Pack to the Future
Brandon Aiyuk could not have landed in a better spot than San Francisco. They love getting their WRs the ball in space and Aiyuk is dangerous with the ball in his hands. Add the fact that Deebo Samuel is slated to miss at least the first few weeks, and we could have an immediate contributor out of Aiyuk.Jeffrey played in only 10 games last year totaling 43 receptions, 490 yards, and four TDs. Now the Eagles have added first-rounder Jalen Reagor as well as John Hightower in this year's draft. Jeffrey's injury history and youth behind him have me nervous. He'll likely be a TD dependent WR who can only be played in favorable matchups.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
When a receiver is drafted in the first round, he's starting immediately. When that player was traded up for, they already have a plan in mind. Aiyuk is someone who can stretch the field, while Deebo Samuel and George Kittle work the underneath part of the field. The 49ers did not take very many deep shots last year, which doesn't bode well for Aiyuk from a fantasy perspective, but it could've been that they didn't have the personnel necessary to do so. He's just a late-round bench stash right now who will have some big weeks.Since joining the Eagles in 2017, Jeffery has played 38 games for them. In those 38 games, he's finished with WR1-type numbers 10 times, while posting WR2 (or better) numbers 16 times. For someone who's being drafted outside the top 40 wide receivers, that's pretty dang good. Sure, you have to worry about injuries, but when you have him as your WR4 or WR5, you're not too concerned.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
There may be a non-zero chance that Jeffery avoids the PUP list when the season opens, but it's about as close to zero as you can get. When healthy, Jeffery is an excellent fantasy option, capable of putting up WR2 numbers or better regularly. But coming off a Lisfranc injury, and with a checkered health history, it's hard to see him contributing all that much, at least not until later in the year. With roster and IR spots at a premium this year, there's little reason to waste a draft pick on Jeffery,
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
The 49ers game plan is very simple. Run, run, throw to George Kittle, give Deebo Samuel a crack, run some more. It's simple but effective too and will only change if a) the defence sucks (it won't) or b) someone gets injured. Deebo's inury has therefore opened the door just a little, but it seems far more like the extra targets available from Sanders and perhaps Samuel's absence will be spread between Brandon Aiyuk, Kendrick Bourne and perhaps some Dante Pettis and Trent Taylor. There's hence simply not enough volume to justify the rookie as a worthwhile pick in most leagues, especially given the role isn't guaranteed. Because he's very cheap, you can draft him for depth, just don't expect a league winner. The Eagles receiving corps is a massive mess but Alshon Jeffery remains the nominal WR1. While that's good in theory, he's very difficult to draft as a 30-year-old who is massively injury prone and coming off a Lisfranc injury which could see him start the season in IR. The upside does exist though as Jeffery has averaged double-digit half-PPR points each of the last seven seasons and is the major big-bodied receiver on the outside in Philly. He's a nice late gamble but you should be dropping him in advance of Week 1 if he's no good and you don't have an IR slot.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Brandon Aiyuk was one of my most confusing evaluations throughout the pre-draft process and my grade reflects that. He has the draft capital, but Aiyuk's best utilized as a deep-passing option and that doesn't exactly fit Garropolo's skillset. Aiyuk may be one of the players that's better for a NFL offense than for fantasy football.Jeffery seems destined to start the 2020 season on the PUP list, unfortunately. With that being the case, Jeffery is nothing worth more than a stash if your league has an IR spot. If it doesn't, Jeffery should go straight to your waiver wire and you can attempt to pick him up later on. He does have upside when he's on the field, but at this point in his career, he may be more of a headache to own in fantasy than he's worth.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Do you really want to draft a WR that hasn't been over 850 yards since 2014, has only played 16 games twice in his career, is recovering from a Lisfranc injury, and relies on unreliable TDs for fantasy production at age 30?
