Pack to the Future
Peterson once again finds himself in a starting role, albeit on what will likely be an underwhelming Washington offense. Expect rookie Antonio Gibson to see a decent amount of work, especially in the passing game but Peterson will still have value in standard leagues. He should also see the bulk of the goal-line carries. With Melvin Gordon now in Denver, Justin Jackson should enter 2020 as the RB2 for the Chargers. Given that Austin Ekeler is much more of a receiving threat, Jackson could find himself in a good spot as the Thunder to Ekeler's lightning. It will be key for Jackson to establish himself as the goal-line rusher for him to have a chance at being fantasy relevant in 2020.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It's remarkable what Peterson's been able to do at 33 and 34 years old, compiling nearly 2,000 rushing yards over the last two seasons, but now 35 years old and in a new offense with tons of competition, it's hard to see him making a difference in fantasy football. He's still likely to command 10-15 carries per game and maybe get goal-line duties, so he could fill in for a few weeks in flex spots for those who are desperate. We all watched Raheem Mostert take off during the 2019 season, right? He had tremendous numbers when on the field in his earlier years, just like Jackson, who's averaged 5.14 yards per carry over his career to this point. Jackson is going to be fighting for playing time with fourth-round rookie Joshua Kelley this year trying to earn that Melvin Gordon role. It seems likely that the Chargers want Kelley in that role, but is Jackson good enough for them to change their course? It's a situation to monitor, as this will be a run-heavy team.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
With the recent news that Derrius Guice has been released by Washington, Adrian Peterson is the main beneficiary. While Peyton Barber, JD McKissic, and Antonio Gibson are all going to be involved in this offense too, AP should be moving up draft boards. He'll be a borderline RB3/RB4 this season and should be a consistent option to plug into your lineups on bye weeks, etc.One of Justin Jackson or Joshua Kelley is going to be the starting RB alongside Austin Ekeler in this Chargers backfield. It's a mystery as to who it will be right now, but one of them is going to be valuable for fantasy football. If you can guess right, you may have a FLEX-type RB option that you got in one of the last rounds of your draft. At their current ADPs, both Jackson and Kelley are worth taking shots on.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
It's becoming increasingly likely Adrian Peterson somehow leads this backfield again. AD was very solid in 2019 and clearly still has the juice to be an NFL running back. While the sensible approach would be giving the many youngsters a proper chance, it's very possible Peterson is the starter and with the release of Derrius Guice, he's now a low-end starter who comes with plenty of job security risk.I'm backing Joshua Kelley to take the coveted Chargers big man role this season, but Jackson is still a possibility. Either way, there's rather limited upside for the winner so it's a gamble worth avoiding.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Peterson admittedly continues to run well despite his advanced age, but given his situation, there's next to zero chance that he turns into someone you can start at any point. The Washington backfield consists of Peterson, Derrius Guice, Peyton Barber, J.D. McKissic, Antonio Gibson, and Bryce Love, and to the extent one back could break out of that pack, it's likely to be Guice. On a team going nowhere with a sub-par offense, there's no reason to waste a pick on Peterson.Jackson has been effective in limited work in his career, but has always been third in the pecking order in the Chargers backfield. With Melvin Gordon now in Denver, Jackson has a real chance to see consistent touches for the first time in his career. Austin Ekeler doesn't have the frame to stand up to a workhorse role, and he had fumble issues near the goal-line last year. Joshua Kelley is a threat to Jackson, but with a limited offseason, Jackson should get first crack at seeing roughly 10 touches per game and perhaps goal-line work behind Ekeler.

Chargers 'still very high on' RB Justin Jackson. he's an intriguing under the radar RB. -Only RB with 30+ touches to have a juke rate over 30% in each of the past 2 seasons. -1 of 5 RBs to have 1k+ ru yds and 20+ rec in every college season. (Joined by Saquon, Dalvin, and Dobbins). @DaltonGuruFF
