FantasyPros
Prior to tearing his ACL, Henry's career arc was moving in the right direction. His per-target production is through the roof as he's seen 115 targets in his career that have amounted to 81 receptions for 1,057 yards and 12 touchdowns. By comparison, Zach Ertz saw 156 targets in 2018 and finished with 1,163 yards and 8 touchdownsIt's not often we see a rookie wide receiver make an impact in fantasy football the way Ridley did, especially when there's a stud wideout on the other side of the field like Julio Jones. Despite that, Ridley popped-off for 821 yards and 10 touchdowns, finishing as the WR20. While some would expect him to build on that, the Falcons aren't likely to throw the ball as much as they did in 2018 due to their defensive stars being healthy again. He should offer a bit more consistency, though, and if something were to happen to Jones, he'd immediately be a top-15 play every week
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Philip Rivers knows how to utilize tight ends and Henry will be making up for lost time. He's a top-5 threat.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Henry was a popular breakout candidate last year until he tore his ACL and missed the entire regular season. He's been an excellent fantasy option throughout his career, and that's been almost entirely with Antonio Gates on the field. With Gates now out of the way, Henry should see a bevy of targets from Philip Rivers, who has targeted his tight ends early and often. That immediately vaults him into the top 10 of tight ends, and you shouldn't hesitate to take him in the top five if necessary.Ridley scored 10 touchdowns as a rookie, a remarkable total, and showed elite skills as a receiver. But he was the model of inconsistency, as five of those 10 touchdowns came in a two-game stretch. With another year under his belt, expect an increase in both the 92 targets and 64 receptions he had last year. He's a solid WR2 with upside.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Really liked Hunter Henry at his ADP last season, but then he missed the entire season with a torn ACL and now he is being drafted at the same spot. It does scare me a bit. He was really coming into his own at the end of 2017 with over 50 receiving yards in 3 of his final 4 games and 2 TDs in that span with 16 receptions in those games. There are a lot of mouths to feed in San Diego though and the running backs basically combined to be a WR1 receiving last season.Calvin Ridley had an awesome rookie season going 64/821/10, including the one game he absolutely torched the Saints for 146 yards and three TDs. The only problem is that he was an extremely volatile option. He ended within the top 20 overall WRs five times and outside the top 45 eight times. Hooper is expected to take another step up in the offense and Sanu will continue to be a thorn in the side for fantasy production. I just don't see how he makes a big jump, especially when he was so productive in the TD department.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Ridley is the 22nd WR off the board in .5 PPR leagues. Last season, he played in 62% of the falcons plays and had 92 targets. He ended with 10 TDs but was still, at times, playing second fiddle to Mohammed Sanu (The GOAT QB). If Ryan regresses and Ridley's efficiency decreases, Ridley will be a WR4. I'm not comfortable with him as my WR2.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
It is tough to know just how strong Henry will be in his return from the injury but seeing that he was prepared to play in the playoffs, it seems likely that he will be nearly back to 100%. Prior to his injury, Henry was every bit as efficient as Rob Gronkowski and Travis Kelce at the top of the league. Now that he is actually the starter and should see a major bump in targets, he may just leap into that top tight end tier.Last season Ridley played just 61% of the Falcons snaps. Most consider him to be the clear-cut #2 in Atlanta, but outside of a few big flashes, Ridley was the #3 option for Matt Ryan behind Sanu. That should change this year, but with Julio hogging the majority of the targets, Ridley's upside is still stunted.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Hunter Henry will return from a torn ACL he suffered last summer. Unlike players who suffered that injury during the season, Henry will be 100% to start the year. Henry put together two decent seasons before the injury, serving as both a receiving option and a red zone threat, even while Gates was still with the team. With Gates now long gone, Henry should be the teams top red zone option. This is also an offense that loves to throw the football. In 2017 they ranked 6th and 3rd in passing TD's and yards respectively. Last season those numbers were 8th and 11th. The Chargers have seemingly drawn the short straw on injuries in each of the past three seasons. In 2016 Keenan Allen tore his ACL, in 2017 Mike Williams injured his back and was limited to just one start, then Henry tore his ACL last season. At least for now, The Chargers offense is fully healthy. The core of Gordon/Allen/Henry/Williams is one of the best in the league, so they should be amongst the league leaders in TD's scored. While that's a positive for Henry (top red zone option on a top scoring offense), the plethora of options does mean that there will be some down weeks for all of these players. There are so many mouths to feed that sometimes they are going to under perform. At the end of the day, Henry is a top TE option, and someone I'd target in the middle rounds.Calvin Ridley is an extremely interesting pick this season. There doesn't seem to be any buzz around him, even after his great rookie season. He finished with a 64/821/10 stat line in his first season, and while the per reception TD rate is going to regress, there's plenty of room for his volume to increase. Ridley commanded 92 targets last year, while only playing on 62% of Matt Ryan's snaps. We should expect that number to be at least 80% this season, leading to a much larger target market share. As it currently stands, I have Ridley with an extremely reasonable 18.5% target market share, and 10% regression on his TD's per reception. Under those settings he's projected to finish with a 70/881/9.5 stat line...which is the 17th highest projection among WR's. Yet he's being drafted as the WR 26. That's great value!
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
The nice thing about Henry playing in the playoffs is that we know he is healthy and he will be available for all OTA activities. Henry should bounce back as a TE1 coming off the ACL injury in May last year.Ridley had 64 receptions for 821 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns last year. He is a solid WR3 bet that will likely have less touchdowns in 2019, but more receptions and receiving yards.
