Another hype train gliding peacefully down the tracks that I must derail, I'm sorry. He could 100% seize a high volume role in the Carolina passing offense. Sure, it's possible. Is it likely, however? No, given Devin Funchess is a talented receiver in his own right and the team still has veteran Greg Olsen to lean on. What do YOU think he'll do then smart-guy?! Funny you ask, I was just about to get there: the talented rookie will occupy the downfield role that Tedd Ginn Jr. used to man, and do so with about as much success as one can have in that role in a run-first offense. Grab Moore for the tasty upside, but keep those expectations to a minimum lest you get run over by another hype train."I bet you forgot about me huh?", Meredith remarks snidely with arms crossed and head tilted. Signing with the Saints in the offseason following a season ending ACL tear, Meredith figures to be the primary slot receiver for a perennially potent Saints offense. Assuming he recovers fully, which all by all accounts he should, and rookie Tre'Quan Smith doesn't suddenly shift from a downfield receiver to a slot receiver, Meredith should be in store for steady receptions and yards, possibly as a solid WR3. I like his upside at WR53.
Chet Gresham
WalterFootball
Moore is one of the few receivers drafted who is set up well to be his team's No. 1 receiver sooner than later, as his ability should outpace that of Devin Funchess. Unfortunately, Moore is on a team that doesn't have your normal drop-back quarterback in Cam Newton. I worry about Newton being able to help Moore become a true top-end fantasy player, but I think he has the most ability out of the top rookie wide receivers.Meredith looks like he'll be ready to go for training camp, and as long as that pans out, I think he could push for targets, which with Drew Brees is a good thing.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It was shocking to see the Panthers snag Moore with Calvin Ridley still on the board, but they obviously had him higher on their board. He's going to have to compete with Devin Funchess, Greg Olsen, and Christian McCaffrey for targets, which is less than ideal considering that Cam Newton isn't what we'd call an accurate quarterback. Moore might turn out to be the most productive wide receiver in Carolina, but that might not be saying much. Be prepared for a roller coaster in fantasy. It was a knee injury that looked like it could be a career-ender, but Meredith latched on with the Saints this offseason and will now be catching passes from Drew Brees. Shortly after snagging him, the Saints cut ties with Willie Snead, opening up the slot role that Meredith played so well while with the Bears. Meredith's sample size is relatively small, but when you rack up 888 yards and four touchdowns from Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley, there's plenty of optimism. The issue is that Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, Ted Ginn, and maybe even Ben Watson are ahead of him in the pecking order. He's likely to have some big weeks, but I wouldn't expect a weekly contributor.
Andrew Gould
FantasyPros
Wideouts drafted in the first round have slumped out of the gate after 2014's stacked class. Recent shortcomings have set the bar relatively low for DJ Moore, who joins a Panthers squad in desperate need of a pass-catching playmaker. The 21-year-old is also a possession receiver who must wrestle targets away from Christian McCaffrey, Greg Olsen, and Devin Funchess. Cam Newton (58.5 career completion %) is not the optimal passer to unlock Moore's skills, so he's best served as a WR5 reserve.Recovering from an ACL and partial MCL tear that cost him all of 2017, Meredith hopes to be ready to open the season. Now that he left the Bears to join Drew Brees in the Big Easy, drafters can't forget about someone who averaged 63.4 YPG in 2016. He's pegged to supplant Ted Ginn Jr. as the second WR on an elite offense, so early drafters should bet on a healthy return if he falls to the late rounds. Those drafting closer to September will have a better read on his outlook.
Kevin Wheeler
NFL Mock
"Expect Meredith in old "Colston Role" at slot WR between Michael Thomas & Ted Ginn." @EvanSilva He appears to be healthy,he has avoided the PUP list and is in camp the first day. Baring set-backs he could be the sleeper of the draft right now (7/26).
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Cam Newton may be an exceptional football player, but passer he is not. There are only so many targets to go around between Greg Olsen, Christian McCaffrey and Devin Funchess so while Moore is a terrific talent, he may not offer startable production right away for fantasy purposes.Although Meredith is far from a sure thing, the word is that he is recovering well from surgery and should be good to go this season. Now that he is on Drew Brees' team, big things could be in store if he gets a chance at the starting wide receiver two job. Consider him to be a late-end lottery ticket.
Raju Byfield
Win My Fantasy League
Only worry here is that Moore is cast in a target heavy but poor efficiency go route roleMeredith should easily pass Ginn in targets if he proves to be healthy
Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
Moore should have a chance to start right away and he could have WR3 value as a rookie.
