FantasyPros
Ingram should be a nice addition to the Ravens running game and he will be the lead back in the committee. It will be a crowded backfield with both RB Gus Edwards and RB Justice Hill fighting for playing time.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It's clear the Bears didn't think Jordan Howard fit their offensive scheme after sending him away for a sixth-round pick, right? So, what does that say about Montgomery, who they traded up into the third-round to get? Howard finished as the RB20 in his first season under Matt Nagy. Montgomery was likely the best pure runner in the draft who's already shown the ability to handle a workhorse role, and offers more in the passing-game than Howard did, though most of that work will go to Tarik Cohen. Montgomery was drafted on a team that's built to win right now, which means he'll have big value immediatelyLeaving the nest of the Saints' offense is something Ingram has never had to do, so life may seem a bit more difficult in Baltimore. It's a good thing that they'll be a run-first team with Lamar Jackson under center, but it's also a bad thing around the goal-line, as Jackson is more of a threat to score than Ingram. The Ravens drafted Justice Hill, and still have Kenneth Dixon and Gus Edwards on the roster, so it may be more of a timeshare than some believe, though Ingram should be the leader in the clubhouse. His lack of upside drops him below some of the other options in his range

Breaking Football
I love what I've seen from Montgomery and as a Packers fan, it brings tears to my eyes. He's going to be very good right away and I feel like I should be ranking him higher.Should we be worried about Justise Hill? Probs. But Ingram is a very solid back in a run-first offense. You won't be mad you drafted him.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
The Bears drafted Montgomery in the third round and he has been impressive so far this preseason. If he was all there was in the Bears backfield then fantasy owners would likely be drafting him as a low-end RB1. But of course they still have Tarik Cohen and they signed Mike Davis, so Montgomery is going to need to share the workload. Given the positive talk about him leading into the season, however, Montgomery should be drafted as a mid-tier RB2.Whether you want to believe in Ingram or you don't, you have plenty of ammunition. Those looking to buy can point to the fact that he averaged over 4.5 yards per carry over each of the last four seasons and will now play in a Greg Roman offense that will likely lead the league in rushing attempts. Those avoiding Ingram can point to his age (29), his PED suspension, and the fact that in each of the last three years, the lead running back for the Ravens at the start of the year as lost his job. Your best bet is to go somewhere in between - buy Ingram as a likely low-end RB2, but have depth at running back if you draft him.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Mark Ingram is one of my main targets this season in redraft. Justice Hill is mostly an analyst-fueled hype machine at this point and the coaches have shown little inclination to use him how most hoped. There's a good chance Ingram sees 18+ touches per game. @ConnorAllenNFL
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Draws K. Hunt comparisons because of his vision, versatility, break-tackle running style, and former KC OC M. Nagy drafting Montgomery leads to thoughts that he's looking for his next Hunt in CHIHe's a proven, productive 3-down back that will take on a lead role for what should be one of the most run-heavy teams (again) - decent shot at 250+ touches
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Since PFF started tracking college football, no running back has forced more than 100 missed tackles in a season. Except David Montgomery, who has done it twice. Montgomery was an absolute workhorse for Iowa State over the course of his collegiate career, he racked up 1200 yards last season with the most missed tackles overall and the most missed tackles per attempt which is even more impressive. He's elusive, he's a good pass blocker, he wasn't super involved in the passing game and wasn't a very good route runner when given the opportunity, but showed some solid hands. Had 71 total receptions in his career without a single drop, so wouldn't be super surprised to see him get a little more work pass catching in the NFL but might need some time to develop if he wants to be a true three down back.Ingram is up there in age and has never really had a backfield to himself, however there is a lot of potential in an offense that may break rush attempt records. He is in line to be the lead back and barring health, should see over 250 rush attempts.

Jordan Howard had 1,080 total yards and 9 TDs despite seemingly disappearing from the offense at times last season. If that is the baseline for Montgomery, he'll likely match or exceed the value at his ADP. The issue? Mike Davis may be a thorn in his side after signing in the offseason, starting the first preseason game, and being backed by Nagy throughout the offseason.Lamar Jackson had around 14-20 rushes per game last season whereas whereas the Baltimore RBs COMBINED for around 20-28. That certainly leaves some room for production, but how many targets can we expect Ingram to see? With Hill, Gus the Bus, and even Dixon in the mix, Ingram will likely be more TD-dependent than expected.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Jordan Howard is now gone after producing for fantasy owners despite lackluster efficiency. Many will take this to mean that the much more talented Montgomery will become a stud from day one, but Mike Davis is in town now too and Tarik Cohen isn't going anywhere so it might not happen quite so quickly.Ingram has been great in the Saints offense over the last few seasons but that does not mean he will fit well in a different offense, especially as a 30-year-old. Sure, the Ravens brought in Ingram but let's not forget that Gus Edwards was terrific to close the season and the Ravens also drafted the electric Justice Hill. Ingram certainly has RB2 potential, but this is shaping up to be a three-headed monster splitting the workload.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
David Montgomery is a very interesting pick in the middle rounds of drafts this season. He's a better RB than Jordan Howard, and he's a much better weapon in the passing game. So, it seems like a no brainer that you should be targeting him at his 4th round ADP. They spent an early third round pick on him, their defense is still going to be elite, and their offense is on track to finish in the top 10. All of this sets Montgomery up for an amazing rookie season. There are some risks though. The Bears have said that they want to cycle in Mike Davis on early downs, and that Cohen will still be used as a pass catcher. So, this has the potential to be a committee. At the end of the day, we're going to see how they plan on running this offense during the preseason, so I'll be able to adjust my rankings accordingly. Right now, my take is that Davis is a very small threat, and that Montgomery is more likely than not to pay off his ADP. If they gave Howard 250+ carries in each of his three seasons, than Montgomery should approach that at the very least, with an expanded passing game role as well.My projections absolutely hate Mark Ingram this season. He's going to see very little work in the passing game, and Justice Hill is going to take some of his early down work. This is a great rushing offense though...so he's going to be very efficient on the ground. I just can't justify his current ADP. He's going to get carries and TD's vultured by multiple players, and he won't be able to make up for it with his receiving stats. There are better RB's going in his range, so target them instead.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
Montgomery steps into a dynamic offense and immediately becomes the starting running back for the Chicago Bears. Montgomery displayed exceptional elusiveness, vision and receiving ability in college and this sets him up extremely well to have a solid rookie campaign. Even with all the weapons there in Chicago, Montgomery is going to receive a ton of volume week in and week out. He's a solid RB2 for your fantasy team that you can get right now in the mid to late rounds.Mark Ingram is a screaming value at his current ADP. The Ravens have reinforced their offensive philosophy to run the ball this offseason and Ingram is going to be at the center of it all. 220+ carries isn't out of the question for Ingram and there will be running lanes galore for him as defenses attempt to eliminate Lamar Jackson's running abilities. Ingram is the perfect RB to snag in the mid-rounds of your draft and roll out week after week.
