Lineups
The Bengals were abysmal last season as they suffered through suspect quarterback play from Andy Dalton and Ryan Finley. Still, Mixon rushed for 4.1 yards per carry and had 35 catches. With Joe Burrow now at quarterback and Zac Taylor's offense featuring plenty of receiving talent, Mixon will have much more room to run and more scoring opportunities in 2020.I was down on Chris Carson earlier this offseason as I was worried about the presence of Rashaad Penny and Carlos Hyde. However, Penny is going to start the season on the PUP without a clear timetable and it's become clear throughout the offseason that this is still Carson's backfield to lose with Hyde serving as the backup. Assuming he isn't plagued by the same uncharacteristic fumbling issue from last season, Carson should be set for at least a 60-65% workload in one of the most run-heavy teams in the NFL.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
The Bengals addressed their poor offensive line play by selecting center Billy Price in the 2018 draft's first round, then tackle Jonah Williams 11th overall in '19. The hope is that Williams, who missed all of '19 with an injury, helps provide Mixon with better blocking.Carson was off to a promising start as a rookie in '17 before breaking his leg in a Week 4 game against the Colts. He has bounced back with two straight seasons of more than 90 total yards per game. In '19, he took on a bigger role in Seattle's passing attack.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Mixon now has the contract he coveted in Cincinnati and he's poised to be a workhorse back in a much-improved offense. From Weeks 11-17 last season, Mixon was the RB3 in all of fantasy football. And that was with Ryan Finley throwing the ball and completing 40% of his passes. Mixon's going to receive 18+ carries a game and there should be plenty of scoring opportunities to go around now that Joe Burrow is at QB. If you're drafting now and have concerns about Alvin Kamara and Dalvin Cook's contract situation, I'm fine taking Mixon over them.Carson is a bit of a question mark for 2020 at this point due to his recovery from a hip injury. While all signs point to him being ready to start week one, we need to be prepared to shift as new news comes out. Right now, drafting Carson at his current ADP is certainly risky.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
Joe Burrow at QB makes this offense instantly and infinitely more potent. Jonah Williams, last year's top ranked run blocker, will immediately improve the line. Mixon was the RB4 from Week 10 on, when the team fully (finally) committed to him, and now will be in an even rosier situation. *UPDATE* New contract only locks Mixon in furtherReceived a huge vote of confidence with the Seahawks surprisingly avoiding any major backfield moves in FA or the Draft. His fractured hip could hamper him all offseason and potentially to begin 2020 though, but the team likely would've made more RB moves if they were truly worried. If healthy.. no one was more consistent in 2019, with nearly 90% of Carson's active games finishing as a RB1 or RB2.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Mixon's value was up in the air for a week or two before he agreed on a new deal with the Bengals that will keep him in Cincinnati for several more seasons. With that locked in, Mixon is good to go for the 2020 season and it should be a good one. The downside for Mixon is his lack of usage in the passing game, which admittedly limits his upside a tad. But he was a true workhorse back over the latter half of the 2019 season, and will now be playing behind a better offensive line with a better quarterback in an offense that should score plenty of points. He may not have the ceiling of the top three or four backs being drafted, but if he's healthy, RB1 status is nearly a lock. Draft him with confidence.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Don't sleep on a Joe Mixon bounce back in 2020! The Bengals were truly awful last year, but Joe Burrow, AJ Green, Tee Higgins and a slew of other additions indicate a new dawn in Cinci. Mixon remains the clear lead back and should get another 300-350 touches. The improved attack and Joe Burrow's love of passing to RBs means Mixon has seriously high upside in 2020. He's a strong first round pick. The Seahawks running back room remains a nightmare for fantasy. There's clearly enormous upside available but it's an annual mess of the fumble master Chris Carson, injury prone Rashaad Penny and now the fun sponge Carlos Hyde. The common fantasy wisdom in these situations is to take the cheapest option but Rashaad Penny looks likely to start the season on IR and Carlos Hyde clearly isn't taking the starting role so it's really Carson that's the only valid option. If Carson gets the volume he enjoyed for most of 2019, he's a non-PPR monster with 20+ carries and 100+ yards most weeks. He's even starting to improve in the receiving game and has legitimate upside as a true workhorse in this elite Seahawks offense. If only the risk wasn't there. I'm taking him late in the 2nd round as a high upside option to pair with a veteran like Leveon Bell or Todd Gurley in the 3rd or 4th.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It's one thing to project a breakout for a player due to an increase in opportunity. It's another thing to project a breakout due to an increase in offensive production. Mixon got the opportunity last year under Zac Taylor, as he totaled 18-plus touches on 10 different occasions. But he'll need the offense to take a step forward in 2020 if he wants to ascend into stardom, as he's been an RB2 or better in just 57 percent of his games over the last two years. You must pay attention to his contract status as you approach drafts because Mixon has stated he'll hold out without an extension. This is a real thing with running backs, as they're trying to preserve their health while cashing in on a second contract. Stay tuned. If we knew Carson would be healthy the entire season, he'd be ranked as a top-12 running back. But we don't. There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Seahawks backfield, as Carson is coming off a season-ending hip injury, while Rashaad Penny is recovering from a torn ACL, and they drafted DeeJay Dallas in the fourth round of the draft. You'll want to pay close attention to this backfield as we approach fantasy draft season.
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
The fantasy world was ready last year, the casual fan is ready this year. Mixon should truly breakout in Zac Taylor's offense with Joe Burrow behind center.Carson is a bit overlooked this season. Seattle remains committed to him and he should have another breezy RB2 season this year.

Cant wait to see Mixon behind a healthy O-line and likely to become Joe Burrows favorite targetEvery season we say he won't be the RB1 by end of season and here we are. Again, the Seahawks are run heavy and Carson is an integral piece of the offense. I love his value in fantasy drafts as he always falls to the right spot each season.

Mixon had a horrible start to the season, but finished the year strong and he had 1424 yards from scrimmage and 8 touchdowns on the season. Joe Burrow should make the passing game more dangerous, which should help Mixon see better running lanes, but the offensive line still needs a ton of work.Carson is a RB2 coming off a season with 1,496 yards from scrimmage and 9 touchdowns. The only downside was his 7 fumbles. Seattle could be a RBBC this year, but if Carson can hang onto the ball, he is a solid RB2.

Workhorse RB in what should be an improved offense and OL. One of 5 RBs to have over 1k yards and 35 recs in each of the past two seasons. With Penny likely headed to PUP to start the season this leaves the opportunity for Carson to be the workhorse again. In a solid offense and doesn't offer the receiving upside we are necessarily looking for, but at his price he's a value.

Mixon has 2 of the 3 things that make a fantasy star - volume and talent. What's he been missing is a ripe environment and the hope is rookie QB Burrow can fix that96.9 YPG over past 2 seasons ranks 8th-best among RBs in that span, and he's also chipped in 9 TDs in each campaign - expected to be fully recovered from hip injury by Week 1

Mixon finished the 2019 season on a strong note averaging nearly 100 yards a game on the ground (98) and scoring six total TDs.With Joe Burrow now under center, the Bengals have a chance to surprise people offensively, and that all begins with the ground game. Look for Mixon to finally have the breakout season we've been waiting for since he entered the league. The Seahawks backfield is never an easy one to figure out but over the last two seasons, Carson has proven to be the superior back to Rashad Penny. While he will never get a full workload, I expect Carson to see the majority of the work, especially near the goal line.

Mixon jumps off the page as an RB who did a lot with nothing last year, but I'm nervous about a potential holdout.

How many more terrible situations does he have to survive before he finally gets a real supporting cast? The team has finished in the bottom half of the league in yards and points the last 3 seasons. Mixon manages to survive as RB34(rookie year where he only started 7 games), 9, and 13.Hip injury is definitely something to follow-> Actually didn't need surgery for it, is expected to make a full recovery. Meanwhile, there is talk of the PUP list for Rashaad Penny, and bring Marshawn Lynch back, all good news for Chris Carson
