Tate entered 2018 coming off four straight seasons with 90 or more catches despite having scored only 19 TDs during that span. He has reached the end zone 10 times for three NFC teams over 26 games the past couple of seasons, but it's hard to envision him carving out significant fantasy value in 2020 with Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram, Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard in the mix.Davis showed signs in 2018 that he was starting to emerge as a true No. 1, a perimeter receiver capable of making plays downfield. Instead, he became an afterthought in Tennessee's run-first offense as A.J. Brown established himself in his rookie season as quarterback Ryan Tannehill's top option in the passing game.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Golden Tate had his season majorly affected by injury since 2010 but still proved very effective while on the gridiron. He regularly managed double-digit half-PPR points and when you're drafting a guy in the 12th round, that's outstanding output. He's a real sleeper going into this season and could prove very valuable if the Giants offense has enough passing volume.Although the Titans had a historically efficient 2019 with a surprising amount of passing from Ryan Tannehill, Corey Davis still went oddly downhill. With A.J. Brown firmly established as lead receiver and Derrick Henry the engine of this offense, it's very hard to see Davis being a truly useful fantasy receiver. While he's available at the end of most drafts, it's important to realize he's not offering you much upside. His early PUP listing to start training camp is an additional headache you don't need.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
I remember when Tate was just a young guy in the league trying to find a role in the Seahawks offense. Here we are, now entering his 11th season at 32 years old. As you can see from the Shepard paragraph, Tate was semi-consistent with his targets, but you also have to factor in where he played on the field. Both Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram missed time throughout the year, which should've led to more targets for Tate. He had them most of the time, but even more importantly, he produced when he played. He produced WR3 or better numbers in 81.8 percent of his games last year. You know who did that more often than him? Michael Thomas. That's it. It is a new offense and Barkley/Engram are healthy, so don't expect that anymore, but understand that there's likely a place for him in fantasy football, especially when you consider the state of the Giants defense that'll be among the league's worst. He's not sexy and won't finish as a top-24 receiver, but he can be a WR4 type that you plug in when you know the Giants will be throwing a ton.It wasn't long ago where we were drafting Davis as a top-30 receiver with breakout potential. He's now going outside the top-60 wide receivers. It certainly doesn't help that he had to have toe surgery and is now missing time with the team. It's nothing major but it does put him at a major disadvantage when A.J. Brown has overtaken the alpha role on the team. When a team has averaged just 440 pass attempts over the last two years, it's tough to find more than one player with value. The wide receivers have averaged 251 targets per season and a 57 percent target share. So, even if we get Tannehill to 480 pass attempts, we're looking at 274 targets for the receivers, and we know Brown is getting roughly 21-25 percent of the overall target share. It does help that Tajae Sharpe and his 35 targets are gone, so we're trying to find a way to divvy up 135-158 targets between Davis and Adam Humphries (and others). That's enough for him to be reliable at times, especially if Tannehill can maintain some momentum from last year. We also can't forget that if Brown were to miss time, Davis would likely step into that 20-25 percent target share, and as a former first-round talent in a contract year, he could surprise. He has a little bit of a DeVante Parker feel to him, because make no mistake about it, Davis is a good football player. I like him as a late-round bench stash.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Drafting Golden Tate is never very exciting or sexy but when you're in a pinch over your flex spot, he's one of the better options you can have. He should be 2nd-year QB, Daniel Jones' safety blanket which is why he is, as usual, considerably more valuable in PPR formats over standard.Former 1st-round pick, Corey Davis has been just about as disappointing a 1st-round pick can be. In three seasons with the Titans, Davis has a total of six TDs, that's not going to cut it in fantasy. Davis does not need to be drafted in redraft leagues.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Tate still has plenty left in the tank, but this offense may be too crowded for him to be a consistently weekly fantasy option. With Sterling Shepard, Tate, Darius Slayton, Evan Engram, and Saquon Barkley all vying for targets, it's unlikely that one player significantly outproduces the rest. This season, Tate's nothing more than a WR4 unless things open up in this passing game.Davis hasn't been able to take the talent that he has and make it translate to production on the field. There's the potential that a full offseason with Ryan Tannehill as the QB will generate some more chemistry, but nothing that Davis has done up to this point in his career would indicate that that's a possibility. The benefit with Davis this season though is that the cost to acquire him is extremely low. If you're looking for someone to fill one of the last spots on your bench, it's smart to go after someone with the potential that Davis possesses.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Tate missed four games last year after his suspension but he had a very solid year when he was on the field. He finished the season ranked 31st among wide receiver in fantasy points per game (half-PPR formats) and continued to excel in producing yards after the catch. Tate will be 32 years old when the season starts and will continue to compete for targets with Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, Evan Engram, and Saquon Barkley. But in full PPR formats at least, he should be a viable flex option most weeks. In standard or half-PPR leagues, however, draft him only as a bench player.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Was heavily targeted with Jones under center. Will be a boring flex if no one is brought in.Coming off his best yards per catch season and best catch % season you'd think all is well with Corey Davis. his 69 targets and being the clear second fiddle to A.J. Brown say otherwise.
