Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
From a fantasy perspective, very few backs in the NFL are going to see the type of workload that Montgomery will in 2020. This offense should be much improved from its 2019 version and Montgomery's a screaming value at his current ADP.Even without Hopkins, Watson is going to be just fine for fantasy due to his rushing and playmaking ability. His overall ceiling will take a hit without Hopkins present, but he's still going to be a safe option to roll out every single week.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
There is plenty of reason to consider Kyler as your #4 fantasy quarterback ahead of Watson now that DeAndre Hopkins is out of town but frankly, fantasy value has much more to do with volume than surrounding talent. The Texans should be bad this season which ought to lead to an additional 50+ pass attempts in 2020 than we've grown used to seeing. That alone would more than supplement the fantasy impact of losing Hopkins.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Like Le'Veon, Monty has the workload if not a great environment or transcendent talent, but there's hope that new QB Foles will be an upgrade for the offense
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Montgomery is a virtual LOCK for 240 carries. There have been 125 running backs who've hit that mark over the last 10 years. Guess how many of them finished worse than RB25? None. @MikeTagliereNFL
Bart Wheeler
Hail to Fantasy Football
I keep moving him up, thinking he could improve on his rookie year and be a solid RB2.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
267 touches in 2019 were 12th among RBs. Nagy went from 6th in attempts in 2018(468), to 20th(395). I guess that happens when you aren't winning most games. He was still avoiding tackles at a high rate, much like college. Was 8th in the league with 47. However, PFF rated him as the 60th most elusive RB. What's the point of avoiding tackles if you have 10th percentile burst? 78% of top 12 RBs the last 3 years have received at least 250 touches. He obviously failed to reach top 12 with that amount last year but hard to see him not getting a similar workload in 2020 and another shot at it.Just to play devil's advocate, Hopkins put up 1165 and 7 last year on 150 targets. A more spread out offense with more efficient production could Prevent Watson from really declining at all
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
There's only one direction for Montgomery and the Bears offense to go this year, right? They didn't address the offensive line as aggressive as I thought they would, but Mongtomery's role is safe as the only running back on the roster capable of handling 15-plus carries per game. It's also worth noting that despite not starting right out of the gate, Montgomery ranked sixth in the NFL for carries inside the five-yard-line. He may be a low-end RB2, but he's still an RB2 who's locked into 15-plus touches per game.Let's be clear: Losing your No. 1 receiver (DeAndre Hopkins) that you targeted nearly 10 times per game is going to hurt production, especially when he was the type of receiver you could throw the ball up to in one-on-one situations and expect him to win. The Texans now have Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks, Randall Cobb, Kenny Stills, and Keke Coutee as his primary receivers. That's a list complied of speed and slot... that's it. Watson might be running more than ever in 2020, which is very appealing to fantasy owners, but his efficiency through the air is going to come down. We've never seen Watson without Hopkins, so he comes with an additional level of concern that you don't want when selecting a quarterback in the top six rounds.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Montgomery had 1074 yards from scrimmage and 7 touchdowns in 2019, but it is hard to see how he builds on that season with QB Mitchell Trubisky and a bad offensive line still there in 2020. He is a low-upside flex option.Ideally, Watson will not be so up and down in 2020, but his season stats are undeniable. He had 3,852 yards passing and 26 passing touchdowns to go along with 413 yards rushing and 7 rushing touchdowns.
