Lineups
I loved the Devin Singletary breakout last season and I believe in the Bills as a dark horse Super Bowl contender this season. However, the drafting of Zack Moss will impact Singletary's workload as Moss is a talented player with three-down potential. This is going to be more of a committee than most expect , and we shouldn't expect this to be a high-octane offense. Singletary will be serviceable but there's guys I'd rather have in his range.Bruce Arians has just never fully bought in on Ronald Jones. As a holdover from the prior regime, Arians has kept Jones on a tight leash for the past two years. He was expected to become the starting running back for the Bucs' offense, but the team drafted Ke'Shawn Vaugh and signed LeSean McCoy and Leonard Fournette. I still believe in Jones's talent, but with all of the mouths to feed in the backfield, it will be difficult to take any Tampa running back before the double-digit rounds. Jones is still my favorite target of the bunch but it's a hazy situation.
John Hesterman
Dynasty League Football
Reports out of camp have indicated that Singletary is struggling with fumbling issues. While he may open the season as the starter, Zack Moss could gain a leg up if Singletary continues to struggle with protecting the football.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
A compact, slippery back who effectively picks his way for yardage between the tackles, Singletary showed the ability as a rookie to be surprisingly effective through contact. Reports from training camp suggest that Zack Moss could earn enough playing time to limit Singletary's breakout upside.
Bart Wheeler
Hail to Fantasy Football
He was a target for me before the Fournette signing, and now he's nearly out of my top-40 RBs.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Singletary will remain in his change-of-pace role with Zack Moss now in town. Singletary should hover around the RB2/RB3 border all season long. The Bucs have shown us all offseason that they're not fully confident that Jones can be THE guy. They're in win now mode with Tom Brady behind center, which means that they don't want any potential weak spots on their roster. They did the smart thing from a team building perspective and brought in Leonard Fournette just mere days away from the start of the 2020 NFL season. This effectively crushes Jones' upside this season and he is now moved down to RB4 territory. While I do think Jones will hold onto the job for the first few weeks of the season, due to Fournette not even knowing the scheme or what number he's wearing yet, he'll lose it eventually. He'll be part of a committee and he'll have some bench stash appeal in fantasy, but all of the hope for Jones breaking out this season is essentially gone now.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Devin Singletary had a truly bizarre 2019, splitting touches 180-179 with plodder Frank Gore, getting only 4 touches inside the 10-yard line and only getting 29 receptions. So while Zack Moss will surely have a more meaningful role than Gore, it's likely Singletary will have more touches in 2020, with 200 a reasonable number. Sadly, while his receptions may slightly increase, as one of the league's smallest backs it's highly unlikely he'll get any of the valuable goal line touches. His only path to true upside is a Moss injury, as 2019 proved even a mediocre performance by his teammate won't lead to Singletary becoming a workhorse. Don't get sucked into the hype, Devin's at best a low-RB2 and that would require improvement on last season.Ronald Jones had a disappointing sophomore season, splitting carries with reliable plodder Peyton Barber and struggling with pass-protection. Nevertheless, there were positive signs for the 22-year-old as he started to establish himself with a couple of 100+ yard performances to end the season. Sadly, the Buccs have muddied the waters by drafting Ke'Shawn Vaughn and bringing in LeSean McCoy and more recently, Leonard Fournette. That makes RoJo very hard to trust this season. This is a backfield worth avoiding until the very late rounds.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Jones' value was ascending right up until the Bucs signed Leonard Fournette, after which it dropped significantly. Fournette's contract suggests he's going to see (or at least he signed expecting to see) significant playing time, which likely moves him into a rough timeshare with Jones. Both Fournette and Jones can be drafted as Flexes, but Jones is more likely to contribute earlier in the season while Fournette gets comfortable with the offense. Draft Jones if you need someone immediately, but Fournette if you're taking a longer-term view.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
There were many celebrating the end of the Frank Gore era in Buffalo, but they went out and added one of my favorite backs in the draft, Zack Moss, to use in that Gore role. GM Brandon Beane said, "I think more of the goal line and things like that as we did with Frank last year, you'll see Zack do. I think Devin will do a similar role that he had." This is your reminder that Singletary had just two carries inside the five-yard-line all year, while Josh Allen had five, and Frank Gore had 11. That's a crushing blow to Singletary's value. We heard the Bucs say all offseason that Jones was their guy. We didn't even hear about them meeting with any of the free agent running backs. Then we heard the name Keshawn Vaughn in the third round, creating a problem for Jones. When teams select a running back on Day 2, it's typically to play them right out of the gate, even if it's not a clear-cut loss of the job for Jones. No matter which way you slice it, he has some new and improved competition. Another update: The Bucs signed Leonard Fournette after he was cut by the Jaguars, adding uncertainty to Jones' draft stock. He may get the first snap, but this reeks of a timeshare, similar to the one that Jones and Peyton Barber had last year.
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
Chance to be an underrated asset due to the Zack Moss hype. Solid RB3 target in the middle roundsHe's the starter, whether you agree with it or not. Low ceiling RB3 selection

The selection of Zach Moss in the draft signals a commitment to Singletary (again) not getting goalline work for a second season. I love Singletary as a bye week fill in only for fantasy purposes. If he is there in the draft, ehhhhhh we'll see but I would likely scoop a few others over him.

Efficient rookie RB who started slowly becoming a workhorse as the season finished last year. We want to be chasing efficiency, but also have to take into account that they drafted Zack Moss who will likely take the goal line work away. Not as much upside here, but should be a serviceable RB.Jones was a great RB prospect coming out. Was efficient last year and was very good as a receiver. 6/7 other RBs to have over 7.5 YPT on 35 targets at either 21or 22 went on to have a top 5 RB finish at some point in their career. Lots of upside here.

Singletary dealt with Frank Gore and injuries in 2019 and he still managed to score over 11 fantasy points per game. Now he's the clear-cut lead back in an ascending offense. I like Singletary as a low-end RB2/ high-end flex.Jones began to show flashes of potential as the season progress last year and now in a revamped Bucs offense, he has legitimate upside. While there is upside, there are also plenty of risks involved in this pick. The Bucs just spent a 3rd-round pick on Ke'Shawn Vaughn as well as signing veteran LeSean McCoy. I think it's going to come down to Jones versus Vaughn and whoever wins should have legitimate fantasy value.

4th in Breakaway% (runs of 15+ yards) - Rookie Moss likely to take F. Gore's role but Singletary should push 250 touches while making strides in the pass game

Devin Singletary had just 3 rush attempts inside the 10. Frank Gore (18) & Josh Allen (11) combined for 29 rush att inside the 10. Combined this would have ranked 5th in the NFL in 2019. With Zack Moss assuming the 'Frank Gore' role, we probably won't see Singletary's upside in 2020. @TheFantasyPTJones tallied a strong 10.0 yards per catch on his 31 receptions. Pro Football Focus graded him just 73rd among all RBs in receiving. He fared better by Football Outsiders metrics, though, ranking 17th in DVOA and 20th in DYAR among 50 qualifying backs. PFF liked his rushing better, grading Jones 43rd at the position. FO had him 24th among 45 qualifiers in rushing DVOA, though at a rate below average-level performance. Fantasy wise, Jones ranked 35th in PPR points per game. @SchaufDS

Emerged from the NFL Draft less scathed than anticipated. He might lose the job to Rookie Vaughn, but as of now Jones also could remain a three-down guy in one of the NFL's highest powered offenses.

Frank Gore out rushed him 166-151. If he returns, I think that number goes Singletary's way. He was far more efficient with his carries. My Only worry is that the team might not let him get over 200 touches often because of his size, but that's not up to me. He paced at just over 200 carries in 12 games but this with getting minimal work in his first 4 games. Was on pace for 262 after the first 4 games played.
