FantasyPros
There are a lot of reasons to like Carson. Looking at how he finished the season, it's hard to not like him. From Week 12 on, he finished as the No. 4 fantasy running back behind only Christian McCaffrey, Derrick Henry, and Saquon Barkley. While Rashaad Penny is still there (and a former first-round pick), Mike Davis exited town, leaving behind plenty of touches for Penny. While Carson may not have the upside of others who are used in the pass-game consistently, he should be a solid RB2 provided he's healthy. This, of course, is a concern after hearing Carson "had a little work done" on his knee this offseason, so stay tuned for updatesIt was right to be a bit hesitant about Thielen last year, as it was going to be tough for both him and Stefon Diggs to be top-15 options. Fortunately, he and Diggs each saw at least 150 targets allowing both of them to finish as top-10 options. They didn't add anyone to take targets away from them, outside of rookie tight end Irv Smith Jr., and we all know not to expect much out of rookie tight ends. It is worth noting, though, that after his hot start, Thielen was the WR23 from Week 9 through Week 16
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
It sounds like Carson is far and away the top guy in Seattle. He lacks flash, but he was the 15th best fantasy back in 2018. We can't ignore that.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Carson wasn't even expected to be the starting running back last year, let alone be a reliable weekly running back option in fantasy like he was. But after 1,151 yards and nine touchdowns, he came into camp this year as the clear starter. That role has only been solidified, with Rashaad Penny reportecly falling further behind Carson in the Seahawks' eyes according to beat writers. With Mike Davis gone, Carson's role could grow even more. If he can get more involved in the passing game, he could have RB1 upside, but draft him as a reliable RB2 for now.Thielen was utterly electric for most of the 2018 season, ripping off eight straight 100-yard games and scoring touchdowns at will. And although he finished with an impressive 113 catches, like Stefon Diggs, his production dropped off significantly at the end of the season. If the Vikings focus on the run more like they did in their last few games, then Thielen will have a hard time producing much more than low-end WR2 numbers. But chances are that with Gary Kubiak on board as an adviser, Minnesota will get a bit more creative with their offense. Given what Thielen showed over the first half of last season, he should be considered a high-end WR2.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Carson is the ultimate boom or bust running back this season. Seattle may very well lead the league in carries again this season and Carson is about as efficient as they come. The concern, however, is that his knee will cause Carson to miss a few games or that Penny will play so well that he cuts into the workload. These are enough to keep him outside RB1 territory but barely.Even though his teammate Diggs managed over 100 receptions, Thielen posted 113 to go with a career-high 1,373 yards and 9 scores. There is room for both of them to finish as top 12 fantasy wideouts seeing that the rest of the receiver corps is barren. Their upside is limited, however, unless one goes down with an injury.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
SEA RBs scored 352 FP (Std), 385 (half-PPR), 418 (PPR) last year. If Carson sees 67% = 236 (RB6 last year), 258 (RB6), 280 (RB6) If he sees 60% = 211 (RB8), 231 (RB9), 251 (RB9) 55% = 194 (RB11), 212 (RB12), 230 (RB12) Last year he scored 53%, 51% and 49% respectively. @4for4_John In 2018, the Seahawks had the highest run ratio with 55.6%. It was the highest in the #NFL since 2012 when the Seahawks led the league with 56.96%. Surprisingly enough though, Chris Carson didn't have a top five game in 0.5 formats will Week 16. @TheFFRealist
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Thielen has put up 1277 and 1373 yards the last two seasons, respectively. He also has 12 total TDs over that span, doubling his output from 4 to 8. He was fourth in the league in red zone receptions in 2018, so 8 TDs can certainly be reached again. Super safe pick.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
R. Penny apologists need to understand that Carson is exactly the kind of between the tackles, chain-moving workhorse that SEA wants to hitch its wagon to - and now it wants to use him more in the passing game tooHe was shot out of a cannon in '18, with 8 straight 100-yard games - have to worry about how much OC change (to curb pass game) impacted his final 8 games, though (56 rec. YPG)
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
The big concern for Carson is going to be 2018 first round pick Rashaad Penny's role in the offense. The Seattle offense runs the ball enough to support two running backs, but Carson is hardly a guarantee to keep the bell cow role for the entire 2019 season.Thielen was the 7th ranked fantasy wide receiver with 113 receptions for 1,373 yards and 9 touchdowns. He should continue to be a WR2 with QB Kirk Cousins behind center, but the Vikings commitment to the running game at the end of the season may take away the targets Thielen needs to be a WR1.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Only six RBs had more rushes than Carson last season - behind Zeke, Barkley, DJ, Gurley, AP, and Jordan Howard (Very unlikely a lot of those guys make that list this year). In Seattle, Carson only received 55% of the team's carries. In comparison, Penny and Davis saw 19% and 26% last year. With Davis gone and not a real third option, why are we assuming Penny is going to take all of Davis' work? Or that He'll take Carson's job? If this becomes a 60-65/35-40 split, Carson will see MORE work than he saw last year. He's a steal at his ADP.
Sean Koerner
The Action Network
knee surgery is OK. may hold Penny off again. massive upside still in heavy run scheme Brian Schottenheimer
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
The Vikings are going to have a new dedication to running the ball this season, but that doesn't mean there still won't be massive opportunities for Thielen in this offense. Kirk Cousins and Thielen clearly have chemistry together and there's no reason to doubt Thielen's ability to repeat as a Top-12 WR next season.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Chris Carson put together an excellent second season last year, posting a 247/1151/9 stat line and finishing as the RB 15 in half ppr scoring. Had he played a full 16 weeks then he likely would have finished as a RB 1. This season I do expect him to get less carries. The Seahawks used a first round pick on Penny, and they're going to use him. He was better than people think last season, and teams love to be right with their early round picks. That by no means makes Carson a bad pick. The Seattle is going to run the ball a ton, so he can still pay off his ADP even if Penny gets a lot of work. I just prefer waiting and grabbing Penny later in drafts if I'm targeting this backfield. It was really a tale of two seasons for Thielen in 2018. He started the year with 8 consecutive games of over 100 yards, averaging a stat line of 9.25/116/0.75. Over the final 8 games however, he had just one 100 yard game, averaging a stat line of 4.9/56/0.4. Theilen was the top scoring WR by 37 points over the first 8 games, but was just the WR 26 over the second half, ranking behind Zay Jones, Mohamed Sanu and Adam Humphries. So which version of Thielen will we see in 2019? Probably something in the middle. My projections love him. They have him with just under 100 receptions for around 1,400 yards and 7 TD's. If he can put together a season like that, then he's going to be well worth his late second round ADP.
