FantasyPros
Bridgewater hasn't opened the season as a team's starter since 2015, when he made the Pro Bowl for Minnesota, though he played a key role in the Saints' road to the playoffs in 2019. In five games of relief duty for Drew Brees, Bridgewater racked up 1,384 passing yards, 9 TDs, and 2 INTs with a 5-0 record. Things will be different with the division rivals this season, and Bridgewater should be asked to do more than play game manager for a team that will likely struggle. He's got a quality cast of pass-catchers around him in D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, Curtis Samuel, and Christian McCaffrey, and he looks like a fine streamer target and 2QB mainstay. Week 1's matchup with Las Vegas is friendly.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Carr flashes ability, and he does have a pretty good array of weapons around him now. However, he's inconsistent and Mariota is breathing down his neck.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
Bridgewater led New Orleans to a 5-0 record while racking up nine touchdown passes with only two interceptions over five starts while Drew Brees was sidelined last season. He'll be Carolina's starter after signing a three-year, 63 million contract in March. The two-year, $17.6 million contract the Raiders gave to Marcus Mariota came with a $7.5-million guarantee in 2020. While that suggests Mariota will be given a chance to win the starting job, the more likely scenario is that Carr remains the team's starter.
Bart Wheeler
Hail to Fantasy Football
With solid receiving options in Carolina, Bridgewater is flying under the radar in fantasy drafts right now. He's virtually undrated in all single QB leagues, and he could easily be a top-15 or 20 QB this year. I'm slapping the Sleeper tag on him, and it's kind of crazy to me how little buzz he's getting this offseason.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
The Panthers look to be heading full rebuild in 2020 and that could mean two things. One, they try to shorten game, run all day and keep their defense off the field. Or two, they get stuck in a heap of shootouts and have to unleash Teddy B. With some serious quality in CMC, DJ Moore, Robby Anderson and Curtis Samuel, there's the possibility with a lot of passing upside in this offense, I just don't see it happening with any regularity or predictability, not do I think Bridgewater is good enough to rely on as anything more than a superflex/streaming option.Derek Carr remains a totally uninspiring fantasy option. The Raiders didn't help his chances by passing up on elite talents like Lamb and Jeudy, instead taking field stretcher Henry Ruggs before adding speedster Bryan Edwards. I don't get what the plan is here and I'm not high on Carr's chances of bringing this odd offense together. Add in his questionable job security and he's best left on waivers outside the deepest of leagues.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It's going to be tough for the Panthers to have much success this year, as they have a new head coach, new play-caller, new quarterback, and an offensive line that's been shifted around, all while having very little offseason practice time. The defense is in a position to allow a ton of points, which does add appeal to Bridgewater. We should see him rack up the pass attempts, and it doesn't hurt to know that his 6.2 intended air yards per target was the lowest in the league, which should mean a lot of short completions to D.J. Moore and Christian McCaffrey. The issue is that Bridgewater offers no mobility after his reconstructive knee surgery. That means he'll have to be more efficient than other pocket passers available later in the draft, guys like Kirk Cousins and Jared Goff. Again, with no offseason, that's going to be incredibly hard to do. Save Bridgewater for 2QB leagues where he's a great target as a No. 2 quarterback with no chance to lose the starting job.You may or not know that Mike Mayock had an affinity towards Mariota during the 2015 NFL Draft. He's the GM of the Las Vegas Raiders, so when he got the opportunity to sign Mariota, he did. This is not great news for Carr, who has been solid, but not irreplaceable over the last two seasons under the Jon Gruden/Mayock regime. But instead of replacing him, they gave him competition, even if it's one he should win fairly easily. He's going to have a much better surrounding cast in 2020, as the Raiders drafted three skill-position players in the top three rounds of the draft, including wide receiver Henry Ruggs at No. 12 overall. The issue with liking Carr, however, is that he's never going to be an every-week starting quarterback in 1QB leagues; we've learned that by now. He's also not someone you can fully trust as your QB2 in Superflex/2QB formats now that he has actual competition on the roster.

One of the best QB's in the league on 3rd down, and some speedy weapons on the outside have me liking the Raiders offense more and more. Then I look at that defense

Bridgewater finds himself starting once again, this time in Carolina. I don't think there could've been a better fit for Bridgewater than with the Panthers. He'll have Christian McCaffrey to rely on in the backfield as well as speedsters DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel on the outside. Bridgewater is known for his affinity for check-downs and no team is better suited for that than the Panthers.I believe Carr is an underrated real-life QB, but when it comes to fantasy, he doesn't carry much value. The addition of Henry Ruggs is exciting but unlikely to turn Carr into a fantasy-relevant QB. Unless you're playing in a 2 QB league, there is no need to draft Carr.

The Panthers are going to have to throw the ball a ton this upcoming season to keep up in games. While it's unlikely that Bridgewater throws for more than 25 touchdowns, he's got a pretty good supporting cast around him. Bridgewater will be in the streaming conversation more than a few times in 2020.Carr isn't necessarily worth drafting this season in 1QB leagues, but he's someone to keep an eye on on your waiver wire in case there's immediate chemistry with his new receiving weapons.

Carr was a lot better than you think in 2019, and it results in some great comps for 2020. In particular, his CPOE of 5% and PACR of 1.22 are huge numbers. Second year in a row the underlying numbers say that Carr is likely pretty good. @Amicsta

Bridgewater legitimately offer Cheat Code upside in Joe Brady's LSU-insired Spread / RPO attack which he already has a base understanding of given their time together in NOLA. A potential cheat code.
