Lineups
Few players elicit the oohs and aahs in a draft room when their name gets called quite like CEH. He's arguably the sexiest pick in fantasy drafts right now as the de facto workhorse in an Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes offense. After Damien Williams opted out of the season, the Chiefs have not looked to add any proven veteran talent. It's clear this is Clyde's role to lose and with his talent in this opportunity, he's going to be a fantasy superstar.Fantasy players seem to be fading on Aaron Jones after a wildly productive season that saw him finish as the RB2 in PPR leagues. He likely won't repeat his phenomenal 16 rushing touchdowns from last year, but I don't anticipate rookie A.J. Dillon stealing too much work right away. Jones is still clearly the most talented running back and perhaps the second-best pass-catcher on an Aaron Rodgers-led team. There's obvious value in his role and with his talent, he should finish as a top-15 running back at least.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
CEH has insane upside in Kansas City's system, but the infatuation is a little out of control. I'll drop him slightly in my rankings, as I much prefer to land him in round two than round one.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Edwards-Helaire was probably set to be overvalued in fantasy drafts, but now that Damien Williams has opted out, he immediately vaults into reliable RB1 territory. The Chiefs spent their first-round pick on Edwards-Helaire and, regardless, pretty much any replacement value running back can find fantasy gold in Kansas City's system. There are still other running backs on the roster who will garner touches, including Darrel Williams and Darwin Thompson, and because the Chiefs' offense is so dynamic, there is no reason for them to run their rookie back into the ground. Still, without Damien Williams, Edwards-Helaire should get the majority of the touches in the backfield, and that puts him in firm RB1 territory, full stop.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
Edwards-Helaire runs with the kind of balance that allows him to bounce off tacklers, and he has the twitch and quickness to pick up a chunk of yardage after he's broken a tackle. He should be able to excel as a rookie in Kansas City's high-powered offense.A slasher with juice in the open field, Jones has the ability to break off big gains on outside-zone runs. Showing a nose for the end zone in 2019, he was the only NFL running back to surpass 10 touchdowns on fewer than 20 carries inside the 10-yard line.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
I had Edwards-Helaire as my top running back in this year's class due to the way he fits the NFL today. He's a true three-down back who can catch 80-plus passes out of the backfield, while running for 1,000-plus yards. Landing with the Chiefs was a dream scenario, especially in the first round. Over the last seven years, running backs who've been drafted in the first round have averaged 280.7 touches in year one. 75 percent of them have finished as an RB2 or better. Don't think this is Darwin Thompson all over again, as he was a sixth-round pick last year, and those average just 29.8 touches in year one. This is Edwards-Helaire's backfield after Andy Reid said he's better than Brian Westbrook on film. You don't take those players off the field very often. He's worth a second-round pick and would be a steal in the third round.Despite having Aaron Rodgers under center, the Packers decided to add a third-string running back and fullback to their roster on Day 2 of the NFL Draft. Is that worrisome to Jones' production? Maybe a bit, as Matt LaFleur seems to want to continue his timeshare ways. Jones is by far the most talented, so even if we were to see him dip down to 13-15 touches per game, that's enough for him to do damage, especially considering Rodgers targets him in the passing game. Jones is one of just two running backs (Alvin Kamara is the other) who've finished with a top-30 season over the last 10 years with less than 300 touches. Jones is one of the most efficient running backs in football, though the coaching staff keeps him in RB2 territory.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
I was excited about Edwards-Helaire before Williams opted out, now, I'm all in. He's about to enter the best offense in football which will give him scoring opportunities on a weekly basis. Dating back to 1999, there have been five RB's coached by Andy Reid who finished inside the top-10 in their first year with him. Could Edwards-Helaire make it six? I think so.Everyone is screaming "regression for Aaron Jones." I get it, he rushed for 19 TDs, you can't expect him to do that again. So, go ahead and take away 9 of Jones' 19 TDs, he still would've finished as RB9! Jones is a star entering his prime.
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
Above average rusher, dynamite pass catcher. The Chiefs made an investment that raised eyebrows, but Damien Williams opting out should make your heart skip a beat. Darkhorse candidate to finish as a top 2 RB.Touchdown totals will regress, but his ADP already bakes that in. Coming off an RB2 overall finish, his cost is reasonable this season.
Frank Bonincontri
Fantasy Wire HQ
The Twitter anointed, chosen one, the almighty, the hall of fame back who hasn't played a down yet. Is this guy going to deliver? Most certainly, but don't expect Barry Sanders 2.0Offseason fantasy buzzword is "regression" but who cares? This guy is going to eat under 2nd year coach Matt LaFleur. The offense will need to run the ball and control the clock, if they are down, they are passing to get back in the game and Jones is the best in pass protection and catches out of the backfield. Dont let the Twitter offseason buzzkills scare you away
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
With Damien Williams opting out, CEH finds himself as THE guy in an Andy Reid system with Pat Mahomes at QB. *Insert drooling dog pic here* CEH is well worth the gamble in the back end of the first round. Huge upside.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
The Packers did add A.J. Dillion, who profiles as a bruising back who can steal goal-line work, but Aaron jones will be just fine. He doesn't need to score 19 TDs to be a RB1/high-end RB2 and he has always ceded some work to other RBs. The GB O-line was great last season and should be again this season. I also don't know if a RB has ever received less praise than Aaron Jones for his 49/474/3 receiving line. Draft Jones confidently.
Justin Dodds

CEH is the bellcow RB for an offense that has very strong potential to lead the league in scoring. In the 29 games Mahomes has started, the RBs in those games have scored 39 touchdowns which is about 1.35 TDs per game. If CEH gets just HALF of that TD volume, that's still ~11 TDs in 16 games, which would've put him 7th in TDs last year. Remember, when Kareem Hunt was the bellcow in 2018, he was the RB6 in half-ppr FP/g and the RB8 in ppr FP/g. The upside is too large to put him below guys like Mixon, Jones, Sanders, Jacobs, and Chubb.

Top draft pick by the Chiefs. Very good receiver for a RB who should fit perfectly into the Chiefs system. Andy Reid has had an RB1 in over 75% of his coaching seasons.Incredible player coming off an RB2 finish overall. Issue with him is the teams lack of commitment to him as a rusher. They invested draft capital into AJ Dillon and there is reason to believe Jones is the lead back to the committee.

With D. Williams opting out, CEH's workload concerns fade considerably, but he's more likely to be great because of Ekeler-like efficiency than substantial volumeWas No. 2 RB in FAN PTS, and advanced metrics supported his effort, but you have to factor in negative TD regression after 19 trips to the end zone in 2019

107 RB targets spread out to the Chiefs RB position last year. Due to injury, and coaching decisions, no RB played more than 35% of the snaps. If CEH can consolidate the targets and take charge on the backfield(like they seemingly drafted him to do), he might just be awesome. If you thought he might've been a product of the LSU offense, feel free to rely on that excuse in KC as well, should work just fine. Updated thoughts: DAMIEN WILLIAMS, the man who struggled to take over LeSean McCoy, still averaged a 63.5% snap share in 13 games(missed majority of week 11 with injury), still averaged 15.13 fantasy points in those 13 games, a pace of RB7. But now some are worried that the man drafted in the first round doesn't have the ability, or is too risky to be taken as an RB1? Dam paced for it and he couldn't even beat out McCoy while doing so, and now neither are on the team.Coming off of a year with 19 TDs and limited competition for those TDs, I just an expect a natural regression. His receiving work should keep him in the mix to easily stay inside the top 10. Just another way to say that he's miles better than Jamaal Williams is their Rushing grade, versus Run Blocking grade on PFF. Williams struggles to produce little more than what his line gives him, while Jones has been elite all 3 years with average line play. AJ Dillon is coming for Jamaal, not Aaron.

With the news that Damien Williams has opted out for the 2020 NFL season, CEH immediately shoots up into the top-10 at the RB position. While he's not going to be a "workhorse" back and see 250 carries, he's going to be heavily involved in the receiving game. I'm projecting him to have a similar workload to what Alvin Kamara has seen over the past few seasons and we know how that can translate to top-tier fantasy production in a dynamic offense. CEH can be drafted confidently in the same tier as Joe Mixon, Derrick Henry, Kenyan Drake, and Josh Jacobs.Unfortunately, the Packers went out and drafted a RB in the second round that profiles as a prolific goal line back in the NFL. Jones finished as the RB2 last season on the back of 16 touchdowns and that's unlikely to repeat in 2020. Jones has more competition for touches and may lose goal line work to AJ Dillon, but he's still one of the most talented RBs in the league and is a solid option as a RB2 for your roster.

Now that Damien Williams has opted to sit out the 2020 season, Edwards-Helaire should be the unquestioned lead running back on one of the best offenses in the NFL. He is a RB1 with upside.Aaron Jones is still a RB1 coming off a season with 1,558 yards from scrimmage and 19 total touchdowns. There are two concerns, one is that he had only 236 rushing attempts and 49 receptions to accomplish those totals. Second, the Packers also added A.J. Dillon in the NFL Draft, which could take away some touches this season.

I absolutely love Clyde Edwards-Helaire as a talent. He was sensational for LSU last year and just quietly, amazing for my college fantasy team. I was very low on him at his price until the Damien Williams hold out. He now jumps into the first round discussions for me as I don't believe Darwin Thompson and DeAndre Washington have enough to keep him off the field for more than a rest. It is very possible the Chiefs bring in a veteran and that stops me from ranking him among the elite, but he is certainly in that second tier of guys and has massive upside.Aaron Jones was a monster last year, rumbling to a RB2 finish in half-PPR while logging 49 receptions and 19 total TDs. The Packers have since shown every indication they intend to commit to the run, sadly that commitment extended to drafting AJ Dillon in the second round. Ignoring how stupid the Packers draft was, it is reason for concern for Aaron Jones fans. While he's still clearly the lead guy in the Packers backfield, he simply isn't guaranteed close to enough carries to be a reliable fantasy option. To add to the issues, Dillon is a good goal line back and will likely chip into Jones's 46 red zone looks. Jones retains is high upside but is a risk I'd rather delay to the second round in all formats.

The Kansas City Chiefs have averaged the following over the last 3 seasons: 282 rush attempts, 99 RB receptions, 4.43 rush yards per attempt, 7.4 RB yards per reception, 11.6 rushing touchdowns, 8.3 RB receiving tds Let's say, CEH only gets 60% of workload, going only on averages, he would finish with: 169 rush attempts, 60 receptions, 7 rush td, 5 rec td, 750 rush yards, 440 receiving yards He would finish with 251 PPR points. This would have had him ranked 9th last season ahead of Alvin Kamara, Saquon Barkley, Joe Mixon, Mark Ingram, and others. @BlakeAHamptonPlaying on the last year of his rookie deal, he's set to make just $735K in 2020 (none guaranteed). After leading all RBs in TDs with 19 scores and carrying his team deep into the playoffs, he's surely to be a candidate for a contract situation (good or bad). @FFHurcules
