Watson has the talent to sniff the top-5 no matter what, but losing Nuk has to be seen as a huge negative.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
After averaging 202 passing yards per game over his first seven games of 2018, Prescott averaged better than 274 passing yards over his final nine games following the acquisition of WR Amari Cooper. He then averaged more than 306 yards per game in 2019.With star wideout DeAndre Hopkins having been traded in March to Arizona for declining 28-year-old running back David Johnson, Watson's fantasy outlook is more uncertain than at this time last year. Expect a bit of a drop in his 2020 passing production.
Kevin Wheeler
The Draft Zone
The Cowboys drafted CeeDee Lamb and added an improved support cast, it's going to be challenging, but in a contract year Prescott will be looking to to build off the 306 YPG he averaged in 2019.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
We all know that Cam Newton was a pretty dang good fantasy quarterback throughout his career, right? Like, one of the best of this generation. Or how about Drew Brees, he's been extremely good and consistent throughout his career. What happens when we look at them and Prescott side-by-side? Prescott's numbers have been just as good, if not better. He's never finished outside the top-12 quarterbacks and is about to play in the same system that just netted him the QB2 finish. Did I mention he also had CeeDee Lamb added to his arsenal? And do you remember all those years we drafted Aaron Rodgers as the top quarterback? That was with Mike McCarthy as his head coach (Prescott's new coach). If you're on the clock and choosing between Prescott, Kyler Murray, Deshaun Watson, and Russell Wilson, I'm choosing Prescott. There's the least number of variables with him, though Wilson is close. I'll leave you with this: Since Amari Cooper joined the team, Prescott has completed 616-of-916 passes (67.2 percent) for 7,369 yards (8.04 yards per attempt), 44 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. That's over a span of 25 games. He's also rushed for 346 yards and seven touchdowns. After finishing as the No. 4 quarterback in back-to-back seasons, many are starting to slide Watson down draft boards due to the loss of DeAndre Hopkins. We've never seen Watson without Hopkins, which certainly does raise some questions, but it also could provide an outlet for even more rushing yards for him. Watson maneuvers the pocket extremely well and buys himself time to find open receivers. Now without his safety blanket in Hopkins, we could see his rushing ceiling go up. Did you know he rushed for at least 32 yards in 9-of-15 games last year but never topped 47 rushing yards? That's odd, to say the least. The Texans defense will be as bad as it's ever been with Watson under center, which should mean even more dropbacks. The reason I'm still okay drafting Watson as a top-six quarterback: He's only thrown 26 touchdown passes in each of the last two years and has still been a top-12 type quarterback in 63.2 percent of his career games, which is the second-highest rate since 2000, behind only Patrick Mahomes. For context, there were just seven quarterbacks who topped 50 percent last year alone. Watson may not have the passing ceiling without Hopkins, but I'm expecting his rushing totals to make up for some of that, leaving him in the top-six quarterbacks.
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
For those that take a QB early, Dak should be your guy.Loss of Hopkins hurts, but a myriad of deep threats should provide big weeks
Frank Bonincontri
Fantasy Wire HQ
New coach, new system, new passing records? Pick your poison here, the triplets may be back!Without Hopkins, who becomes Watson's go-to receiver? Dont believe the Twitter hype, Deshaun is not falling off
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Coop, Gallup, Lamb and Zeke. Ridiculous supporting cast and his ADP finally matches his production.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Dak had less rushing yards than Murray, Wilson, and Allen last season - all QBs that are being drafted around him - yet still had the most fantasy points of the bunch. With the added weapon of Ceedee Lamb around him and HC Mike McCarthy bringing over an offense that utilizes 3-WR sets very often, Dak is lined up for another successful fantasy season. His ceiling may not be as high as those around him, but he certainly has the highest floor.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Prescott had 4,902 yards passing and 30 passing touchdowns in 2019 and he will be motivated to show that the Cowboys made a mistake by not giving him a long-term deal.Ideally, Watson will not be so up and down in 2020, but his season stats are undeniable. He had 3,852 yards passing and 26 passing touchdowns to go along with 413 yards rushing and 7 rushing touchdowns. The only question is the fantasy impact of not having DeAndre Hopkins, but Watson is a pretty safe QB1 at this point.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Dak finished as the QB2 last year for fantasy and the Cowboys just added CeeDee Lamb to this offense. Dak's a solid candidate to finish within the top-5 again in 2020.Even without Hopkins, Watson is going to be just fine for fantasy due to his rushing and playmaking ability. His overall ceiling will take a hit without Hopkins present, but he's still going to be a safe option to roll out every single week.

So the Cowboys ranked 28th in dropped passes on offense and Dak still threw for 4900 and 30 while getting younger and more athletic at WR and TE over the offseason? 1 Dak pleaseJust to play devil's advocate, Hopkins put up 1165 and 7 last year on 150 targets. A more spread out offense with more efficient production could Prevent Watson from really declining at all

No. 2 QB in FAN PTS in 2019 gets richer with rookie WR CD Lamb - M. McCarthy offenses have ranked in NFL's top half in pass attempts 10 of 13 seasons as head coach

Prescott is coming off a career year where he finished 2nd overall at QB. His team added Mike McCarthy, a pass-heavy coach as well as in many people's opinions the best WR in the class, CeeDee Lamb. With Zeke, Cooper, Gallup, Lamb, and McCarthy calling plays, Dak could be an MVP contender.Deshaun Watson was easily my toughest QB to place because of the loss of DeAndre Hopkins. They did bring in Brandin Cooks but he pails in comparison to Hopkins. I have Watson at 4th overall because of his incredible rushing ability. Over the last two seasons, he's combined to rush for 964 yards and 12 touchdowns. Even with Hopkins gone, Watson should have a huge year.

The Fantasy First Down
Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys' fabulous four makes it really hard to dislike Dak in fantasy. He has massive upside with these elite receivers, but will ultimately be held back by a reworked O-line, questionable play-calling and the fact he's Dak Prescott. Dak is a talented player in the grand scheme of things but he just doesn't have the special talent of the truly great QBs and that, when combined with his questionable contract status, makes him a risky buy. Having said that, he's still young, was excellent last season, has a great injury record and has strong job security. Here's a random stat of warning to finish with: average points at home in 2019: 25.5, average points on the road in 2019: 19.7. He's tough to use every week so you may need a second QB, which isn't ideal for a guy you drafted so high.A 24-year-old with PPG finishes of QB1, QB6 and QB2 should be a locked-in fantasy star. Pan to Bill O'Brien. The incompetent Texans GM/Coach/Jester continues to ruin a supremely talented passing attack by failing to protect his elite QB and trading away his best receiver for an aging RB and a hot dog. Watson remains an elite fantasy QB but Brandin Cooks is no Deandre Hopkins and Watson will feel some more value depression, despite minor O-line improvements. He's a safe QB1 but lacks true upside. Just be patient and take him if he starts to fall.

Brandin Cooks was a definite fantasy lifeboat. He's no Hopkins, but he provides Watson another explosive option alongside Fuller, which is huge considering Fuller's lack of availability.
