The Fantasy First Down
There's a very good chance Michael Thomas won't repeat as the fantasy WR1 in 2020. In fact the WR1 hasn't repeated since 2014. But is anybody else more likely to top all receivers in 2020? Absolutely not! The reality is that it's really hard to consistently churn out league-winning fantasy performances but Michael Thomas is rightly the consensus WR1. You can safely take him anywhere between 1.03 in PPR and 1.06 in non-PPR without any complaints from me.Big things have been expected of the Eagles since their Super Bowl success and they continue to disappoint. Injuries and a lack of quality have specifically hurt Jake Elliott, as he's a strong and consistent kicker who will take the opportunity if it's given to him.
Elliot Berkovits
Pack to the Future
Behind Davante Adams, you won't find a safer WR than Michael Thomas. He's essentially a lock for 100 receptions and has improved his TD numbers scoring nine in each of the last two seasons. If you're looking to go WR in the first, you can't go wrong with Thomas.Elliott had another stellar season last year and is in position to do it once again in 2020. The Cowboys offense has only gotten better this offseason with the addition of CeeDee Lamb. I don't expect the coaching change to affect Elliott's workload all that much making him the safest player in fantasy behind only McCaffrey
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Tier of his own when comparing to other WRs. He is the alpha and clear #1.Throughout his career, Zeke has averaged 96 rushing yards and 28 receiving yards per game. He also has 48 TDs in 56 games. Consistently great.
Bart Wheeler
Hail to Fantasy Football
There's a clear top-3 group of RBs for me, but after that I'd consider Thomas (especially in full or half PPR formats).
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
You know what the craziest thing about Thomas' 2019 season was? Among the top 40 single-game performances throughout the season, he had just one of them, yet he still finished as the No. 1 fantasy receiver by a massive 67.0 half-PPR points. You can argue that another receiver may finish No. 1, but you can't find a safer receiver atop of drafts. There's only one running back over the last five years who's finished top-six three times, and that's Elliott. Oddly enough, he's never finished as No. 1 though. The Cowboys passing offense just got better with the addition of CeeDee Lamb, and while that may put a cap on Elliott's targets in the passing game, he should be free to rock against seven-man fronts. He saw eight-plus defenders in the box 19.3 percent of the time last year, a number that may dip down into the single digits, provided the Cowboys go three-wide more often than not. Stop trying to find "the next big thing," because Elliott has proven time and time again that he's among the safest picks at the top of the draft. He's posted RB2 or better numbers in 92.9 percent of his career games, which is better than any running back I've ever charted. In fact, the closest is Le'Veon Bell, who's hit that mark 87.0 percent of the time.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Has 70 more catches, 116 more receiving yards than any other player in NFL history thru their first 4 seasonsPerhaps nobody has a higher fantasy floor than EZE, who has the most games of 10+ FAN PTS since 2016 (53, out of a total of 56 games played)
Justin Dodds
Locked In Football
Last season, MT beat the WR2 by 67 fpts and 100 fpts in half PPR and PPR, respectively. Thomas lead over the next best in receptions by 45 and 28 in targets, all while also being without Drew Brees for nearly 6 full games. Expect this dominance to continue in 2020 as the Saints have added only Emmanuel Sanders to the offense, who currently isn't expected to be involved all that much being ECR WR45 in half PPR.Zeke has finished as a top 5 RB in every season that he's played 15 games or more in both standard and PPR formats. Having never missed extended time due to injury in his career, Zeke is about as safe of a pick that you're going to get in the first round of your draft.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Thomas broke Marvin Harrison's single-season reception record with 149 receptions in 2019. He also had 1,725 yards receiving and 9 receiving touchdowns, despite QB Drew Brees missing 5 games. Thomas is the best fantasy receiver in football, especially if Brees returns to New Orleans in 2020.Elliott had 1,777 yards from scrimmage and 14 touchdowns last year. There is always concern that a new coaching staff could change his usage, but given the size of his contract and OC Kellen Moore being retained to call plays, it seems likely he will have similar RB1 value in 2020.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
149/1725/9 . . . while playing with a backup QB for a good chunk of the season. That's all you need to know.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Michael Thomas targets and fantasy ranks last three seasons: 2017: 149 targets - WR5 2018: 147 targets - WR6 2019: 185 targets - WR1Ezekiel Elliott with a coronavirus update: "I would say I had maybe one or two days when I felt symptoms. Even then, it wasn't too bad. I had a cough and a little bit of shortness of breath. Now, I feel good. I feel normal." @jonmachota Zeke is the definition of consistent for fantasy. Last season he was at least an RB2 EVERY SINGLE WEEK. He was an RB1 in 9 of those weeks, with the other 7 weeks being an RB2. @ZtwiceFF
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Michael Thomas just put up the best season for a WR of all time and there's very little reason to doubt that he could put up another dominant performance in 2020. Even when Drew Brees went down, MT was still dominant with Teddy Bridgewater. Thomas is clearly the WR1 in drafts this season and it's not even close. If you want to build your fantasy team around Thomas, you're not going to find any complaints here...Ezekiel Elliott has finished in the top-5 each of the past two seasons and may be one of the safest RBs to draft. As long as he's healthy, he'll see over 300 touches and that's exactly what you want from a top-5 redraft pick. You can draft Zeke with confidence yet again this season.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Averaging 117 receptions over his first 4 years. Not sure how you could rank him below 1 with Brees back.Mike McCarthy's RB usage in the pass game his last 3 years in GB: 2018 - 73 targets(12 games), 2017 - 83 targets, 2016 - 88 targets. That was typically with a 3 headed monster. I would assume Zeke is going to demand the large share of targets. He's averaged 83 over his last 2 seasons so potentially no new value here, unless Kellen Moore does something? Mike could get in trouble if he continues running the ball at the pace he did in GB though. 29th, 27th, and 32nd in the league his last 3 years, not gonna jive with a back that's averaged 292 carries a season since entering the league.
