FantasyPros
There's no bigger disparity in the NFL right now between upside and ADP than Hurst. Hurst is currently going outside the top-12 tight ends, but has a very good chance and path to finishing as a top-5 option at the end of the season. Hurst is a talented tight end who is finally going to be given an opportunity in Atlanta's dynamic offense. He's a home-run pick in the late rounds of your draft.Unfortunately, the opportunity doesn't exactly match the talent for Irv Smith...at least for right now. Rudolph is still ahead of him on this depth chart and this isn't an offense that's projected to have a high passing volume. Smith's unlikely to have any fantasy relevance in 2020, unless Rudolph were to miss time. He can remain on your waiver wire for the time being.

Hail to Fantasy Football
All the way up to my top-12. Matt Ryan throws to the tight end position. If Hurst can stay healthy, he could be a sneaky top-5 TE.

Former first round pick, missed opportunity in Baltimore, MAJOR upside in Atlanta. Hurst had 62 targets total in 2 years while playing for Baltimore, 43 catches, 512 yards, and 3 Touchdowns. Austin Hooper last year had 97 targets, 75 catches 787 yards and 6 touchdowns. The targets and opportunity are their in Atlanta for Hurst to crush. @NickSarnelli2019: Played 53.4% of snaps in the slot, 76.6% Catch Rate, 107.7 QBR, target share: 7.6/ 20.5% Irv Smith Jr. had 47 targets in 2019 as a 21-year-old rookie. The Vikings are likely to pass more next year and lack proven receiving weapons. TEs who were 21-year-old rookies record a TE1 season almost 60% of the time in Year 2. @JackMiller02

FantasyPros
Hurst was a 1st round pick for the Ravens just three seasons ago but has been overshadowed by Mark Andrews. Apparently, the Falcons thought quite a bit about his upside as well, sacrificing a second-round pick for the tight end. We know Matt Ryan loved throwing to Austin Hooper and now with him, Devonta Freeman and Mohamed Sanu all gone, there are 200+ targets up for grabs. Hurst should see nearly 100 which could make him a TE1 by season's end.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Smith played a fair amount in his rookie season, but he's still second fiddle to Kyle Rudolph. Although the two tight ends essentially split targets last year, Smith was used fairly closer to the line of scrimmage and almost never had a chance to break big plays. He may see a bit more usage now with plenty of vacated targets in the absence of Stefon Diggs, but he's nothing better than a low-end TE2.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Opportunity means everything to a tight end and Hurst is going to walk into plenty of it. The Falcons have used their tight end quite heavily over the last couple years and they really didn't replace Mohamed Sanu. Instead of trying to re-sign Austin Hooper, they decided it'd be better to trade a second-round pick for Hurst, showing just how much they valued him. Don't think he's not talented just because he played behind Mark Andrews. He should see 80-plus targets in 2020 en route to a top-12 finish.I'm not certain how many people know Smith saw just one fewer target than his teammate Kyle Rudolph in 2019, but that was the case. The difference was their touchdowns, as Rudolph scored six times compared to Smith's two touchdowns. Will that change in 2020? Well, it wasn't due to lack of opportunity, as Smith saw 10 targets in the red zone compared to Rudolph's 11 targets. Touchdowns are a very fickle thing and they can flip-flop this year. Smith is the one ascending up, while Rudolph is moving towards the end of his tenure.

Crossroads Fantasy Football
ATL just traded a 2nd round pick for Hurst, knowing that he's been a poor blocker his first 2 years in the league. Below AVG on 389 RUNBLKs, and just 8 PASSBLKs to his name. His poor blocking is good news for how it appears they might plan on using him. Hooper was rarely blocking, and was in for twice the amount of pass snaps as Hurst last year.Is anyone going to look and see that Kyle Rudolph only out targeted Irv by 1 target despite playing 181 more snaps? Rudolph's playing time also slowly decreased over the course of the season.
