This article backs Aaron Jones as #Packers likeliest lead back in 2018, noting his explosive running ability & Aaron Rodgers' "unequivocal" support for Jones: https://amp.packersnews.com/amp/784765002?__twitter_impression=true … @EvanSilva After spraining MCLs in both knees last season, Aaron Jones has worked to strengthen his lower body. If he gets hurt again this summer, expect the Packers to inquire about Carlos Hyde. Source: wireless listening device. @GhostTesla Could get first crack at being the lead back in Denver. Booker's per-carry average of 3.6 yards is 27th out of the 29 backs in 2016-17 who had at least 250 carries (Booker had 253). "He's got to come out and work and earn the right to be the (first) guy," Joseph said. "He understands that with C.J. gone, it's a wide open race. He's a good football player, but we want more from him, obviously." denverpost.com

I like Jamal Williams, but Jones feels like the back with more shake to his shimmy. This situation is tough to break down though, and Jones had trouble with nagging injuries last season and had a marijuana charge. I will likely take the guy who comes at more value, as I like both and I think either one could seize the job. UPDATE: Jones has been suspended for the first two games. He still has fantasy value, but Williams and Montgomery get a leg up on him now. There are reports that Booker will share the load with Royce Freeman, but I just haven't seen enough out of Booker to take that news as actionable in these rankings. I believe Freeman gets some leeway and plenty of chances to lead the Broncos on the ground.

Breaking Football
He'll miss the first two games of the year and that could be a death sentence in Green Bay's offense but long-term, he's a steal in later roundsBooker is a solid talent but he has been a bust so far and he has competition. I like him as a late flier but I can't invest early in him
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
If Aaron Jones wins the three-down back job outright, we are looking at a potential top 5 fantasy back. Chances are, however, that this scenario won't play out, despite his talent. The Green Bay staff has made it clear they intend on using a committee involving all three backs. If this is the case when Jones comes back from suspension, he is merely a week to week flex. Jones is still worth drafting based on the upside, though. While it seems that the Broncos drafted Royce Freeman to jump in as the lead-back from Week 1, it is far from certain at this point. Booker is said to have a shot at the job, so keep an eye out and draft him in the meantime as a shot in the dark.

FantasyPros
As of right now, Jones might be the rare case of getting the starting running back in a top-six scoring offense outside of the top-100. Most are torn on which running back to take out of Green Bay, but there've been rumors that Jones earned the job last year. Whatever the case, he's going to score some touchdowns, even if he's involved in a timeshare. I'd rather take the upside of Jones than someone who may have more guaranteed touches, like Bilal Powell.I love Royce Freeman's game, which is why I don't view Booker as a threat to him. With that being said, NFL teams sometimes do some weird things and make rookies "earn their stripes." Booker is someone who played behind C.J. Anderson the last few years, and the Broncos cut Anderson this offseason. Then they drafted Freeman in the third-round. What does that tell you about Booker? He's just a handcuff and not one that you should go out of your way to draft, as we've seen him in a workhorse role before back in 2016. It wasn't pretty.
