McCaffrey blew up in 2018 and it's got everyone reaching for him as a top-three selection in 2019. It's fair and you shouldn't shy away from the three-down back, but you should know that the Panthers have openly talked about scaling back his workload. He's still likely to finish as a top-five option at the position even if he loses 4-to-6 touches per game, as he's gamescript-proof and it's not as if Cam Newton is rushing for as many touchdowns as he used to.With Mark Ingram's departure, many are likely wondering what it means for Kamara, though the acquisition of Latavius Murray tells us a lot. He's likely going to walk into the old Ingram role, though it's important to note that it's no guarantee he's able to fit in this offense. You remember Adrian Peterson with the Saints, right? He was able to go to the Redskins and get it done, so maybe Sean Payton's offense just isn't right for everyone. Because of that, Kamara gets a slight bump in upside which was already high to begin with, as he has finished as the RB3 and RB4 in his first two seasons with Ingram on the roster.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Talk that CAR might try to scale back workload after CMC's 326 touches in '18 (finishing RB3 in half PPR scoring), but the team certainly hasn't backed up its RB in a manner that indicates that is truly the planHas led RBs in Half-PPR FAN PTS per Touch in each of his first 2 NFL campaigns (min. 200 touches per season) - with Mark Ingram off to BAL, good shot at 1st 300-touch campaign
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
I'm not hearing the chatter that CMAC could lose red-zone looks. As long as you get PPR love in your league, this dude has to be a top-5 lock. The Saints say Kamara's role won't balloon, but they have to know it should. If he gets the touches he got when Mark Ingram was out last year, look out.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
In 2018, Christian McCaffrey scored: -More rushing fantasy points than Melvin Gordon, Nick Chubb, or Marlon Mack; - More receiving fantasy points than Odell Beckham Jr., Amari Cooper, or Tyler Lockett; - More passing fantasy points than Nathan Peterman, DeShone Kizer, or Mark Sanchez. (Those three combined for 158 total pass attempts.) @ScottBarrettDFB
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
McCaffrey's usage last year was almost comical - he was on the field for 91% of the snaps and got nearly 100% of the running back touches for the Panthers. If you've seen pictures of him this offseason, you know he has bulked up, which is necessary if he's going to continue at anything close to the rate the Panthers utilized him last year. There's still no one of consequence behind him and so he should again see a massive workload. So long as he can again stay healthy, it's hard to envision him finishing outside the top four running backs even in standard formats.Kamara has seen more than 100 targets in each of his first two seasons, and is a dynamic pass-catcher for a running back. As he did the previous two seasons with Mark Ingram, Kamara is going to cede plenty of work to Latavius Murray, who signed a fairly hefty contract. But Kamara doesn't need 20-plus touches per game to be an elite fantasy option. The offense runs through him, Drew Brees, and Michael Thomas, and it should be more of the same this year. He's one of the truly elite and safe players in the game today.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
CMC is going to be a stud yet again this season. The former 4th overall pick now has 187 receptions over his first two seasons, including 107 last season. He also showed that he can produce in the TD department with 13 total TD's. There are two main knocks I have with him. One is the rushing yardage. He's a great RB, but he doesn't have the same sort of rushing yard upside as some of the other RB's do. The second is the TD's. The 13 TD's were great, but 12 of them occurred in weeks 7-13. That means that he had just one total TD in weeks 1/2/3/4/5/6/14/15/16. I'm not saying that he can't post more consistent numbers, but I trust the TD production of Kamara and Barkley just a little bit more. With all this being said, the dude is going to have 80+ receptions, and he's going to be involved every aspect of the offense. He needs to be taken in the top 5 of drafts.I shouldn't really need to sell you on Kamara, but I'll do so anyways. Kamara has turned in back to back top 4 RB seasons, scoring a jaw dropping 31 TD's over his first two seasons. The crazy part is, he's done so on less than 320 total carries, and still hasn't been over 900 rushing yards. Kamara could finish as the #1 fantasy running back, even if he sees less than 200 carries. There isn't a single other RB you can say that about. He's got the most secure TD floor or any back in football, and he's game script proof thanks to his receiving ability (81 receptions in back to back seasons). I have no problem if you want to draft Kamara first overall. He's that safe and that good.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
McCaffrey was exceptional last year with 1,965 yards from scrimmage. It certainly helped that he saw 107 receptions, likely because Cam Newton was playing with an injured shoulder, but let's not forget that he was only given 219 carries which could certainly increase if his passing workload decreases. McCaffrey is as safe of a week to week and season-long play as you'll find.Kamara has managed to finish as a top five fantasy running back in each season despite only being a workhorse for four games in that stretch. Now that Mark Ingram is gone, there is a chance he runs away with the league lead in fantasy points like Gurley did the last two seasons. With that said, Latavius Murray may jump right into Ingram's role and perhaps even vulture extra touchdowns.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
CMC proved last year that he can be a workhorse back at the NFL level and I expect nothing less from him this season. If Newton's shoulder is completely healed, this Panthers offense has the potential to be dynamic and CMC will be at the center of it. Expect huge reception numbers yet again from McCaffrey!Mark Ingram is now out of town and this leaves Kamara the likely leader of the Saints' backfield. While I'm not projecting anything over 215 carries for Kamara, he's going to see as many targets in the receiving game as he can handle. In any form of PPR, Kamara's a top-tier RB1 for your fantasy team in 2019.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
McCaffrey was the 3rd ranked running back in fantasy football last year and he is one of the best duel-threat running backs in the NFL.Kamara is one of the most explosive running backs in the NFL and he has 32 total touchdowns in 31 games. He should continue being an elite fantasy football option.
