Pack to the Future
There was plenty of hype surrounding Sutton leading up to the 2019 season and he did not disappoint. Even while playing with below-average QB play, Sutton managed 1,112 receiving yards and six TDs. Now as Drew Lock enters year two under center, we could see Sutton improve on his already impressive 2019 numbers. After a horrid finish to the 2019 season, many fantasy players seem to be avoiding David Johnson. What people are forgetting is that prior to his injury last year, Johnson was the 6th highest scoring RB with an average of over 17 points per game. Now he joins another high-flying offense in Houston and should be in a great spot to outperform his current ADP.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Let me be clear about this: The Jerry Jeudy draft pick was a great one for the Broncos, as was the KJ Hamler one. However, from a fantasy standpoint, they were terrible for Sutton. He saw 125 targets last year with absolutely no competition on the roster. Now, with Jeudy, Hamler, Melvin Gordon, and year two Noah Fant in the mix, Sutton should be considered unlikely to match that number in 2020 and beyond. The Texans gave their running backs 397 touches last year, and that was with DeAndre Hopkins on the roster. That's a lot of work. The only running back they've added was David Johnson. While Johnson looked horrendous down the stretch, it's possible he just tried to work his way back from injury way too soon. It appears Bill O'Brien isn't convinced that Johnson is done with his NFL career, like some. It's possible that he's not as electric as he once was, but guys, the Texans gave Carlos Hyde (who's still unemployed) 255 touches last year. Opportunity is key in fantasy football, and Johnson appears to be in line for a lot of it in 2020, making him a low-end RB2 with upside for more should he actually be healthy.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
4th at WR in end zone targets (14), 1st in TeamAirYards% and NFL-high 8 Defensive PI penalties drawn for 150 yards speaks to the nightmare matchup he isIf his health holds, his share of the HOU backfield workload should be major, but his potential in the passing game far outweighs his ground game at this point in career
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
I am COMPLETELY off of DJ this season. He has been a below average or injured back every year since 2016. I repeat, 2016. If you want to bet on a running back renaissance after three years of mediocrity, so be it, I will not be taking that bet.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Sutton had 1,129 yards from scrimmage and 6 touchdowns playing with 3 starting quarterbacks in 2019. If Drew Lock can emerge as a reliable starter, Sutton has the talent to be in the WR1 discussion in 2020.I do not think we will ever see 2016 David Johnson again. He joins a new team this year and he is now the lead back in the Texans offense and that should be an upgrade from RB Carlos Hyde. If he can stay healthy, Johnson should be a RB2 with some upside.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Sutton has all the talent in the world to be a top-12 fantasy wide receiver, but there are some legitimate obstacles in his way that could prevent that from happening. This offense may not throw the ball enough to return that type of target volume and he has legitimate competition for targets now with Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler. Sutton's a solid WR2 for your fantasy roster that comes with potential top-12 upside if everything goes his way.Johnson's now joining the Houston Texans and there is a huge workload waiting for him. If he can stay healthy, Johnson should easily return value this season. However, the last time that we saw Johnson, he looked like a shell of his former self. Additionally, Johnson's true fantasy value has come through his contributions in the receiving game. In Houston, with Duke Johnson also on this roster, it's difficult to see David Johnson seeing significant volume. If you draft David Johnson this year, you're betting on him staying fully healthy and him seeing a ton of work in the receiving game. Otherwise, he may go down as a wasted pick when it's all said and done.

Flacco 1-8(8 Games): 12.6ppg Allen 9-12(3 Games): 11.44ppg Lock 13-17(5 Games): 10.2ppg He averaged his least ppg with Lock but also received his only double digit target games with Lock, a growing, rookie QB with a big arm. Will be taking advantage of his 1 highly publicized run while injured in 2019, of him trying to run around the corner at the speed of your grandpa while injured. Expecting amazing health? Not necessarily, but we've seen what a 1 dimensional, rather bland back can do with the reigns, in Carlos Hyde, in 2019. I'll gladly scoop Johnson as my RB3
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Courtland Sutton had a sensational breakout in 2019, despite playing with a bizarre array of mediocre quarterbacks. Concerningly though, he wasn't at his best with Drew Lock, getting no more than five receptions in a Lock game. To add to the issues, the team has signed possession receiver Jerry Jeudy, speedster KJ Hamler, big body Albert O and superior receiving back Melvin Gordon. That means Sutton's very high 26% target share is going to take a major hit. In an offence with low passing numbers, low snap counts and for a receiver with low per-target efficiency, it's looking bleak for Courtland Sutton. He's a bust possibility with a limited ceiling in an offence that will take time to come together.Bill O'Brien has a long history of leaning on (often mediocre) running backs for 220-270 carries. Arian Foster, Alfred Blue, Lamar Miller and Carlos Hyde all became somewhat fantasy relevant in this offence and David Johnson is next on the list. The real question is how he fits in the passing game and that will make all the difference. The other D. Johnson, Duke, will certainly be a hindrance but we've seen DJ prove impossible to take off the field when things go right and it's just possible he explodes for a big season. I don't love the odds of that but even though this is very must Deshaun Watson's offence, I do think David Johnson has a very solid floor and provides a nice safe pick with solid upside.
