Lineups
Dalvin Cook is yet another running back who has been working on an extension this offseason. While the star back hasn't reached an agreement with the Vikings yet, I expect him to be on the field in Week 1 as he's maintained will be the case. The offense could look a little different without Stefon Diggs and Kevin Stefanski, but Mike Zimmer is a smart coach and he knows the team's best chance to win is by running early and often.Few players elicit the oohs and aahs in a draft room when their name gets called quite like CEH. He's arguably the sexiest pick in fantasy drafts right now as the de facto workhorse in an Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes offense. After Damien Williams opted out of the season, the Chiefs have not looked to add any proven veteran talent. It's clear this is Clyde's role to lose and with his talent in this opportunity, he's going to be a fantasy superstar.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
CEH has insane upside in Kansas City's system, but the infatuation is a little out of control. I'll drop him slightly in my rankings, as I much prefer to land him in round two than round one.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Cook caused some waves early in the offseason with discussions of a potential holdout, but the new CBA essentially makes holding out a no-win situation for a player, and Cook reported when camp opened. There's no doubting Cook's value when healthy. Gary Kubiak will likely continue to employ the run-blocking scheme that fit Cook so well last year, and Cook is one of perhaps five players or so who has a legitimate chance to finish as the No. 1 running back in fantasy. The key, of course, is the "when healthy" part, as Cook has played in just 29 of 48 games in his young career. And, despite the futility of a holdout, Cook's unhappiness with his contract could potentially lead him to protect himself more than he otherwise would with minor injuries. But all of that is just window dressing given Cook's talent. His nearly limitless ceiling dictates that he be taken as a top-5 or 6 back, though drafters would be wise to lock up Alexander Mattison in the later rounds.Edwards-Helaire was probably set to be overvalued in fantasy drafts, but now that Damien Williams has opted out, he immediately vaults into reliable RB1 territory. The Chiefs spent their first-round pick on Edwards-Helaire and, regardless, pretty much any replacement value running back can find fantasy gold in Kansas City's system. There are still other running backs on the roster who will garner touches, including Darrel Williams and Darwin Thompson, and because the Chiefs' offense is so dynamic, there is no reason for them to run their rookie back into the ground. Still, without Damien Williams, Edwards-Helaire should get the majority of the touches in the backfield, and that puts him in firm RB1 territory, full stop.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
Although Cook returned for the 2018 season opener after tearing his ACL the previous October, he didn't look fully healthy while averaging 2.7 yards per carry over three September games. He finished '18 strong, then posted the best numbers of his career in 2019.Edwards-Helaire runs with the kind of balance that allows him to bounce off tacklers, and he has the twitch and quickness to pick up a chunk of yardage after he's broken a tackle. He should be able to excel as a rookie in Kansas City's high-powered offense.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It turns out Gary Kubiak is very good for a run-game. Cook took his game to another level in 2019, finishing as the No. 5 running back despite missing two games. Not only did he total 18-plus carries in eight games, but he also ranked third in yards per route run among running backs. With Stefon Diggs gone, we could see him highlighted even more in the passing game, though Justin Jefferson will eat some of them. Cook also led the league with 21 carries inside the five-yard-line. Health has always been a question mark with Cook, but when healthy, he's easily a top-10 back.I had Edwards-Helaire as my top running back in this year's class due to the way he fits the NFL today. He's a true three-down back who can catch 80-plus passes out of the backfield, while running for 1,000-plus yards. Landing with the Chiefs was a dream scenario, especially in the first round. Over the last seven years, running backs who've been drafted in the first round have averaged 280.7 touches in year one. 75 percent of them have finished as an RB2 or better. Don't think this is Darwin Thompson all over again, as he was a sixth-round pick last year, and those average just 29.8 touches in year one. This is Edwards-Helaire's backfield after Andy Reid said he's better than Brian Westbrook on film. You don't take those players off the field very often. He's worth a second-round pick and would be a steal in the third round.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
With Cook seemingly ready to report to the Vikings and play in 2020, his value remains as a sure-fire RB1. The reason I don't have him in my top-5 is because of his injury history and the emergence of Alexander Mattison as a legitimate change of pace back. Target Cook at the turn.I was excited about Edwards-Helaire before Williams opted out, now, I'm all in. He's about to enter the best offense in football which will give him scoring opportunities on a weekly basis. Dating back to 1999, there have been five RB's coached by Andy Reid who finished inside the top-10 in their first year with him. Could Edwards-Helaire make it six? I think so.

Contract discussion will be an offseason issue. If he stays healthy, Cook should have no issue finishing as a top three back in that Minnesota rushing attack.Above average rusher, dynamite pass catcher. The Chiefs made an investment that raised eyebrows, but Damien Williams opting out should make your heart skip a beat. Darkhorse candidate to finish as a top 2 RB.

Dalvin Cook has massive league winning upside! (If he can say healthy.) That's the argument I'm hearing a lot of and it always comes with that little caveat in brackets, whispered in the hope you won't notice. Sadly with Cook it's hard not to notice him breaking down towards the end of every season and surely the Vikings must be as well. When you add in the awkward contract situation and things look very iffy when it comes to taking the Viking in the first five picks. That brings me to a major problem, Alexander Mattison. Mattison isn't a special back but he's shown he can do the job absolutely fine and that means a smart coach will use him to spell Cook a lot more. That's not what you want as the Cook owner as it really caps his upside. Feel free to take Cook somewhere in the Top 5 this draft season but know you're risking your season on a very shaky foundation.I absolutely love Clyde Edwards-Helaire as a talent. He was sensational for LSU last year and just quietly, amazing for my college fantasy team. I was very low on him at his price until the Damien Williams hold out. He now jumps into the first round discussions for me as I don't believe Darwin Thompson and DeAndre Washington have enough to keep him off the field for more than a rest. It is very possible the Chiefs bring in a veteran and that stops me from ranking him among the elite, but he is certainly in that second tier of guys and has massive upside.

With Damien Williams opting out, CEH finds himself as THE guy in an Andy Reid system with Pat Mahomes at QB. *Insert drooling dog pic here* CEH is well worth the gamble in the back end of the first round. Huge upside.

At the time of writing, Cook is without a new contract and has said he will hold out without a new deal. People who drafted Le'Veon Bell a couple of years back during his season-long holdout will certainly have their doubts about drafting Cook with their first-round pick. While this is definitely something to monitor, Mattison's consensus ADP is currently #112 in half PPR redraft leagues, so handcuffing Cook with your 8-9th round pick is definitely feasible.CEH is the bellcow RB for an offense that has very strong potential to lead the league in scoring. In the 29 games Mahomes has started, the RBs in those games have scored 39 touchdowns which is about 1.35 TDs per game. If CEH gets just HALF of that TD volume, that's still ~11 TDs in 16 games, which would've put him 7th in TDs last year. Remember, when Kareem Hunt was the bellcow in 2018, he was the RB6 in half-ppr FP/g and the RB8 in ppr FP/g. The upside is too large to put him below guys like Mixon, Jones, Sanders, Jacobs, and Chubb.

Was the RB2 in PPG last year. Stefanski moves on, but still plenty of opportunity for him to thrive in the passing game again with Diggs gone. Elite RBTop draft pick by the Chiefs. Very good receiver for a RB who should fit perfectly into the Chiefs system. Andy Reid has had an RB1 in over 75% of his coaching seasons.

Initial holdout threat seems to have lost some teeth and I'm sensing that he won't sit out - likely to move to No. 5 among my RBs when that feels more like a lockWith D. Williams opting out, CEH's workload concerns fade considerably, but he's more likely to be great because of Ekeler-like efficiency than substantial volume

107 RB targets spread out to the Chiefs RB position last year. Due to injury, and coaching decisions, no RB played more than 35% of the snaps. If CEH can consolidate the targets and take charge on the backfield(like they seemingly drafted him to do), he might just be awesome. If you thought he might've been a product of the LSU offense, feel free to rely on that excuse in KC as well, should work just fine. Updated thoughts: DAMIEN WILLIAMS, the man who struggled to take over LeSean McCoy, still averaged a 63.5% snap share in 13 games(missed majority of week 11 with injury), still averaged 15.13 fantasy points in those 13 games, a pace of RB7. But now some are worried that the man drafted in the first round doesn't have the ability, or is too risky to be taken as an RB1? Dam paced for it and he couldn't even beat out McCoy while doing so, and now neither are on the team.

Dalvin Cook is the centerpiece of his offense, which is something that very few players in the NFL get to claim. At the time of writing, we're seeing him threaten to holdout if he doesn't get the contract extension he's looking for from the Minnesota Vikings. While Cook has the leverage in terms of his involvement in the offense, he still has yet to play a full 16-game season. This holdout may extend into the regular season and that's worrisome for fantasy owners. We'll have to take a wait-and-see approach right now, but he's a solid first-round pick if he does end his holdout. With the news that Damien Williams has opted out for the 2020 NFL season, CEH immediately shoots up into the top-10 at the RB position. While he's not going to be a "workhorse" back and see 250 carries, he's going to be heavily involved in the receiving game. I'm projecting him to have a similar workload to what Alvin Kamara has seen over the past few seasons and we know how that can translate to top-tier fantasy production in a dynamic offense. CEH can be drafted confidently in the same tier as Joe Mixon, Derrick Henry, Kenyan Drake, and Josh Jacobs.

Cook had a breakout season with 1,654 yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns in 2019. Cook should be a perfect fit for Gary Kubiak's running back friendly offense and he should be an elite RB1 again in 2020.Now that Damien Williams has opted to sit out the 2020 season, Edwards-Helaire should be the unquestioned lead running back on one of the best offenses in the NFL. He is a RB1 with upside.

"The things I do coming out of the backfield, the things I do in between the tackles, I block, I pretty much do it all," Cook said. "I don't have to come off the field. I think some guys just don't do as much as I do, and I think that's why I'm today's (top) back." Cook solidified himself as an elite option at the position last season, but his injury history remains lengthy and concerning. -Pioneer Press Cook has slipped a couple of spots due to him threatening a holdout. As soon as he signs something he's the RB4, but I'd hesitate drafting him until he signs something. The Kansas City Chiefs have averaged the following over the last 3 seasons: 282 rush attempts, 99 RB receptions, 4.43 rush yards per attempt, 7.4 RB yards per reception, 11.6 rushing touchdowns, 8.3 RB receiving tds Let's say, CEH only gets 60% of workload, going only on averages, he would finish with: 169 rush attempts, 60 receptions, 7 rush td, 5 rec td, 750 rush yards, 440 receiving yards He would finish with 251 PPR points. This would have had him ranked 9th last season ahead of Alvin Kamara, Saquon Barkley, Joe Mixon, Mark Ingram, and others. @BlakeAHampton

The only way Dalvin could maintain Top-3 value was if Kubiak replaced Stefanski. He did, and the zone blocking remains in place for another blow up.Could not have scripted a more perfect landing spot. Immediate Top-3 upside given the Talent + Fit + Usage + Surrounding Offense. Helaire is going to eat.
