Hail to Fantasy Football
He's 4th or so in the pecking order after D.J. Moore, Anderson, and CMC. But looking good in camp and a decent late round dart throw.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Edwards certainly has the talent to be a factor for fantasy football, but injuries seem to be holding him back. He should have a clear role in this offense as a starter in 2021 and he could breakout if everything goes his way. At his current ADP, he's worth taking a shot on to see if he can emerge in this offense, but it's certainly far from a guarantee. He's most likely someone that you should keep an eye on on the waiver wire versus someone worth spending a draft pick on.Marshall certainly has some ridiculous upside in the NFL, but he also comes with a low floor due to his skillset. While there are certainly people that are all-in with Marshall in Carolina, it's very difficult to find the targets in this offense to see how he returns consistent production. He'll be behind CMC, DJ Moore, and Robby Anderson and we could see Darnold lean on one of the TEs in this offense over the middle of the field before Marshall. He'll have some big games here or there, but we shouldn't let the hype get too out of control on the raw rookie receiver. My Very Early Projection: 43-671-3 receiving.
Kevin Wheeler
The Draft Zone
As of mid-June, Edwards is my most rostered player. Alpha WR size, measuring in at over 6' tall and over 210 lbs. As a 20 y/o in college, he had 846 recYds. His college teammate who had 882 recYds that season at age 23 went pick 36 (early rd 2) that year in the NFL Draft. Extremely efficient as a rookie last year, with 1.93 yards per route run. Through the 1st 3 games he had the 2nd most recYds of any WR on my team, but then got injured. Gruden's camp-hype coach-speak, "Edwards has great ability. I'm excited about him. He looks like T.O....one of the #1 wideouts in the league."
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
Perhaps a beneficiary of Agholor leaving... but if you cant beat out Agholor in the first place..Recent hype that he's been manning the slot is invaluable - Darnold absolutely peppers this position. Keep your eyes peeled on how this develops for Marshall
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
The Raiders were high on Edwards during last year's draft process, though injuries derailed his progress. Once Nelson Agholor left, it felt like Edwards might be starting in 2WR sets, though they quickly replaced Agholor with the veteran John Brown. Still, Edwards is the only notable receiver on the team who's over six-feet tall and can play that go-to role they seek outside of Darren Waller. We've also heard Derek Carr say that Edwards reminded him of his former teammate in college, Davante Adams, which is never a bad thing. The exit of Curtis Samuel frees up some targets in the offense, but don't forget that Christian McCaffrey missed most of last year, which allowed more targets to go to the wide receivers. We don't know how the Panthers will deploy Marshall, though it's certainly worth noting he has experience in this offense, as he played for Joe Brady at LSU. If they align him as the big slot, he can make more of an impact with Sam Darnold, who has always favored his targets over the middle of the field. If they put him on the perimeter, it'll be a lot tougher for him to produce immediately while behind D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and McCaffrey in the pecking order.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Edwards battles through a disappointing and injury-plagued rookie season, and he'll need to both stay healthy and show he can be the playmaker the Raiders thought they were drafting in order to make an impact. The Raiders replaced Nelson Agholor with John Brown but Edwards should still see the field plenty. Whether there's room for Edwards considering the presence of Brown, Henry Ruggs, Hunter Renfrow, and Darren Waller, as well as Kenyan Drake likely to take additional work in the passing game, remains to be seen. He's not worth drafting in anything shallower than 15-team formats, and even then, only as a late-round pick.
