Hail to Fantasy Football
He cracks my top-100 players and I think if he can stay healthy he's a lock for a top-10 finish at the TE position.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It seems like years since Howard has been a force to reckon with in fantasy football, but prior to the 2019 season that was ended with injuries, he'd posted 935 or more rushing yards in each of the previous three seasons. The issue with projecting that moving forward is due to his offensive line play. The Dolphins have what may be the worst line in football, while Howard has only run behind top-10 offensive lines while in Chicago and Philadelphia. Still, if you need a running back who's likely locked into 12-plus touches a week, Howard can fill a role on your fantasy team.Opportunity means everything to a tight end and Hurst is going to walk into plenty of it. The Falcons have used their tight end quite heavily over the last couple years and they really didn't replace Mohamed Sanu. Instead of trying to re-sign Austin Hooper, they decided it'd be better to trade a second-round pick for Hurst, showing just how much they valued him. Don't think he's not talented just because he played behind Mark Andrews. He should see 80-plus targets in 2020 en route to a top-12 finish.
Elliot Berkovits
Pack to the Future
After one season with the Eagles, Howard now finds himself in Miami in what could be a resurgent offense under Tua Tagovailoa. He will split carries with Matt Breida but I expect Howard to get the majority of the goal-line work. He's a much better option in non-PPR.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Howard should be the lead back in a crowded RBBC in Miami this year, which would give him flex value with upside if they can improve the offensive line.Hurst has never had more than 349 yards receiving or 2 touchdowns in a season, but this is his chance to breakout as a starting tight end playing with Matt Ryan. He is a TE2 with TE1 upside due to his great quarterback situation.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Howard is perpetually undervalued in fantasy football, in part because of his lack of success as a receiver. But over his four-year career, he's totaled 3,895 yards rushing, 30 touchdowns, and a 4.3 YPC average. Those numbers are more than adequate for fantasy purposes, especially considering Howard should get the bulk of the work for the Dolphins. While Matt Breida should siphon off some carries, Howard will likely be the primary ball carrier and the goal-line option, making him a Flex option in standard leagues.Hurst rarely played even half the snaps with Baltimore, but he was sixth in yards per target last year and was PFF's eighth-highest graded tight end. Dirk Koetter's offense likes to target the tight end, as Austin Hooper saw 60 targets through eight games last year and Tony Gonzalez saw 118 targets per season under Koetter. Add in that Hurst is likely to run routes out of the slot this year and Hurst's first year with the Falcons should be a big one.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
After being drafted out of Indiana in the 5th round a few years ago, Jordan Howard has regularly surpassed expectations. He was sensational for the Bears in his debut season before dropping away along with the team's attack as a whole. A move to Philly proved he still had it as he held off Miles Sanders with superior play until injury crueled his season. Now in Miami's RB-wasteland and he's got a chance to do it all again. The message is clear, under-estimate Howard at your peril. With around 400 RB touches to go around, I expect Howard to lead the backfield with Breida taking the change-of-pace/receiving role. Take Howard in the late 8th round if you need a safe option but realise the upside is limited this time. The Falcons offence remains a passing juggernaut with Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Austin Hooper, the slot receivers and the running backs all on pace for 100+ targets in 2019. While Austin Hooper, Mo Sanu and Devonta Freeman are gone, Hayden Hurst, Russell Gage and Todd Gurley arrive in their place. It's fair to suggest more from Gurley compared to last season's backfield mess and a breakout from Calvin Ridley is entirely likely, but Russell Gage isn't a top receiver and that leaves a massive pile of targets for the tight ends. While that's no guarantee, it's hard to see how Hayden Hurst could not finish as a top 12 tight end. That makes it even more incredible that he's available in the double digit rounds. Hurst is an absolute steal and one of fantasy's biggest sleepers at this stage of the pre-season.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Howard will get the opportunity to be a starting RB again in 2020 in Miami. He's the clear option for goal line carries and this offensive line is drastically improved from 2019. Howard should be a solid RB2 option all season long in this offense. There's no bigger disparity in the NFL right now between upside and ADP than Hurst. Hurst is currently going outside the top-12 tight ends, but has a very good chance and path to finishing as a top-5 option at the end of the season. Hurst is a talented tight end who is finally going to be given an opportunity in Atlanta's dynamic offense. He's a home-run pick in the late rounds of your draft.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Expect Howard to be the top choice for the Dolphins' goal line work this season.Former first round pick, missed opportunity in Baltimore, MAJOR upside in Atlanta. Hurst had 62 targets total in 2 years while playing for Baltimore, 43 catches, 512 yards, and 3 Touchdowns. Austin Hooper last year had 97 targets, 75 catches 787 yards and 6 touchdowns. The targets and opportunity are their in Atlanta for Hurst to crush. @NickSarnelli
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
I learned my lesson last year! Howard will be more involved than I like! Still likely to receive 150ish carries with a rookie drafted, whether we like it or not. Was pacing for 190 in Philly last year. The good news is he's an absolute dunce when it comes to pass catching and Miami targeted the RB a sneaky amount(99). It was just spread out through Drake, who left, and the Walton and LA(i)RDS of the world 150 attempts at a 4ypc clip with a handful of TDs would put him at 90 fantasy points. Your standard RB40 on the yearATL just traded a 2nd round pick for Hurst, knowing that he's been a poor blocker his first 2 years in the league. Below AVG on 389 RUNBLKs, and just 8 PASSBLKs to his name. His poor blocking is good news for how it appears they might plan on using him. Hooper was rarely blocking, and was in for twice the amount of pass snaps as Hurst last year.
