FantasyPros
Despite plenty of other receiving options in this offense, Cooper continues to shine for fantasy purposes. Through Week 5 last year - which is when Dak went down with his injury - Cooper was the WR13 in all of fantasy football. Even with Lamb performing at a very high level right away, Cooper was still a fantastic fantasy asset to have on your roster. Heading into 2021, we should see Dallas air the ball out a ton again and Cooper's going to be the favorite to lead this team in targets. He's a fantastic high-end WR2 to add to your fantasy lineup. It's true, the injury history is adding up for OBJ and making it more and more difficult to select him in fantasy drafts each season. With that being said, he's now coming at enough of a discount that it's not going to significantly damage your team if Beckham misses time yet again. The upside is still there for someone of Beckham's talent and he has the potential to be a very reliable asset for your lineup in 2021. Due to the offensive philosophy, we're probably never going to see OBJ max out with 12+ targets in a single game, but he's simply too talented to not return value on where he's being drafted if he stays healthy. Adding OBJ as your WR2 or WR3 if you load up on RBs early in your draft is a great strategy this year.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Remember when Cooper was labeled as a "boom or bust" receiver during his Oakland days? While with the Cowboys, that hasn't been the case at all. He's now been a WR2 or better in 20-of-41 games with the Cowboys, which amounts to 48.8 percent. That number is the exact same as Stefon Diggs' career number. It's higher than Terry McLaurin's 48.3 percent. The emergence of CeeDee Lamb may take some of the upside potential away from Cooper, but he's still a great high-end WR2 to have on your fantasy team.Let's do an exercise... How many targets per game do you anticipate Beckham getting this year? I'm going with an extremely low number and say he averages 6.5 targets per game. That sounds more than reasonable, right? Beckham had 7.0 targets per game during the 2020 season before getting hurt and that includes a three-target game against the Steelers. The Browns were also throwing the ball a lot less early in the year as Baker Mayfield was still getting grasp on Kevin Stefanski's playbook. If Beckham gets 6.5 targets per game, that'd put him on pace for 104 targets, which again, is what I'd consider low. There were just 32 receivers in the NFL who hit that number last year, with 24 of them (75 percent) finishing as top-24 receivers and just two finishing worse than WR38. You mean to tell me with Beckham's talent, he can't produce top-24 numbers? There's health risks for sure, but there's also top-five wide receiver upside.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Here were my points against Beckham last year as a top 15-WR: he had finished as the WR83, WR16, and WR26 in the previous three seasons, the Vikings ran the ball 48% of the time under Kevin Stefanski (fourth most in the NFL) and so he'd never approach his customary 10 targets per game, and he's an injury risk. Well, the Browns ran the ball 48% of the time last year (fourth most in the NFL), Beckham received seven targets per game, and he lost much of the season due to injury. All the concerns over Beckham hold true this year except for his price, which is now as the 25th WR in half-PPR ADP. Beckham will certainly have some boom games and the Browns' offense should improve this year in Stefanski's second year, but the lack of target volume is going to put a ceiling on Beckham's value. Fantasy managers are drafting him as a borderline WR2 - that's exactly what he is.
Mark Ringo
Sleepers and Busts
Dak's injury destroyed the Cowboys offense last year. Their line was also decimated. Things should be better in 2021. That bodes well for Cooper. There should be more TDs in 2021. He'll have to compete with Cee Dee Lamb to get them though. That's easier said than done. Cooper is a steady top 15 WR. It's hard to see him produce much better than that though. Also note Amari injured his ankle in May. He might not be ready for training camp. Keep an eye on this as the summer unfolds. At his current ADP (48th overall), It might be time to let Amari to fly the fantasy coop.Odell Beckham is one of my favorite players. That three finger catch he made against Dallas on Sunday Night Football saved my bacon and got me into the playoffs. The concerns, and they are big ones, are 1.) Beckham is coming off a torn ACL. He hurt it late Oct 2020 and had surgery in early Nov. Those usually take two years for players to feel normal. The stopping and starting for WRs is even tougher to come back from than say for a QB. He could reinjure it if he comes back too soon. He also might lack the confidence it holds up and not play like his old self. 2.) The Browns are a run oriented team. Even if he was 100% healthy coming into the season his targets will be more limited than if he were on a passing team. For those reasons I'm down on Beckham in 2021 even though he's one of the most talented WRs in the NFL.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Cooper had 190.8 fantasy points, despite Dak Prescott missing most of the season. Cooper feels like he should be a solid WR2 if Dak is back in 2021, but I could see Lamb becoming the featured receiver in the offense in 2021 with Cooper being the deep threat.OBJ is on track to be back with the Browns in Week 1 coming off an ACL injury. He is a WR3 that will have a few big games on one of the more run oriented offenses in the NFL.
Kevin Wheeler
The Draft Zone
Cooper may not be ready for training camp as he rests with hopes that an irritation in his ankle will calm down.
Joe Pisapia
FantasyPros
Amari Cooper has had the boom or bust label for many years, but he's found a bit more consistency in Dallas. With Dak Prescott back and healthy, Cooper is poised for a strong '21 campaign, but outside of more TDs (just 5 last year), I wouldn't be looking for higher receiving stats, with CeeDee Lamb sure to see plenty of volume from the slot. Cooper is a 1A fantasy WR, but better suited as your #2.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
Was the WR3 prior to Dak's injury. Huge that Dak is returning.
