Pack to the Future
As a rookie on the Titans, there weren't very high expectations for Brown in 2019. Well, he proved everyone wrong catching 52 passes for 1.051 yards and eight TDs. Now he enters year two with Ryan Tannehill as his QB and could solidify himself as a reliable fantasy WR2.Even while catching balls from Mitch Trubisky, Allen Robinson was a legitimate stud in 2019 catching 98 passes for 1,147 yards and seven TDs. Now, he may get an upgrade at QB with Nick Foles in Chicago. Similarly to many players, COVID will impact his ability to work with his new QB but once they get on the same page, we could see a more dangerous Robinson than ever.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
We all know Brown was a monster over the second half of the season, finishing as the No. 8 wide receiver from Week 7 through Week 16. The issue... he was 47th in targets over that span. That screams regression. While he should progress as a player in his second season, we must anticipate regression with his efficiency. In a run-first offense, Brown should be considered a WR2/3 with upside for more. The Bears offense revolves around Robinson, plain and simple. They didn't fix the offensive line, which means running the ball will be difficult again. They also didn't replace Taylor Gabriel's 5.6 targets per game that he was receiving under Matt Nagy with anyone noteworthy in the draft or free agency. There's a realistic scenario where Robinson sees 150-plus targets this year. If you want to go RB heavy in the first few rounds, Robinson could make for a solid low-end WR1.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Brown was the first wide receiver ever to put up at least 1,000 receiving yards on fewer than 90 targets, but the achievements don't stop there. He was third in yards per route run among wide receivers with at least 50 targets, second in passer rating when targeted, and first in yards per target. And that's to say nothing of the fact that Brown did all of this as a rookie who didn't even play at least 69.4% of the snaps until Week 9. The Titans aren't going to be a pass-heavy offense but Brown should still see an increase in targets, which should offset any decrease in his efficiency. Expect another big year from the wideout.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Brown established himself as one of the premier deep threats in the league as a rookie with 52 receptions, 1,051 yards, 20.2 yards per reception, and 8 touchdowns. He is the Titans lead receiver and he should be a WR1 playing with QB Ryan Tannehill.Robinson was the lone bright spot in the passing game, finishing 2019 with 1149 yards from scrimmage and 7 touchdowns. I think whether Nick Foles or Mitchell Trubisky is the starter, he is a WR2 capped by a dicey QB situation.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Last season, Ryan Tannehill ranked first in True Throw Value (TTV). A stat created by brotofantasy.com, true throw value measures a QB's efficiency throwing the ball. This certainly played into Brown's absurd efficiency last season, but I am happily doubling down on it. If you take a look at Tannehill's TTV two seasons ago with Miami, he finished 6th for all QBs. So Tannehill's efficiency is no fluke and neither is AJ Brown's skillset.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Brown's not going to be able to repeat his unsustainable efficiency in 2020, but he could see his target totals go up. Ryan Tannehill trusts him and he's likely to be a fringe WR1 all season long. I'm absolutely comfortable taking Brown at his current ADP as my WR2.There are very few players that we can claim who could finish as the No. 1 overall fantasy WR this season. Robinson is one of those players with his skillset and the offense that he's in. If Nick Foles is the starting QB, this offense is going to be able to move the ball more effectively than they did last season, which means even more scoring opportunities and targets for the receiving options. Anthony Miller is Robinson's only real threat for targets in this offense and Robinson was incredibly productive last season with Mitchell Trubisky throwing him the ball. Robinson saw 154 targets and 98 receptions in 2019 and there's a possibility we see that number go up this year. Don't miss out on drafting Robinson, especially when you factor in his ADP right now.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
AJ Brown was by far my favourite WR prospect last year but even I didn't expect his enormous late-season breakout. With teams focussed on the Titans' running game, Brown was tremendously efficient, averaging over 20 yards per reception in an extraordinary display of efficiency. That won't happen again. While Brown should see a big jump in targets compared to his 84 last season, I can see massive TD and efficiency regression making him a risky weekly play. He is likely to have a lot of bust weeks and quite a few huge weeks. If you can handle that variance, go for it, I prefer a little more safety outside Best Ball leagues of course, where he's a stud.Allen Robinson turned back the clock in 2019, parlaying his first healthy season in three years into a WR11 finish. The most impressive aspect of his effort was the volume he received, with 18 more receptions than his breakout 1400 year sophomore season. While the emergence of Anthony Miller may threaten that volume, the release of Taylor Gabriel should mean A-Rob is locked into 150-odd targets. Given the possible positive efficiency regression if this offence takes a must needed step forward, Robinson is a real chance for a massive season. He's great value in the early 3rd round but can be taken even later than that.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
In the final seven games, he earned a solid No. 1 role with 25% of the team's targets and 38% of their air yards; resulting in 622 receiving yards in those games. - He was noticeably absent in the playoffs which scares me a bit.Since being drafted (2014), among WRs w 300+ targets, ARob is: - 17th in PPR pg (14.32) - 12th Targets pg (8.78) - 20th in Rec pg (4.93) - 18th in YPG (65.96) - 13th in Rec TDs (33) with nothing at QB @FF_MarvinE
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Was the lipstick on Bears' piggish offense in 2019 with Top 10 WR finish in FAN PTS - sounds crazy, but Foles arguably best passing QB he's ever been paired with
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Started playing 65% of the snaps or more in week 9. From that point: 6.25 targets a game, 30/703/5, with the occasional rush. He was nice enough to make that an 8 game sample so just x2 for fun. Growing into a stud, struggled down the stretch but that encouraging thing is that he was very successful against man coverage. Where he faltered was zone coverage, and I think that's something he'll improve on with his work ethic and as he see's the field better. Former Saints DB, Kenny Vaccaro, is constantly telling AJ, "Mike(Michael Thomas) would still be working right now", really helping to instill a good work ethic on Brown, knowing what it takes to be the best. The problem? PASSING VOLUME. With Tanny under center the Titans averaged 27 attempts per game, they were already 31st overall, that would put them 32nd.Never had fewer than 5 targets in any game. Super consistent despite the QB play.
