon should make himself right at home in the Denver offense. I expect a continuation of the Gordon/Ekeler combo now presented as the Gordon/Lindsay combo. Vic Fangio is old school and will definitely be running heavy to help out his young quarterback.Brady above Rodgers because of Evans/Godwin/Gronk. Who does 12 have? Adams/Jones and ????? I still believe in Aaron and I wouldn't write him off just yet. The chip on shoulder is back, no girlfriend for this season, odds are against him, to me, it looks like all of the pieces are in place....

Wasn't good since returning last year. Got signed to a $8 mil/year deal that should signal he is the bellcow for the Broncos. Hasn't been efficient as a runner in the NFL, but has more been a volume player. Lindsay and Freeman lurk and could leave Gordon as a leader in a committee rather than a workhorse.

Packer Report
The Broncos backfield looks like it could be the trickiest one to figure out in all of football. They paid to bring in Gordon but still roster a young and highly-talented RB in Phillip Lindsay. I see this being a near 50/50 split which is never a good thing for fantasy owners.Everyone is looking at Aaron Rodgers like a fantasy thing of the past when in reality he could be at his most dangerous in 2020. In his very first year in Matt Lafleur's system, Rodgers threw 26 TDs and 4 INTs. Now, in his second year in the system and the assuming Davante Adams can stay healthy for 16 games, we could see vintage Rodgers again. Don't forget, two years ago he was QB6.

Gordon's going to be splitting time with Phillip Lindsay this season, but Gordon should be the lead back in this offense. The Broncos are going to want to run the ball and Gordon should easily see over 210 carries this year. He's a solid RB2 option for your fantasy rosters. All indications right now are that the Packers want to build their team around the run game and take the ball out of Rodgers' hands. It's asinine, but that appears to be their plan for this season. Because of that, we could see Rodgers' overall pass attempts diminish, which puts a ceiling on his fantasy output this season. He'll still be in the weekly starter conversation, but it's unlikely that we see him finish in the top-5 at the position.

After years of statistical decline, 40yo Brett Favre posted career highs in Comp%, Y/A, QB rating while throwing 33TDs on a run 1st team. @ClutchFantasy

1 year to go off because Vic, and his OC Scangarello don't have much history at their current positions. Denver was an average ball running team in 2019. 409 attempts. The 100 RB targets were nice. Someone is going to disappear out of this offense. I think it's assumed to be Royce, I can believe that, but what roll do they plan on losing Lindsay in? Breather back? He can not pass block, Royce is the best on the team for that. So Lindsay now appears to lose out in every phase, one way or another to his teammates, might see less work than anticipated.

When Gordon is healthy, he is capable of 1,500 yards from scrimmage and double digit touchdowns. He should be the lead back in Denver, but it will be a very crowded RBBC.Rodgers is not what he once was as a runner, finishing with just 46 rushing attempts for 183 yards and 1 touchdown. He also had only 4,002 yards passing and 26 passing touchdown. The combination of a more run-oriented offense and him not running much has caused him to drop to a high-end QB2.
