Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Not many expecting Ingram to finish as an RB1 with Lamar Jackson under center, thinking he'd lose some of the goal-line carries to the mobile quarteback. Despite the fact that Ingram had more than 15 carries just twice all season, he finished as the No. 8 running back. We aren't banking on that happening again, especially when the Ravens drafted JK Dobbins in the second round of the NFL Draft. Ingram is going to be 31 years old this year, while Dobbins and Justice Hill have young, fresh legs. We could see Ingram lose a few carries a game, but provided he's healthy, we should still expect him to lead this timeshare and be a borderline RB2.There's only one direction for Montgomery and the Bears offense to go this year, right? They didn't address the offensive line as aggressive as I thought they would, but Mongtomery's role is safe as the only running back on the roster capable of handling 15-plus carries per game. It's also worth noting that despite not starting right out of the gate, Montgomery ranked sixth in the NFL for carries inside the five-yard-line. He may be a low-end RB2, but he's still an RB2 who's locked into 15-plus touches per game.
Elliot Berkovits
Pack to the Future
Once again, Mark Ingram finds himself in a crowded backfield in Baltimore after the addition of rookie JK Dobbins. That being said, with no preseason games to be played, I don't expect Dobbins to be a factor early in the season which should give Ingram an opportunity to take control fo the lead role in Baltimore. How long he holds onto it is the question.Montgomery wasn't all too impressive as a rookie totaling 889 rushing yards and six TDs. The issue with Montgomery was his efficiency as he averaged only 3.7 ypc. Additionally, he only saw 35 targets in 2019 which downgrades him in PPR formats.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Seeing him go mid-20s at RB in many drafts, which is silly - BAL offense is a juggernaut and Ingram likely to see 220+ touches and lucrative goal line work yet againLike Le'Veon, Monty has the workload if not a great environment or transcendent talent, but there's hope that new QB Foles will be an upgrade for the offense
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Montgomery had a rough 2019 season, but there are plenty of reasons to expect him to be much better in 2020. He has no real competition for carries, he was used heavily within the 10-yard line last year, and the entire Chicago offense should be better with the expected switch to Nick Foles at quarterback. Montgomery should get plenty of touches this year, which is half the battle with the position. If the Chicago offense improves just a bit, he should easily produce solid RB2 numbers, with upside for even more if everything breaks right.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Monty had 267 touches last season and the Bears did nothing this off-season to suggest that that number will lessen at any point. They even brought in Nick Foles hoping for an upgrade in QB play. I don't love the player and he was awful on an efficiency basis last season, but if he could fall into the endzone a few more times this season than we could be looking at a MelGo type second-year performance.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Ingram had a great first year in Baltimore with 1,265 yards from scrimmage and 15 touchdowns. The addition of J.K. Dobbins has a chance to hurt his fantasy value this year, making Ingram more of a RB2.Montgomery had 1074 yards from scrimmage and 7 touchdowns in 2019, but QB Mitchell Trubisky must improve or Nick Foles must be an upgrade for Montgomery to build on last season.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Ingram is going to be splitting this backfield with JK Dobbins this season, but he should still be the lead back. There are plenty of fantasy points for the running backs to go around in this offense though and Ingram is a fantastic selection at his current ADP.From a fantasy perspective, very few backs in the NFL are going to see the type of workload that Montgomery will in 2020. This offense should be much improved from its 2019 version and Montgomery's a screaming value at his current ADP.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Ingram has a 4 million dollar salary which is very reasonable and a 5.3 million dollar cap hit if cut. Hard to see them moving on from him.Montgomery is a virtual LOCK for 240 carries. There have been 125 running backs who've hit that mark over the last 10 years. Guess how many of them finished worse than RB25? None. @MikeTagliereNFL
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Mark Ingram was a shock fantasy stud in 2019, though he relied unsustainably on his 15 TDs. This included an incredible TD every five receptions. Now the supremely talented JK Dobbins joins the fun and it's scary for a guy that already had regression coming. That being said though, this offence had 596 rushes and Ingram had barely a third of them so there's plenty to go around. If the 41 RB receptions increase or the offence relies a little less on Lamar Jackson's designed runs, we may see an increase in Ingram's volume. While the offence's overall efficiency and Ingram's TD number will surely regress, there's still value here as a fourth round pick with RB1 upside. It was a difficult 2019 for the Bears but it's very hard to pin the blame on David Montgomery. While he failed to do anything special (see his bizarrely low yards after contact), the whole offence was a disaster and gave him nothing to work with. The volume with remain and he's got solid RB2 potential, especially in non-PPR. Just understand you don't have a potential stud on your hands here, simpy a solid provider.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Back to back years as the number 1 rushing team. 15 TDs are unlikely to repeat but all the pieces are returning on offense. Should be able to retain RB2 value for 1 more year IF he can hold off Dobbins. There's a chance the timeshare becomes more lopsided by the end of the year.267 touches in 2019 were 12th among RBs. Nagy went from 6th in attempts in 2018(468), to 20th(395). I guess that happens when you aren't winning most games. He was still avoiding tackles at a high rate, much like college. Was 8th in the league with 47. However, PFF rated him as the 60th most elusive RB. What's the point of avoiding tackles if you have 10th percentile burst? 78% of top 12 RBs the last 3 years have received at least 250 touches. He obviously failed to reach top 12 with that amount last year but hard to see him not getting a similar workload in 2020 and another shot at it.
