Lineups
Alvin Kamara's recent contract negotiations have sent many a fantasy fan into a state of panic, but it seems like the two sides are very close to a mutually beneficial deal. With the Saints hanging onto a closing Super Bowl window, I have little doubt Kamara will be on the field Week 1. He dealt with some brutal injuries last season and didn't look like the same player, but he should be back to full health and back to b eing a top-5 fantasy back. One of the key players of the NFL offseason has been DeAndre Hopkins who forced a trade from the Texans to the Cardinals before receiving a massive 2-year extension from the team that will make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. Hopkins is arguably the best receiver in the NFL, but historically, the first season for a receiver on a new team has often been disappointing. The Cardinals will spread the ball around more than the Texans did and Kyler Murray had a lower yards per attempt last season than any of Watson's three seasons. Hopkins is still an elite talent with an elite quarterback, just don't expect quite the same elite volume.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Nuk is awesome and should thrive in Arizona, but the Cardinals may not funnel him targets like Houston did. He's a top-10 producer, but he may not crack the top-5.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Kamara and the Saints appear to be heading towards getting a contract extension done, but there are potential injury concerns hanging over Kamara and his season-long outlook. Kamara has already reportedly had an epidural to help with some ailments and that's extremely concerning. If you're still drafting this week, based on the information we have available to us, I'm moving Kamara down a couple of spots on my draft board. Kamara lands at RB6 right now with Dalvin Cook and Joe Mixon ahead of him in Half PPR format.Hopkins will have a change of scenery in 2020, but that doesn't mean that we should expect a significant drop-off in production. Hopkins may not see the overall target totals that he has in years past, but he's still connected to a dynamic offense and will see plenty of scoring opportunities. Hopkins is a locked-in WR1 this season yet again.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
The chess piece of the Saints' passing game, Kamara gets the ball on a variety of routes coming out of the backfield. He figures to receive a similar workload as last season with Latavius Murray expected to get in the neighborhood of 10 touches per game in 2020.This year's most notable trade acquisition, Hopkins was acquired from Houston in mid-March along with a fourth-round pick for RB David Johnson and a second-round pick. Providing Arizona with the formidable perimeter threat that was lacking in the first season of head coach Kliff Kingsbury's Air Raid offense, Hopkins will be the focal point of the Cardinals' passing game.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Alvin Kamara had an absolute shocker in 2019. Despite no change in his rushing and receiving opportunities, Kamara dropped five points a game. There are myriad reasons for this massive change but most of them suggest a rebound is on the cards. Kamara battled knee and ankle injuries throughout last season and these really lowered his usually incredible efficiency and effectiveness. His TD numbers dropped by nearly a TD a game as well, which played a significant part in his drop in points. These should mostly regress, but it is worth noting his red zone looks halved last year and that will have an impact if things. Ultimately he's a great rebound candidate but he does come with some very real risk, especially given his recent holdout news. He's a very risky but high-upside pick in the first round.DeAndre Hopkins has long been an elite NFL receiver. Outside a frustrating 2016, he's consistently put up sensational fantasy numbers. Now with the Cardinals, he becomes a great unknown again. Kyler Murray isn't Deshaun Watson but in an offense that is trending upwards, it looks like there will be plenty of targets for Nuk to make hay. The key concern for me is whether Hopkins and Murray can develop enough chemistry during the shortened pre-season to allow the receiver to make an immediate impact. That's the key reason I'd avoid taking him in the first round of most leagues.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
There's just one running back who's had a higher "boom" percentage (25-plus PPR points) than Kamara over the course of their careers, and that's Christian McCaffrey. Kamara has now topped 25 PPR points in 14 of his 45 career games, which is quite ridiculous. His 2019 season was easily his worst to date, though he still finished as the RB12 despite missing two games. The Saints offense continues to groove, and though Drew Brees is still playing great football, his arm strength is declining, which could lead to more targets than every for Kamara, who's averaged 6.7 targets per game over the first three years in a Saints uniform. Provided he doesn't get hurt, Kamara is a near-lock to finish as a top-six running back.Did you know Hopkins hasn't seen less than 150 targets since way back in 2014? Now going to a Cardinals team with Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald, it's unlikely he reaches that mark. The odd offseason also hasn't given him a lot of time with new quarterback Kyler Murray. From reports, the first time the duo got together was at the end of June. Is that enough time to develop any sort of chemistry? Hopkins has played with a lot of bad quarterbacks in his time, though the only one who held him back from producing was Brock Osweiler, as Hopkins finished as the No. 29 wide receiver in 2016 despite seeing 151 targets. Murray's rookie season wasn't particularly efficient (both Fitzgerald and Kirk saw over 105 targets but outside the top-36 wide receivers), but we should expect growth in year two. There is a scenario where Hopkins is a rock-solid player but not a top-five fantasy receiver, however, given his history of producing with guys like Tom Savage, TJ Yates, and Brian Hoyer, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Still, his targets will take a hit, making him a second-round pick rather than the first-round one he's been.

The addition of Emmanuel Sanders provides a bit more balance for the offense and will keep defenses honest. Kamara will not have to shoulder the workloadHopkins can take the Cards offense to a new level and see how his talent stacks up in the NFC for 2020.

Kamara cited an injury in 2019, his touchdown totals should increase and he's the focal point of one of the best offenses in football.Avoid receivers switching teams. Even OBJ couldn't overcome it. The Cardinals offense is unique, so 'Nuk' has a chance to produce big numbers, but history tells us his ADP is dangerous

Kamara seems like one of the safest players in fantasy as long as he's on the field. Three consecutive years recording 81 receptions is incredible and Drew Brees is going to continue to target him constantly. My only fears are injury-related. If Kamara plays 16 games in 2020 he will easily finish as a top-5 back. You can make the argument that DeAndre Hopkins is the league's most talented WR but in terms of fantasy, I have some concerns. He is going from an offense in which he dominated target share to an offense that is based on spreading around the football. I still expect Hopkins to play great he just may not get the volume to finish as a top-3 fantasy WR.

Alvin Kamara apparently tore up his knee week 5 of 2019 which likely had a lot to do with "down" year. In this "down" year, he still ended as RB12. Now that he is healthy, he has as high of a ceiling as anyone.

Coming off an RB9 season, but didn't play at full health. Elite pass-catcher out of the backfield in one of the most friendly fantasy RB situations out there. Expecting a bounce back to his elite PPR scoring.

Top 4 RB in each of 1st 2 NFL seasons before health and loss of QB Brees for 5 games helped sink him to RB No. 9 in '19 - give him a mulliganHas averaged more than 100 catches the past 5 seasons and moves into the go-to role in Cards' pass-friendly attack - should be at least business as usual in ARI

Despite going from 18 TDs to 6 TDs, Kamara still finished as the RB9 in FP/g in half PPR and the RB8 in FP/g in PPR while playing through injuries. If you give him the same amount of TDs he got in his rookie year (13), he would've gotten 42 (7x6) more fantasy points which would've put his half PPR total at 250 fpts, good for RB7 in half PPR and RB5 in PPR. Kamara with those totals would've averaged 17.9 fpts (250/14) and 21.4 fpts (300/14). Those totals would've been good for RB5 (0.5PPR) and RB2 (PPR). I expect Kamara to have closer to 13 TDs rather than 6 TDs, so use your first round pick on him confidently.

Kamara was pretty disappointing in 2019, considering he was a Top-3 fantasy pick. He finished the year with 1,330 yards from scrimmage, but just 6 touchdowns. I think he is likely to rebound in 2020 and he should have RB1 value.Hopkins slipped in 2019, he averaged only 11.2 yards per reception and he tallied only 7 touchdowns. He could have a new lease on life in Arizona playing with QB Kyler Murray. Hopkins is still an elite WR1.

The Draft Zone
Alvin Kamara scored 106 less PPR points in 2019 than 2018. 84 of them were due to him only finding the endzone 6 times instead of 18 in 2018. -1,592 yards in from scrimmage in 2018 and 1,330 in 2019 -Caught the same amount of passes at 81 -Only had 2 TDs heading into Week 16Deandre Hopkins 2019: Age 27, 150 targets, 104 receptions, 1183 yards, 7 TDs, 18 ppr/ppg DLF ADP: 1.07 (WR2). Since 2009, only 26.0% of WRs to average 10+ PPG and then change teams have improved their PPG in the following season. Change the PPG threshold to 12 and that number drops to 20.9%. At 15 it's 0.0%. Hopkins posted 111 - 1521 - 11 TDs with Hoyer, Mallett, Yates and Weeden.

Crossroads Fantasy Football
He's really been the same, consistent player since entering the league. 725-900 yards on the ground. 81 receptions EVERY.SINGLE.YEAR. The ups and downs have been based on health, TDs, and how productive he can be through the passing game.ARZ in year 1 with Kyler and Kliff: 554 ATT. ATL led the league with 684 ATT. Other top teams ranged from 633 to 589 in the top 12. So PERHAPS some upward mobility of 30-70 ATT in 2020. Distribution in 2019: Kirk 108 Fitz 109 RBS 103 This leaves plenty of space for Hopkins to still dominate. Smaller pieces will get their small shares but NUK is fine as far as I'm concerned. And how about that RB share? Might run into a similar problem as OBJ, when he left NY. Nuk had a heavy 29% market share in Houston last year(2nd best in the league). The leading target getter of every week over the course of the season in ARZ last year had a target share of 25%. This was an argument with OBJ going to CLE, and the love he got from Eli vs the unknown of CLE. We made the crossroads point of good players earning more targets but OBJ did not overcome, Nuk might not overcome in ARZ. A 25% target share would still be very good for Nuk, just not the volume he enjoyed over his time in Houston. Could theoretically be a 13% knock in production from opportunity. All just made up numbers but we're looking for reasons to knock players down in this area, not highlight why we know they're good.

Love his fit in Arizona's Air Raid. No reason for him to regress, if anything his weekly volume should be even more secure. The PERFECT fit as a broken play 50/50 winner with sneaky verticality.
