CEH being drafted at current ADP has the ability to be a league winner for the bold people who draft him. His hype last year is affecting his narrative. Instead of it reading "young RB in good situation looks to improve on high-end RB2 finish in his second year" it is "rookie bust enters 2021 trying to prove he is good enough for great team around him." In the end its all about perspective,The Lions have one of the best and deepest offensive lines in football coming into 2021, which is great news for Swift. Even better news is that he is on a team that just acquired a QB that loves to throw to the RB (Goff) in an offense that lacks outside weapons. Swift could easily see upwards of 100 targets for the Lions this season, even with Jammal Williams also getting touches. New OC Anthony Lynn has produced two RB2's or better multiple times in his time with the Chargers, and with almost nowhere else to go to on offense, the offense will run through Swift and Williams.

FantasyPros
I'm going to be honest, one of the most difficult players for me to project this season is Clyde Edwards-Helaire. His talent, his receiving ability out of the backfield, and the offense he's in all indicate that he should be a top-tier fantasy contributor. Unfortunately, the usage is too unpredictable to feel confident ranking him anywhere higher than a mid-range RB2. If Andy Reid commits to the run game behind this new offensive line, CEH could be a top-5 fantasy option in 2021. On the other hand, we could see more of the same from this offense this season where CEH gets a handful of carries each game, but it's not nearly enough to push him into weekly top-12 consideration. We'll need to monitor training camp reports to see if Reid is looking to change the offense a bit to lean on CEH. If he does, Edwards-Helaire could be the steal of fantasy football drafts this year. My Very Early Projection: 204-918-6 rushing & 54-424-2 receiving.Based on pure talent, Swift already belongs in the top-12 RB conversation in the NFL. Unfortunately, it's hard to have faith that Swift will finish in that range this year for fantasy purposes. While he could see plenty of targets in the passing game, the scoring opportunities on this bad Detroit Lions team probably aren't going to be very plentiful. Additionally, he now has Jamaal Williams in this backfield to compete for touches with and Anthony Lynn has been vocal about his love for utilizing a committee approach. Swift is going to be a safe RB2 for your roster this season because of the floor he'll bring you week in and week out. However, due to the offense he's in, there's virtually no upside. Think about it this way...would you have been as excited about Swift last season if he were on the New York Jets or Jacksonville Jaguars and in a near 50/50 time share? That could be the exact situation we're looking at this season in Detroit. My Very Early Projection: 206-843-5 rushing & 54-428-1 receiving.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Not many realize that Edwards-Helaire was the No. 11 running back through six weeks without Le'Veon Bell on the roster. Even better, he was the No. 11 running back while scoring just once during that time. In fact, had he scored one more touchdown, he would've been the No. 6 running back through six weeks. Once they traded for Bell, though, it ruined the stable touches he was getting. With Bell gone and no one significant brought in this offseason, Edwards-Helaire should return to his 18-plus touch role in the offense. The Chiefs have rebuilt their offensive line this year, which should help make life easier on Edwards-Helaire, who did average a solid 4.44 yards per carry his rookie season. Touchdowns are what were lacking, but don't bet on that again in what's likely to be the No. 1 scoring offense in the NFL.There were certainly flashes of what could be a great three-down back with Swift last year, but the Lions seem to have alternate plans. They snagged Jamaal Williams in free agency and signed him to a two-year deal. Then, they drafted Jermar Jefferson. Then, they brought in Todd Gurley on a free agent visit. While they didn't sign him, it's not promising for Swift's outlook, as they clearly want this to be somewhat of a timeshare. It's not to say timeshare backs can't get into the top-12 conversation - they can, but it requires a lot of scoring opportunities, something we're not expecting from the Lions offense. Swift is an extremely talented football player, but situation and opportunity knock him into clear-cut RB2 territory.

Sleepers and Busts
Edwards-Helaire was a disappointment for fantasy owners last year after getting off to a good start. Andy Reid's offense is difficult to learn and he's had an entire offseason to become more familiar with it. Reid's history is he likes to utilize one RB. The comp by scouts after watching Helaire was a better version of Brian Westbrook. And the Chiefs' offense is more explosive than the Eagles offense that Westbrook was a part of. Looked at Chiefs' Kingdom, he is finally there, to sit on his thrown as The Prince of Helaire. I'm a buyer of the Fresh Prince of Helaire!Swift is a really talented RB, but he isn't big enough to be a three down RB. He'll wear down. The Lions signed RB Jamaal Williams from Green Bay in free agency. He'll probably see the goal line work. He's a better power runner. There's also rumors that Detroit is interested in Todd Gurley. Some members of the Lions front office came over from L.A. when Gurley was playing for the Rams. Detroit's offense isn't that great anyway. This is one of those where I like the player, but hate the situation type of deals. Why some analysts are taking DeAndre Swift so early (3rd round) is beyond me. They might as well take Taylor Swift instead. At that price point, I think DeAndre Swift is a bust in 2021. Avoid
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
It wasn't a bad rookie season by any means for Swift, as he finished as the 18th-ranked running back in half-PPR formats and did strong work as a receiver, totaling an impressive 1.58 yards per route run. New offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn made some waves with his comments about Jamaal Williams essentially playing as the primary back, but, even if true, we've seen backs in Lynn's system succeed as complementary pass-catching options. There are also plenty of vacated targets in Detroit and Jared Goff is sure to look for Swift as his safety net. Add it all up and Swift is a decent RB2 in half-PPR formats, but one with a fairly hard cap on his upside.
Brendan Tuma
FantasyPros
CEH is once again a polarizing player within fantasy circles. After busting as a first-round selection in 2020, Edwards-Helaire ultimately proved to be more "consistent" than "dominant" as a fantasy running back. The arrival of Le'Veon Bell midway through the year killed his chances of returning the investment managers made in him, as Edwards-Helaire averaged just 2.8 catches per game despite playing with Patrick Mahomes in an Andy Reid offense. Still, he totaled more rushing yards than Antonio Gibson, and the Chiefs chose not to re-sign either Bell or Damien Williams. Destined for positive TD regression given the amount of touches he should receive in an elite offense, CEH is a no-brainer selection in Round 3 of summer drafts.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
Love the removal of Damien Williams, who had the potential to be a true thorn in his side. Bell also gone, and the team added the mauling OT Orlando Brown. All these should help CEH reach the limitless ceiling that had us drooling a little prematurely last yearImproved line, huge target upside, run-it-all-out coach. Love this offseason for Swift -- except Anthony Lynn calling Jamaal WIlliams the "A Back?" And now looking at Gurley? Maybe he's not projected for the Bell Cow role we had thought...

Who's going to take RB touches from him?
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
CEH averaged 13.9 fantasy points per game in the first 7 games of the year and fell to 10.1 fantasy points the rest of the way as injuries slowed him down. CEH feels like he should be a RB1 in that offense, but I think durability, consistency, and timeshare concerns keep him out of the RB1 discussion and make him more of a RB2.Swift averaged a healthy 12.8 fantasy points in 13 games last year and he figures to see more work as the featured back in Detroit. He should be an upside RB1 in 2021.
