Travis Kelce
TE - KC
Expert
Jacob Wayne
Lineups
As the top target in the passing game for Patrick Mahomes, Kelce has a role quite unlike any other tight end. He's finished as a TE1 in 28 of his last 32 games and even when he isn't scoring touchdowns, he's dominating with his target share and YAC ability. Kelce was a constant presence on the field for the Chiefs as he led all tight ends in snap share at 93%. Mahomes should be due for some positive regression in the touchdown department this season and Kelce should score more this season as well. Even if he doesn't, Kelce is one of the safest and most consistent assets in fantasy football.George Kittle is arguably the best player overall on the 49ers and is one of the best offensive players in the NFL. While his blocking is incredibly noteworthy, it's his elite downfield receiving that allowed him to finish as the #2 tight end in fantasy last year. It still feels like there's another level for Kittle to reach in his fantasy production and there's a decent chance he finishes as the TE1 this year.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Kelce is the most complete TE in football and coasted to a TE1 finish in 2019. KC has a lot of weapons, but he's too big and effective to not score more in 2020.Kittle will be a fun guy to won early in the year, as San Francisco is hurting at receiver. Nobody is really pushing for the #2 spot, so it's Kelce or Kittle if you're going TE early.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
Kelce has been remarkably consistent in recent seasons, though he did slide backward in the scoring department after posting a career-high 10 touchdowns in 2018. Given the uncertainty and relative lack of depth at the tight end position heading into 2020, a case could be made for selecting Kelce as early as the second round in fantasy drafts this summer. After having averaged fewer than 27 yards per game over his first 12 outings as a rookie in 2017, Kittle averaged more than 64 yards per game over the 49ers' final three contests. All he did in 2018 was set a single-season record for receiving yards by a tight end, and he followed it up with a 2019 in which he averaged more than six catches per game for the first time in his career.
Kevin Tompkins
Fighting Chance Fantasy
When you're deciding between Kelce and George Kittle as your TE1, you have to factor in the consistency of Kelce, with four straight 1000-yard seasons as well as the ball distributor, some guy named Patrick Mahomes. Those two factors solidify my case for Kelce over Kittle as the TE1 in fantasy for 2020.Kittle has a great chance to be TE1 this year with the attrition we've seen among the Niners' receiving options. It'll take some touchdown regression for him to get on that perch, but it's certainly attainable. He's a rising young star at the position and slam-dunk 2nd rounder. I'd even take him in the 1st depending on how draft boards shake out.
John Hesterman
Dynasty League Football
You tell Kittle he's not a top-two tight end this season. I dare you. The closer we get to the season the more receivers are injured or questionable to be ready by week one. Kittle will be heavily targeted and this could be the season he de-thrones Travis Kelce for the overall TE1.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Travis Kelce remains the pinnacle for tight ends in fantasy football. With four consecutive 1000+ yard seasons under his belt and as a key cog in the league's best offense, he's as safe as they come. His floor is WR1-quality, he's missed one game in the last six seasons and he gets an extraordinary amount of red zone targets. As an added bonus, last season's TE1 is due some TD regression and did much of his work last year without Patrick Mahomes. Every player comes with some risk but Kelce is as safe as they come and should be locked in as the TE1. The real question is where you take him. He's usually going in the middle of the second round and while that's a touch too early for me, I couldn't blame you for wanting to lock up one of the shallowest positions with a total stud.George Kittle is a sensational tight end and stands head and shoulder above the pack in a tier he shares with Travis Kelce. I believe that Kelce's floor, ceiling and history make him the better bet but Kittle is still a special talent who should remain his team's locked-in number one target. The run-first nature of the 49ers is a concern, but even a small drop in their defense will mean more good things for Kittle and he's due some TD regression given his Kelce-esque red zone target numbers. While I'll still take the guy with Patrick Mahomes throwing him the ball, Kittle is an excellent backup option to take at the back end of the second round.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It's now been four straight seasons where Kelce has finished with 1,000-plus yards. He's as safe as they come and should still be in the prime of his career at 30 years old. Patrick Mahomes took a step back in terms of touchdown percentage in 2019, but could very well bounce back to elite levels in 2020, giving Kelce consideration as a second-round pick in fantasy drafts. If you have "your guys" in the middle rounds, Kelce makes sense as an early-round pick. He's now posted TE1-type numbers in 28-of-32 games over the last two years. It also helps when you see 41.4 percent of your team's targets inside the 10-yard line, like Kelce did in 2019.He's just 26 years old and coming off 2,430 yards and 10 touchdowns over the previous two seasons despite missing two full games. Keep in mind that he was playing through injuries much of last season. The defense is surely going to take a slight step back in 2020, which will lead to more pass attempts, which will lead to more targets. The 49ers added Brandon Aiyuk who'll help stretch the field, which should in turn just open things a bit more for Kittle. His arrow continues to point up. The touchdowns may not match those of Travis Kelce, but we know not to rely on consistency in that department.
Frank Bonincontri
Fantasy Wire HQ
Defending the crown means getting every teams best shot, feel just as confident in Kelce as i did last seasonExpecting Kittle to be the chain mover and an uptick in targets with unproven receivers
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
Kelce remains the top TE in fantasy until someone supplants himWith Samuel and Hurd going down, Kittle could produce a historic campaign. He's worth the pick at ADP in most home leagues

Kelce has been the elite of the elite for TE's over the last handful of years and while I don't expect his play to drop off too much, he is starting to get up there in age which is why I have him at 2nd overall. George Kittle is just entering his prime while Kelce's is nearing the back-end of his prime. I like both but Kittle just a bit more. With Kittle just entering his prime, I think he's officially taken the reigns from Travis Kelce as the best TE in the league. Last year in only 14 games, Kittle totaled 85 receptions, 1,053 yards, and five TDs. Now he has his new contract and should be plenty motivated to prove he was worthy of that mega-deal.

What can you say about Kelce? He became the first tight end ever to put up four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons last year. He's finished as the top tight end in fantasy in three of the last four years (and fell half a point shy of Rob Gronkowski in the other), and is always among the leaders in targets, receptions, and yards at the position. An elite player in an elite offense with an elite quarterback. Don't overthink it.Kittle missed two games last year, but had a truly incredible season for a tight end. He led all tight ends and wide receivers in yards after the catch and missed tackles forced, and led the league in yards per route run. And he's entering his age-27 season with largely the same personnel and in the same scheme. The only thing keeping Kittle from being the first tight end drafted is Travis Kelce's equally rosy outlook. But Kittle is the slam dunk second tight end who should be selected and a worthy second-round pick.

Has finished as No. 1 TE in FAN PTS 4 straight seasons, is tied to perhaps the NFL's top offense and has shown no signs of slowing downPlayed TE Kelce even in FAN PPG (12.9) in 2019 despite battling thru injuries - in prime age 26/27 season, with WR Samuel out to open 2020, has good shot to best Kelce

The Draft Zone
Travis Kelce converted just 2 of 12 targets inside the 10-yard line into TDs last year -- 17%. From 2016-2018, he converted 9 of 22 targets inside the 10 into scores -- 41%. @SmolaDSGeorge Kittle ran 213 fewer pass routes than Travis Kelce last season and 205 fewer than Zach Ertz. That usage edge is why Kelce>Kittle, but one of these years Kittle is going to find the end zone. @LordReebs

Kelce has finished as the TE2 or better the last four seasons. Yes, you read that correctly. Even without Patrick Mahomes at QB, Kelce's been getting the job done for fantasy football and there's very little reason to doubt that he's going to finish as a top-2 option again this season. If you don't want to play the late-round TE guessing game, Kelce's an extremely smart selection at his current ADP.It's hard to go wrong with either Kelce or Kittle in your draft. Kelce's tied to a more dynamic offense, but Kittle could see regression to the means in terms of his touchdown production. The past two seasons, Kittle has finished with over 1,000 receiving yards, but never finished with more than 5 receiving TDs either year. There's reason to be optimistic that that number should come up towards the league average, which would make Kittle a steal where he's currently going in drafts. If you don't want to play the late-round TE guessing game, Kittle's an extremely safe option.

Kelce is still the best fantasy tight end in the league playing on an explosive Chiefs offense. He finished the 2019 season with 1,233 yards from scrimmage and 6 touchdowns.Kittle was the All-Pro tight end over Kelce, but that was due to his ability as a blocker. Gittle is a great fantasy tight end with 1,075 and 5 receiving touchdowns, but he is just a step below Kelce.
