96.9 YPG over past 2 seasons ranks 8th-best among RBs in that span, and he's also chipped in 9 TDs in each campaign - expected to be fully recovered from hip injury by Week 1
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
If we knew Carson would be healthy the entire season, he'd be ranked as a top-12 running back. But we don't. There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Seahawks backfield, as Carson is coming off a season-ending hip injury, while Rashaad Penny is recovering from a torn ACL, and they drafted DeeJay Dallas in the fourth round of the draft. You'll want to pay close attention to this backfield as we approach fantasy draft season.Prior to getting hurt and having his season cut short, Ridley was on pace for 1,066 yards and eight touchdowns in 2019, which would have had him as the WR14. Now going into his third NFL season, there's a real chance for a breakout, though Julio Jones isn't going away any time soon. If you want to know if there's room for both to be WR1s, look no further than the Bucs last year with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, though it's rare for that to happen. Still, Ridley is an ascending talent and the Falcons didn't add a receiver of significance to replace Mohamed Sanu.
Elliot Berkovits
Pack to the Future
The Seahawks backfield is never an easy one to figure out but over the last two seasons, Carson has proven to be the superior back to Rashad Penny. While he will never get a full workload, I expect Carson to see the majority of the work, especially near the goal line.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Carson is a RB2 coming off a season with 1,496 yards from scrimmage and 9 touchdowns. The only downside was his 7 fumbles. Seattle could be a RBBC this year, but if Carson can hang onto the ball, he is a solid RB2.Ridley was solid with 900 yards from scrimmage and 7 touchdowns, but he needs to work on consistency to be more than a WR3.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
WR 29 in PPG his rookie season and WR 17 in PPG last season. The arrow is pointing up for Ridley and he has a very safe floor. He won't have the overall WR1 upside that those around him like Evans and AJ Brown have, but he also has less questions.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Carson is a bit of a question mark for 2020 at this point due to his recovery from a hip injury. While all signs point to him being ready to start week one, we need to be prepared to shift as new news comes out. Right now, drafting Carson at his current ADP is certainly risky. There may not be more of a value in all of fantasy football ADP right now than Ridley. He's connected to one of the best offenses in the NFL and he's essentially a lock to see over 115 targets if he plays all 16 games. At his current ADP, Ridley's a home run selection and has the potential of finishing the season as a WR1.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
The Seahawks running back room remains a nightmare for fantasy. There's clearly enormous upside available but it's an annual mess of the fumble master Chris Carson, injury prone Rashaad Penny and now the fun sponge Carlos Hyde. The common fantasy wisdom in these situations is to take the cheapest option but Rashaad Penny looks likely to start the season on IR and Carlos Hyde clearly isn't taking the starting role so it's really Carson that's the only valid option. If Carson gets the volume he enjoyed for most of 2019, he's a non-PPR monster with 20+ carries and 100+ yards most weeks. He's even starting to improve in the receiving game and has legitimate upside as a true workhorse in this elite Seahawks offence. If only the risk wasn't there. I'm taking him late in the 2nd round as a high upside option to pair with a veteran like Leveon Bell or Todd Gurley in the 3rd or 4th.Calvin Ridley is the definition of a breakout candidate going into his third season. With Sanu and Hooper out of town and an offence that will need to continue throwing a lot, Ridley should be a strong fantasy option with massive upside if he can start to take over from Julio Jones. Just remember though, there's no guarantee the breakout happens this year so don't pay for his ceiling.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Matt Ryan has supported 2 Top 24 PPR WRs four times in his career. Amongst active QBs, only Aaron Rodgers has more seasons of supporting 2 Top 24 WRs. @ClutchFantasy He's been pegged as a potential breakout player this year on one of the pass-heaviest offense in the league. Weeks 1-14 last season, he was the WR14 overall. @SWallace_FF
Bart Wheeler
Hail to Fantasy Football
The Seahawks signing Carlos Hyde likely has more to do with Penny's health (or lack thereof), but it still has me moving Carson down a couple of spots.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Hip injury is definitely something to follow-> Actually didn't need surgery for it, is expected to make a full recovery. Meanwhile, there is talk of the PUP list for Rashaad Penny, and bring Marshawn Lynch back, all good news for Chris CarsonGetting out targeted by Austin Hooper in the same amount of games can't feel great. Has been a TD king up to this point. My only small worry for guys like Ridley and McLaurin. They come out as seniors, basically fully developed, and we expect them to continue taking large steps forward when they most likely came out of college as more of a finished product, near their ceiling. However, now that Hooper has left, I would expect a better season, just based on target volume.
