FantasyPros
It was good to see Cooper go to Dallas and get consistent targets as that's something he was missing throughout his time in Oakland. He saw at least five targets in each of his nine games with the Cowboys, while seeing seven or more targets in 7-of-9 games. Because of that, he finished as the No. 4 wide receiver in fantasy from the time he joined them, behind only Antonio Brown, Davante Adams, and Julio Jones. He may not offer the consistency that those guys do, but not many do. Cooper should be on the low-end WR1 radarIt went from Hilton as the only show in town, to what looks like a full house. He'll now compete with Devin Funchess, Parris Campbell, Eric Ebron, Jack Doyle, and Nyheim Hines for targets. Even bigger, he just lost his superstar quarterback, Andrew Luck. This is a significant downgrade to Hilton's projection, as we've seen him play with Jacoby Brissett before. He's nothing more than a WR3 in fantasy leagues.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
You have to like what you saw from him in DAL - in 11 games, counting 2 playoff contests, he caught 66 passes for 896 yards and 7 TDs - dealing with heel strain, but apparently it's something he's managed to play through in the pastHe was WR 25 in half-PPR in '17 with QB Brissett replacing an injured Luck for the season. I expect Brissett and Hilton to both be better versions of themselves this time around in a much better offensive environment than it was in '17
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Hilton can be great, but his best days have always been with Andrew Luck, who is now retired. That can't be good.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Cooper has put up some historical numbers to start his career despite playing in an awful offense that refused to throw him the ball. It was no wonder he exploded with a new offense and better quarterback despite learning the playbook on the fly. The ceiling is enormous in his first full season with Dallas but there is also quite a bit of unknown too, particularly his plantar fasciitis.Through his seven-year career, Hilton has finished inside the top 20 wideouts just 4 times and only once higher than #10. His upside is likely outside that top 10 being that he is 30 years old and sharing an offense with so many weapons. Add in a downgrade at QB and Hilton could end up as a WR3 by season's end.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Cooper was a great addition to the Cowboys passing offense, but he is a little hit or miss in their run-heavy scheme. He is a low-end WR1 that should see a ton of targets in the passing game.Hilton had only 76 receptions, but those went for 1,270 yards and 6 touchdowns. QB Andrew Luck's retirement is going to limit his big plays and he will likely be only a WR3 in an offense unable to stretch the field.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Cooper was dynamic after a mid-season trade to the Cowboys and, absent injury concerns, he'd be a solid WR1 this year. But he has battled a foot injury all preseason, which has alternatively been referred to as plantar fasciitis, a strained heel, and a muscle strain. Whatever the injury is, it's clearly still bothering Cooper, and it's unclear if his availability for the Cowboys' first game is questionable. For now, fantasy owners should drop Cooper a few spots in their rankings. But don't let him slip too far absent word that his availability for the regular season is in doubt.Hilton's outlook changes drastically with the news that Andrew Luck is retiring from the NFL. We've seen what happens to Hilton without Luck and it isn't pretty - he finished with just 966 yards, his only year below 1,000. It's a better offensive system now so Hilton should likely retain WR3 production with Jacoby Brissett, but drop him down your draft board quickly.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
In 2017, Cooper scored 52% of his fantasy points in just three games (most). In 2018, Cooper scored 52% of his fantasy points in just three games (most). @ScottBarrettDFB Cooper has been dealing with plantar fascia irritation which has caused him to miss practice and the Cowboys last two preseason games. This is something that could linger and affect practice time but should not affect meaningful games. There are ways to get players thru game day. @ProFootballDoc
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Yes, Coop was a stud with Prescott looking at the surface numbers, but look close and see that it was regular ol' Coop. In 9 games with the Cowboys, Cooper put up single digits 4 times, under 15 7 times, and two monster games where he put up around 35 and 45. The inconsistencies continued.TY Hilton went 76/120 receptions/targets with 1270/6 in 14 games last season. This season he'll be Juju lite version, 90 receptions, which he's done before in 2016, 1500 yards, reached 1448 in 2016, and a career high 8 TDs. Why? The Colts are bringing back their entire offensive line for a second year which never happens in today's NFL and Andrew Luck is fully healthy. He is going to have time to throw, and that time is going to lead too even more TY Hilton bombs. He averages 16 Y/R in his career.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Amari Cooper's career high in TD's is 7. He's passed 1100 yards once. He's passed 75 catches once. He played 9 games for Dallas and put up FOUR games in which his stat line was less than or equal to 5/36/0. And you want to take him in the third round?
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
I love Amari Cooper this season. He's finally out of Oakland, and in a place where he can see consistent volume. Dak Prescott is by no means an elite QB, but he's a big upgrade from Derek Carr. In the 9 games after being traded last season Cooper averaged 6/80/0.67. He was used in all areas of the field, and he showed his weekly upside with 2 games over 180 yards and 2 scores. He did all of this after being traded in the middle of the season. Receivers usually struggle when they change teams during an offseason, so the fact that he was able to produce right away is incredible. After a full Summer to train with the team, I expect Cooper to have some monster games this season. I'd be very excited to get Cooper in the third round. That's the point in the draft where you should have locked up two stud skill position players already. So capturing the weekly upside of Cooper on top of that is a no brainer. As a result of a hamstring pull in week 4, Hilton missed week's 5-6, played on a limited snap count in week 7, then acted mostly as a decoy in week 8 before a week 9 bye. However, from week 10 on he posted a jaw dropping 917 receiving yards. If we take his average stat line from weeks 10-17, and extrapolate over a full season, it comes out to 100/1,834/4. Juju had the second most receiving yards over that stretch...with 163 less yards. Nick Sirianni and Frank Reich have done an amazing job with this offense, and the return of Doyle, plus the addition of Campbell should mean that no team can possibly double Hilton. He's going to have some mediocre weeks, but he's also going to win you a few on his own. I'm comfortable taking him at his current ADP.
