The tight end position was horrid for fantasy last season, but Olsen ended up as the second-best fantasy tight end of the season despite a bad year for the Panthers all around. I do expect a better offense for the Panthers next season, which won't be that tough, and Olsen should remain a steady player in a shaky position.Ebron shows plenty of ability, but remains inconsistent. I think he's good enough to become a bigger part of Detroit's offense this year and should be a useful fantasy player.

QB List
Even though Cam Newton was bad last year, Olsen was still good. If you wanted to argue that he's the most reliable tight end of the top five, I'm not sure I'd argue with you. The others may be in better situations, but Olsen stays healthy and produces year after year. Ted Ginn is gone, and so are his 95 targets from last year, which could increase Olsen's value even more, but it's important to remember that he has times when he's not all that good, and the second half of the season last year, he was just barely a top-15 tight end."Eric Ebron's totally gonna break out" said every analyst every year since he was drafted. Look, there's no denying Ebron's athleticism and talent, but he's been inconsistent. You would think that the Lions would try and make their top-10 draft pick an important member of the offense, but that hasn't happened yet. That being said, Anquan Boldin is gone, which increases the opportunity for Ebron.
Kevin Wheeler
NFL Mock
He was AMAZING the first half of the season, but really fell off after their bye week. Ebron's ADP has risen 2-3 rounds, depending on your scoring, in the past two months. Everyone seems to think that Ebron will see more red-zone looks this year with Boldin's 22 RZ targets leaving town. He also has a very safe floor so there's no real downside to drafting him in the eighth round or later. "Ebron left the first practice of training camp Sunday with what Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell said appeared to be a hamstring injury. In three NFL seasons, Ebron has missed eight games with various knee and ankle ailments."
Heath Capps
Fake Teams
Ebron averaged 6.4ppg in 2016 but only appeared in 13 contests. If he had managed 16 games he would have finished as the #10 tight end. Now with Anquan Boldin not stealing all the red-zone looks, Ebron seems like a lock for a Top 10 campaign, with upside for more than that.

Olsen remains a top 5 fantasy tight end but this contract thing is a little troubling.Ebron is a tantalizing physical talent and is "excited" about his 2017 role and with Anquan Boldin gone we may have to pay attention to him.
Corey Parson
RotoExperts
Old Reliable Greg Olsen could see fewer targets this season. The Panthers' offense could be headed in a new direction. Auction Value $12Ebron is looking at a breakout season in 2017. The Lions' tight end should see 100 targets. Auction Value $10
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Last season, Olsen led the Panthers with 129 targets. The now humongous Kelvin Benjamin was second with 118 and the departed Ted Ginn was third with 95. Olsen has virtually no competition so even if he is getting up there in age, he should be considered more reliable than a concussion prone Jordan Reed. The former top 10 NFL pick had 55 yards per game last season which was neck and neck with Jordan Reed who is being selected 70 spots higher despite significant health concerns. The difference between the two is that Ebron only got in the end zone once. That should change this season with Boldin gone. Add that with the fact that Ebron is as consistent as they come and he should be considered one of the top half-dozen tight ends to own.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Call him boring, but he's been a top-four tight end for each of the last three years and hasn't finished outside of the top-eight since 2011. The concern is that he was just the No. 14 tight end from Week 8 through Week 17.Despite missing three games last year, Ebron finished with the eighth-most yards among tight ends. Had he continued on the same pace for all 16 games, he would have only trailed Travis Kelce, Greg Olsen, and Jimmy Graham. With Anquan Boldin gone, it frees up plenty of targets for both him and Marvin Jones in the red-zone. He could be the tight end drafted outside the top-15 who finishes top-five.
Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
Olsen had a "down season" and he was still the second ranked fantasy tight end with 80 receptions for 1,073 yards and 3 touchdowns. If QB Cam Newton rebounds in 2017, Olsen should benefit and have another solid season with more touchdown receptions. Ebron has durability issues and even though he had 61 receptions for 711 yards, he scored only 1 touchdown, despite playing with QB Matthew Stafford. I love his physical ability, but he has yet to put everything together at the NFL level.
