FantasyPros
There's only one direction for Montgomery and the Bears offense to go this year, right? They didn't address the offensive line as aggressive as I thought they would, but Mongtomery's role is safe as the only running back on the roster capable of handling 15-plus carries per game. It's also worth noting that despite not starting right out of the gate, Montgomery ranked sixth in the NFL for carries inside the five-yard-line. He may be a low-end RB2, but he's still an RB2 who's locked into 15-plus touches per game.He might have the best starting trio in the NFL after the Cowboys snagged CeeDee Lamb at No. 17 overall. We all knew they needed a third wide receiver to play in three-wide sets, but no one thought Lamb would fall to them. The Cowboys are going to find a way to lock him into a long-term contract, and it'd be wise to do it before he explodes statistically. Prescott is the best fantasy quarterback not named Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes.
Elliot Berkovits
Pack to the Future
Montgomery wasn't all too impressive as a rookie totaling 889 rushing yards and six TDs. The issue with Montgomery was his efficiency as he averaged only 3.7 ypc. Additionally, he only saw 35 targets in 2019 which downgrades him in PPR formats.Prescott is coming off a career year where he finished 2nd overall at QB. His team added Mike McCarthy, a pass-heavy coach as well as in many people's opinions the best WR in the class, CeeDee Lamb. With Zeke, Cooper, Gallup, Lamb, and McCarthy calling plays, Dak could be an MVP contender.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Montgomery had a rough 2019 season, but there are plenty of reasons to expect him to be much better in 2020. He has no real competition for carries, he was used heavily within the 10-yard line last year, and the entire Chicago offense should be better with the expected switch to Nick Foles at quarterback. Montgomery should get plenty of touches this year, which is half the battle with the position. If the Chicago offense improves just a bit, he should easily produce solid RB2 numbers, with upside for even more if everything breaks right.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Coop, Gallup, Lamb and Zeke. Ridiculous supporting cast and his ADP finally matches his production.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Monty had 267 touches last season and the Bears did nothing this off-season to suggest that that number will lessen at any point. They even brought in Nick Foles hoping for an upgrade in QB play. I don't love the player and he was awful on an efficiency basis last season, but if he could fall into the endzone a few more times this season than we could be looking at a MelGo type second-year performance.Dak had less rushing yards than Murray, Wilson, and Allen last season - all QBs that are being drafted around him - yet still had the most fantasy points of the bunch. With the added weapon of Ceedee Lamb around him and HC Mike McCarthy bringing over an offense that utilizes 3-WR sets very often, Dak is lined up for another successful fantasy season. His ceiling may not be as high as those around him, but he certainly has the highest floor.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Montgomery had 1074 yards from scrimmage and 7 touchdowns in 2019, but QB Mitchell Trubisky must improve or Nick Foles must be an upgrade for Montgomery to build on last season.Prescott had 4,902 yards passing and 30 passing touchdowns in 2019 and he will be motivated to show that the Cowboys made a mistake by not giving him a long-term deal.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
From a fantasy perspective, very few backs in the NFL are going to see the type of workload that Montgomery will in 2020. This offense should be much improved from its 2019 version and Montgomery's a screaming value at his current ADP.Dak finished as the QB2 last year for fantasy and the Cowboys just added CeeDee Lamb to this offense. Dak's a solid candidate to finish within the top-5 again in 2020.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
267 touches in 2019 were 12th among RBs. Nagy went from 6th in attempts in 2018(468), to 20th(395). I guess that happens when you aren't winning most games. He was still avoiding tackles at a high rate, much like college. Was 8th in the league with 47. However, PFF rated him as the 60th most elusive RB. What's the point of avoiding tackles if you have 10th percentile burst? 78% of top 12 RBs the last 3 years have received at least 250 touches. He obviously failed to reach top 12 with that amount last year but hard to see him not getting a similar workload in 2020 and another shot at it.So the Cowboys ranked 28th in dropped passes on offense and Dak still threw for 4900 and 30 while getting younger and more athletic at WR and TE over the offseason? 1 Dak please
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Like Le'Veon, Monty has the workload if not a great environment or transcendent talent, but there's hope that new QB Foles will be an upgrade for the offenseNo. 2 QB in FAN PTS in 2019 gets richer with rookie WR CD Lamb - M. McCarthy offenses have ranked in NFL's top half in pass attempts 10 of 13 seasons as head coach
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Montgomery is a virtual LOCK for 240 carries. There have been 125 running backs who've hit that mark over the last 10 years. Guess how many of them finished worse than RB25? None. @MikeTagliereNFL
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
It was a difficult 2019 for the Bears but it's very hard to pin the blame on David Montgomery. While he failed to do anything special (see his bizarrely low yards after contact), the whole offence was a disaster and gave him nothing to work with. The volume with remain and he's got solid RB2 potential, especially in non-PPR. Just understand you don't have a potential stud on your hands here, simpy a solid provider.Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys' fabulous four makes it really hard to dislike Dak in fantasy. He has massive upside with these elite receivers, but will ultimately be held back by a reworked O-line, questionable play-calling and the fact he's Dak Prescott. Dak is a talented player in the grand scheme of things but he just doesn't have the special talent of the truly great QBs and that, when combined with his questionable contract status, makes him a risky buy. Having said that, he's still young, was excellent last season, has a great injury record and has strong job security. Here's a random stat of warning to finish with: average points at home in 2019: 25.5, average points on the road in 2019: 19.7. He's tough to use every week so you may need a second QB, which isn't ideal for a guy you drafted so high.
