Sleepers and Busts
The Cowboys offense was decimated by injuries in 2020. However, before Dak got hurt they were rolling. The concerns with Zeke are 1.) He's had off the field issues in the past. There's always a risk he acts like a knucklehead and gets suspended. 2.) If Dak gets injured again the Cowboys offense will struggle. 3.) The Cowboys schedule isn't easy. They play a lot of tough defenses in 2021. Washington's defense in particular is menacing and they have to play them twice-ugh! I think Zeke will do better, but that Dallas schedule doesn't have as many cupcakes as I'd like.2020 was an injured ravaged season for Thomas. There's only one way to go from there and that's up. The loss of Drew Brees will hurt. Thomas set an NFL receptions record with Brees only two years ago. However, to my surprise Thomas did decent with Taysom Hill as his QB. The volume of receptions Thomas gets should keep his floor high, even if the Saints offense as a whole takes a step backward in 2021.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Our perception of Ezekiel Elliott may be a bit skewed after his lackluster performance for fantasy last season. However, we need to remember the full context of the situation and recognize that Zeke was a top-tier fantasy option through the first five weeks of the season. He was the RB3 when Dak Prescott was healthy and on the field and was averaging a healthy 19.9 fantasy points per game. With Dak presumably back and ready to go for Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season, Zeke's a fantastic option again this season to lead your team as a RB1. If you happen to get him at a bit of a discount because of what happened last season, that's just simply icing on the cake. It's going to be very difficult to get past the pain that fantasy managers endured last season with drafting MT. After being drafted as the consensus WR1, Thomas went on to finish with exactly zero receiving touchdowns in the regular season! He obviously missed a lot of time, which certainly affects those numbers, but that stung fantasy players bad last year. Now, Thomas doesn't have Drew Brees to throw him the ball time and time again and we're entering into a bit of unknown territory on how to view Thomas for fantasy football. In my opinion, Thomas should still soak up targets in this offense and he'll bounce back. With that being said, I don't believe that he's going to truly bounce back to consensus WR1 levels. Thomas is the perfect addition to your roster as a low-end WR1/high-end WR2 that should provide a safe floor week after week. However, the days of him soaking up 185 targets may very well be behind us. My Very Early Projection: 100-1177-7 receiving.
Brendan Tuma
FantasyPros
Any statistical projection is going to love "Zeke" entering 2021. We anticipate him receiving the bulk of touches on an offense that should once again play at one of the fastest paces in football. That's a recipe for fantasy success. Of course, lingering in the back of our minds is how slow Elliott seemed to be moving down the stretch last season. Perhaps that was party due to the Dallas offense struggling under Andy Dalton, but it wouldn't be a huge surprise if Zeke finally hit the wall after all these years of heavy workloads. The cliff is coming one of these years, so I'd probably hedge with a younger/more stable option in Round 1 of my drafts this summer. Of course, there's also an argument to be made that fantasy analysts shouldn't overly rely on subjective takes like talent evaluation, which is why Elliott is still getting RB1 treatment from the community.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Follow the production in the first round. There's just one player who's finished as a top-12 running back five times since 2015. That player is Elliott, and as crazy as it sounds, he wasn't even in the league in 2015. "But Mike, Elliott tanked last year to RB11." The entire team sank without Dak Prescott, but in the five games with him, Elliott was the No. 3 running back in fantasy. If he keeps falling until the end of the first round, there will be a lot of championship rosters from that area of drafts. It feels like too many people are dismissing Thomas this year, falling into borderline WR2 territory. Did everyone forget he was the consensus No. 1 wide receiver last year? Sure, Drew Brees is gone, but are we going to pretend that Brees' arm was as strong as it used to be? Now, the next question is whether Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill is under center. If it's Winston, Thomas should be locked-and-loaded as a WR1. If it's Hill, there should be a conversation, but don't forget what Thomas did in the four Hill games last year: 9/104/0, 4/50/0, 9/105/0, and 8/84/0. Those are rock-solid numbers, though the touchdowns were obviously not there. If you get Thomas in the third round of drafts this year, you should feel great about it, especially if Winston is the starter.
Tim Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Take advantage of this one year when Zeke will be available outside of the first few picks. He will bounce back with Dak back under center and be a top-5 fantasy option again.
Bart Wheeler
Hail to Fantasy Football
If Taysom is the QB, I'll lower Thomas slightly. If it's Jameis, I might bump him up a spot or two.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Elliott was very disappointing in 2020, but he also did not have Dak Prescott most of the year and the Cowboys line was decimated by injuries. He also had 197.7 fantasy points, which was still 11th among fantasy running backs. I still think Elliott is in the RB1 mix, although this is a big year for him. He needs to rebound to show he still has what it takes to anchor a fantasy team.I have a hard time ranking Michael Thomas as a WR1 given the injuries he had last year and the retirement of Drew Brees. Thomas will still be a very good player, but he is probably not catching 149 receptions with Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill behind center.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
Was RB3 in PPG with Dak, who now returns. Don't LOVE the player, but love the offense and his role within it.
