FantasyPros
It was good to see Cooper go to Dallas and get consistent targets as that's something he was missing throughout his time in Oakland. He saw at least five targets in each of his nine games with the Cowboys, while seeing seven or more targets in 7-of-9 games. Because of that, he finished as the No. 4 wide receiver in fantasy from the time he joined them, behind only Antonio Brown, Davante Adams, and Julio Jones. He may not offer the consistency that those guys do, but not many do. Cooper should be on the low-end WR1 radarIt was a solid rookie year for Michel, who finished as the RB28 despite missing three full games. The issue with expecting a massive jump in production is his lack of usage in the passing game (just seven receptions in 13 games), and the third-round draft pick of Damien Harris, as he's a threat to steal some early-down work. Still, Michel should provide RB2 value as long as he's healthy
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
You have to like what you saw from him in DAL - in 11 games, counting 2 playoff contests, he caught 66 passes for 896 yards and 7 TDs - dealing with heel strain, but apparently it's something he's managed to play through in the pastAdmittedly, there's some fear of his balky knee, and a little usage uncertainty with Belichick's history of pulling the backfield strings, but his preseason's been strong and the backfield is lucrative (NE top 6 in RB half-PPR FAN PTS each of past 4 seasons)
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Michel was great last year, but he's had some health questions and New England has approximately one thousand running backs. He should be higher, but I can't do it.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Cooper was dynamic after a mid-season trade to the Cowboys and, absent injury concerns, he'd be a solid WR1 this year. But he has battled a foot injury all preseason, which has alternatively been referred to as plantar fasciitis, a strained heel, and a muscle strain. Whatever the injury is, it's clearly still bothering Cooper, and it's unclear if his availability for the Cowboys' first game is questionable. For now, fantasy owners should drop Cooper a few spots in their rankings. But don't let him slip too far absent word that his availability for the regular season is in doubt.Michel dealt with a preseason knee injury that bothered him some during the season, but he came on during the fantasy (and real-life) playoffs, showing his upside. When the Patriots spent a third-round pick on Damien Harris, fantasy owners got worried, but Harris reportedly has not gotten many reps this summer. The backfield in New England is still crowded with James White and Rex Burkhead, but with no Rob Gronkowksi, the Patriots are likely to lean on the run a bit more. That makes Michel an RB2, though one that is better in standard formats.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
In 2017, Cooper scored 52% of his fantasy points in just three games (most). In 2018, Cooper scored 52% of his fantasy points in just three games (most). @ScottBarrettDFB Cooper has been dealing with plantar fascia irritation which has caused him to miss practice and the Cowboys last two preseason games. This is something that could linger and affect practice time but should not affect meaningful games. There are ways to get players thru game day. @ProFootballDoc
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Cooper has put up some historical numbers to start his career despite playing in an awful offense that refused to throw him the ball. It was no wonder he exploded with a new offense and better quarterback despite learning the playbook on the fly. The ceiling is enormous in his first full season with Dallas but there is also quite a bit of unknown too, particularly his plantar fasciitis.Sony has plummeted down draft boards with the drafting of Damien Harris and multiple reports about concerns revolving Michel's knee. These are both scary for fantasy owners, but the price has now dropped low enough that you can afford to take a risk on someone with legitimate top 10 running back upside in this great Patriots' offense.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Cooper was a great addition to the Cowboys passing offense, but he is a little hit or miss in their run-heavy scheme. He is a low-end WR1 that should see a ton of targets in the passing game.Michel had a breakout postseason and that could carry over to a strong 2019 season. He does have some knee issues, but he should still be a solid RB3 with RB2 upside in 2019.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Yes, Coop was a stud with Prescott looking at the surface numbers, but look close and see that it was regular ol' Coop. In 9 games with the Cowboys, Cooper put up single digits 4 times, under 15 7 times, and two monster games where he put up around 35 and 45. The inconsistencies continued.Check out my article on BRotofantasy.com regarding Michel's inflated ADP. He was very much a game script RB with no passing game involvement last season and there is nothing that says that will not remain the same this season. He also has degenerative knee issues and has never played even half the offensive snaps in a game.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Amari Cooper's career high in TD's is 7. He's passed 1100 yards once. He's passed 75 catches once. He played 9 games for Dallas and put up FOUR games in which his stat line was less than or equal to 5/36/0. And you want to take him in the third round?
Sean Koerner
The Action Network
chronic knee issues mean he could miss games. Damien Harris puts pressure on him. not ideal in any sort of PPR. he's more valuable in Best Ball as he will consolidate his value into several games he goes off
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
I love Amari Cooper this season. He's finally out of Oakland, and in a place where he can see consistent volume. Dak Prescott is by no means an elite QB, but he's a big upgrade from Derek Carr. In the 9 games after being traded last season Cooper averaged 6/80/0.67. He was used in all areas of the field, and he showed his weekly upside with 2 games over 180 yards and 2 scores. He did all of this after being traded in the middle of the season. Receivers usually struggle when they change teams during an offseason, so the fact that he was able to produce right away is incredible. After a full Summer to train with the team, I expect Cooper to have some monster games this season. I'd be very excited to get Cooper in the third round. That's the point in the draft where you should have locked up two stud skill position players already. So capturing the weekly upside of Cooper on top of that is a no brainer.Honestly, I can't justify drafting Sony this season. Not only did the Patriots draft another RB early this season, but his knee is a concern. He's suffered a torn ACL, a fractured shoulder blade, multiple ankle sprains, a fractured forearm and three separate knee strains. Sony, unsurprisingly, has the second highest chance of injury this season according to sports injury predictor. You can also add volume reduction to his risk. We know that White is going to get most of the passing down work, and that Harris is going to take some of the early down work away from him. This backfield is very similar to that of Washington. Assuming everyone stays healthy, Sony isn't going to pay off his ADP. He would need a Damien Harris injury to be anything more than a TD upside FLEX play. Yet he's being drafted as a mid range RB 2. Save yourself the headache and just stay away from Sony this season.
