QB List
This one's pretty simple: Hurns is a veteran with underwhelming athleticism, crisp routes, and what could be a consistently high target share as a defacto #1 receiver. If that doesn't scream bargain bin WR3 production then idk what does."I bet you forgot about me huh?", Meredith remarks snidely with arms crossed and head tilted. Signing with the Saints in the offseason following a season ending ACL tear, Meredith figures to be the primary slot receiver for a perennially potent Saints offense. Assuming he recovers fully, which all by all accounts he should, and rookie Tre'Quan Smith doesn't suddenly shift from a downfield receiver to a slot receiver, Meredith should be in store for steady receptions and yards, possibly as a solid WR3. I like his upside at WR53.
Chet Gresham
WalterFootball
The Cowboys have one of the worst receiving groups in the league, without a doubt, but Hurns is easily the best of the bunch right now. Michael Gallup could end up as the No. 1 target this season, although Hurns should be the favorite.Meredith looks like he'll be ready to go for training camp, and as long as that pans out, I think he could push for targets, which with Drew Brees is a good thing.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
As of right now, Hurns is the No. 1 receiver for the Cowboys, though you shouldn't expect him to carry that role for very long with Michael Gallup in the picture. Still, there's value for a wide receiver who will see anywhere from 5-8 targets from Dak Prescott. Hurns did produce quite a few fantasy relevant weeks with Blake Bortles, so it's possible he turns out to be better than most expect. It was a knee injury that looked like it could be a career-ender, but Meredith latched on with the Saints this offseason and will now be catching passes from Drew Brees. Shortly after snagging him, the Saints cut ties with Willie Snead, opening up the slot role that Meredith played so well while with the Bears. Meredith's sample size is relatively small, but when you rack up 888 yards and four touchdowns from Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley, there's plenty of optimism. The issue is that Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, Ted Ginn, and maybe even Ben Watson are ahead of him in the pecking order. He's likely to have some big weeks, but I wouldn't expect a weekly contributor.
Andrew Gould
FantasyPros
The case for Hurns is simple: Who else is going to catch passes in Dallas? Although limited to 74 receptions over 21 games in the past two seasons, the 26-year-old joins a passing offense that bid farewell to Dez Bryant and Jason Witten. Then again, wasn't he supposed to be Jacksonville's top option when Allen Robinson went down for the season? He averaged a tame 48.4 YPG and did not garner a red-zone target after Week 4. Cole Beasley, Terrance Williams, and/or Michael Gallup could also answer the opening question, so treat Hurns as no more than bench depth with a solid target stream. Recovering from an ACL and partial MCL tear that cost him all of 2017, Meredith hopes to be ready to open the season. Now that he left the Bears to join Drew Brees in the Big Easy, drafters can't forget about someone who averaged 63.4 YPG in 2016. He's pegged to supplant Ted Ginn Jr. as the second WR on an elite offense, so early drafters should bet on a healthy return if he falls to the late rounds. Those drafting closer to September will have a better read on his outlook.
Kevin Wheeler
NFL Mock
He's been hampered by injuries over the past couple of years, but when he has stayed health and gotten the targets he has been successful. His best season was in 2015, he had 105 Targets for 64 Receptions at 1031 Yards for 10 TDs, that's 16.11 Yards Per Reception and a 61% Catch Rate coming from Blake Bortles. He finished as the WR14 in Standard Scoring and WR18 in PPR. "Expect Meredith in old "Colston Role" at slot WR between Michael Thomas & Ted Ginn." @EvanSilva He appears to be healthy,he has avoided the PUP list and is in camp the first day. Baring set-backs he could be the sleeper of the draft right now (7/26).
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
The word is that Hurns is the Cowboys' clear-cut number one receiver as of now. He has produced before in an expanded role so it isn't crazy to see him performing as a flex play from week to week now that Dak is his QB.Although Meredith is far from a sure thing, the word is that he is recovering well from surgery and should be good to go this season. Now that he is on Drew Brees' team, big things could be in store if he gets a chance at the starting wide receiver two job. Consider him to be a late-end lottery ticket.
Raju Byfield
Win My Fantasy League
The Boys finally have a half way competent #2Meredith should easily pass Ginn in targets if he proves to be healthy
