Bart Wheeler Hail to Fantasy Football | I'll leave Watson in a QB tier of his own until we know more about a potential suspension this season...
Justin Lampkin Clock Management Fantasy Football | Watson's draft value will heavily depend on if the league hands down a suspension or not.
Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | Weapons are the name of the game with Stafford, who finished the season 11th in fantasy points per game (20.4) on the back of 41 passing touchdowns. Forty-plus TDs is no easy feat and should not be overlooked by fantasy drafters in 2022, especially because it was Stafford's first season in Sean McVay's offense. | Deshaun Watson's a no-doubt top-five option when he gets back on the field. He was exactly that from 2019-2020, and there is no reason to think the 26-year old won't pick up where he left off. During his last season of play, Watson led the NFL in passing yards and yards per attempt (8.9). Just be wary that a 4-8 game suspension will likely be coming down for Watson. However, that would not shy me away from him or any of his teammates because fantasy leagues - both redraft and best ball tournaments - are won in November/December, not September. |
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | Stafford had an incredible first fantasy season in Los Angeles finishing the fantasy season with 4,648 yards and 38 passing touchdowns. He should be a great QB1 option in 2022 coming off a season where he won his first Super Bowl. | Watson joins a Browns offense that runs the ball a ton and there is no guarantee he plays all 17 games with his legal issues unresolved. Throw in that he missed all of the 2021 season and he is one of the biggest unknowns for 2022. |
Derek Brown FantasyPros | Matthew Stafford is thoroughly enjoying his new marriage with Sean McVay. His first year in a Rams jersey led to a career-high completion rate (67.2%) and tying his career-high in passing touchdowns (41) en route to a Super Bowl title. Stafford was the QB11 in fantasy points per game after ranking inside the top ten in deep ball attempts, deep ball completion percentage, and pressured completion rate. Stafford should be considered a rock-solid back-end QB1.
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | Now gets to chuck to ARob - if he's got anything left, Stafford could explode even further in 2022
Pat Fitzmaurice FantasyPros | First year in Los Angeles resulted in a QB5 fantasy finish, his best since 2013. Stafford's ecosystem should remain strong: He has wunderkind Sean McVay calling plays for him, he has a superstar WR in Cooper Kupp, and he now gets Allen Robinson as a QB2. The upside is limited for a non-running QB, but Stafford's floor is sturdy. | We don't know what sort of discipline Watson might face after nearly two dozen civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and inappropriate behavior. What we do know is that in three full seasons as the Texans' starter, Watson finished QB4, QB5 and QB5 in fantasy scoring. The only QB who can match Watson's combination of passing and rushing ability is Josh Allen. Watson will now be helming a Browns offense that was run-heavy with Baker Mayfield at quarterback but should be more freewheeling in 2022. The change of scenery, a possible suspension and the accumulation of rust after a year off are all concerns, but Watson is still a difference-maker at the QB position. |
