Breaking Football
Higbee was a sensation down the stretch last year, and finished as the TE8 in a year where he wasn't even the starter to begin the year. Now a focal point of the Rams' offense, he's a top-10 threat again.Austin Hooper was the TE6 for ATL last year. Hurst is the better athlete and should have that role, which instantly puts him in the top-10 conversation.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
After failing to surpass five receptions or reach 50 receiving yards in any of the 10 games he played prior to the end of November last season, Higbee exploded for 43 receptions over a five-game stretch last December that began with four straight 100-yard games from Week 13 to 16. Expect him to start 2020 with a prominent role in the Rams' passing game.Acquired by Atlanta to fill the void created by Austin Hooper's departure, Hurst could emerge as a fantasy asset on a team devoid of passing-game weapons beyond WRs Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.
Bart Wheeler
Hail to Fantasy Football
He has a great shot at a top-5 finish in this Atlanta offense. If you want him, you'll have to pick him among the first ten TEs.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Tyler Higbee is the definition of an upside pick. The Rams have clearly decided to move towards using their tight ends as receivers and all the signs (Cooks leaving, massive TE contracts) point to a lot of 12 plays in 2020. There have been question marks over whether Higbee is the guy or whether the Rams might use a lot more of Everett. That's a fair concern but I think their actions show they believe in Higbee. They've given him an enormous contract while Everett hasn't been re-signed and the Rams also drafted Brycen Hopkins as a possible TE2 replacement. I'm going to follow the money and gamble on Higbee continuing his target-heavy role alongside Woods and Kupp now that the Rams lack a true receiving back. Higbee is super value in the 7th round. The Falcons offense remains a passing juggernaut with Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Austin Hooper, the slot receivers and the running backs all on pace for 100+ targets in 2019. While Austin Hooper, Mo Sanu and Devonta Freeman are gone, Hayden Hurst, Russell Gage and Todd Gurley arrive in their place. It's fair to suggest more from Gurley compared to last season's backfield mess and a breakout from Calvin Ridley is entirely likely, but Russell Gage isn't a top receiver and that leaves a massive pile of targets for the tight ends. While that's no guarantee, it's hard to see how Hayden Hurst could not finish as a top 12 tight end. That makes it even more incredible that he's available in the double digit rounds. Hurst is an absolute steal and one of fantasy's biggest sleepers at this stage of the pre-season.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
While it's easy to fall in love with the way Higbee ended the season, we mustn't forget that it's a very small sample size. He finished with 522 yards and two touchdowns over the final five games while seeing a massive 56 targets. He and Gerald Everett COMBINED for 85 targets the entire 2018 season. Injuries certainly helped Higbee get more targets as the year went on, but are we certain it'll continue in 2020? If you don't have to spend a pick in the top five or six rounds to get him, it's worth finding out. When projecting Matt Ryan for somewhere in the neighborhood of 620-plus pass attempts, you need to disburse them somewhere. The Falcons didn't even make an offer to Austin Hooper but decided to spend a second-round pick to acquire Hurst from the Ravens. It's clear they view him as someone who can step right into Hooper's role. It may take some time for Hurst to get acclimated to the new offense with a shortened offseason, but Hooper's role was massive last year. He totaled 97 targets in just 13 games, which was a pace of 119 targets on a full 16-game season. Did you know that of the 116 tight ends who've seen more than 85 targets the last 10 years, that 97 of them finished as top-12 tight ends? That's an 83.6 percent success rate and it seems highly likely that Hurst is going to hit that. Move that number up to 90 targets and it's a 92.4 percent success rate. One of my bold predictions this year is that Hurst finishes as a top-five fantasy tight end. Don't think he was bad because he was playing behind Mark Andrews, one of the best tight ends in the league.
Frank Bonincontri
Fantasy Wire HQ
The offseason Twitter hype (or hate) is real but will Higbee deliver or bust? I expect him to pick up off from where he did last seasonWill Hurst step in and become the 2019 Austin Hooper? No, but he will take on a solid target share and will likely be the sleeper of the fantasy TE position group. Just because he was not featured exclusively in BAltimore doesnt mean he is a sub-par tight end
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
My favorite mid round TE target, but cost has approached concerning levelsUnder the radar TE that can be taken for little cost in most home leagues. Top target for those waiting at TE
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Tyler Higbee is going to be a very interesting player to watch at the TE position this year. Over his final five games last season, Higbee averaged over 8 receptions a game and over 104 yards receiving per game. While I don't expect to see anything close to that over a 16 game stretch, there's no doubt that Higbee put himself on the map and could be this year's Mark Andrews.Hurst is one of my favorite TE sleepers for the 2020 season. He's a former 1st-round pick which means he definitely has the talent, he just never had the opportunity in Baltimore. That will change in Atlanta where throughout Matt Ryan's career, the TE position has done very well. Whether it be Tony Gonzalez or Austin Hooper, if you're a talented TE, Ryan is going to target you. If you punt on TE, Hurst is a great late-round option.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Higbee had one of the most unexpected and dominant short-term breakouts in recent memory last season. Over the final five games, he averaged 8.6 receptions and 104 yard per contest after being essentially a fantasy afterthought for his entire career prior. There are questions about heading into the season, including whether the Rams will continue running more of the 12 personnel they ran late in the year and the impact of a healthy Gerald Everett. But, there just aren't many tight ends who are even capable of doing what Higbee did at the end of last year, meaning he needs to be viewed as a mid-tier TE1, albeit with a bit of a skeptical eye.Hurst rarely played even half the snaps with Baltimore, but he was sixth in yards per target last year and was PFF's eighth-highest graded tight end. Dirk Koetter's offense likes to target the tight end, as Austin Hooper saw 60 targets through eight games last year and Tony Gonzalez saw 118 targets per season under Koetter. Add in that Hurst is likely to run routes out of the slot this year and Hurst's first year with the Falcons should be a big one.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Higbee emerged as the featured tight end in this offense with 734 yards from scrimmage and 3 touchdowns. QB Jared Goff makes Higbee's value volatile, but he should be a fantasy TE1 in 2020.Hurst has never had more than 349 yards receiving or 2 touchdowns in a season, but this is his chance to breakout as a starting tight end playing with Matt Ryan. He is a TE2 with TE1 upside due to his great quarterback situation.

Higbee had the best receiving stretch of any TE ever over the last 5 weeks of 2019. THE BEST EVER. That does not happen by accident. The Rams started using 12 personnel more at the back end of the season and Higbee was one of two players (Woods) to play nearly every snap. Let others laugh at the Higbee pick while you reap the benefits.

Higbee was a fantastic waiver wire find at the end of last season and he asserted himself into the conversation as one of fantasy football's top tight ends. However, the majority is still skeptical of the limited sample size and that's reflected in his ADP. If you prefer to wait on tight end, Higbee's a great option to add to your roster. This offense should remain heavy in 12 personnel and this should still be a heavy passing volume team. Everything lines up for Higbee to have a great season again in 2020.There's no bigger disparity in the NFL right now between upside and ADP than Hurst. Hurst is currently going outside the top-12 tight ends, but has a very good chance and path to finishing as a top-5 option at the end of the season. Hurst is a talented tight end who is finally going to be given an opportunity in Atlanta's dynamic offense. He's a home-run pick in the late rounds of your draft.

Higbee had what could be the best 5 game stretch any TE has ever had to end 2019, which is why just about everyone has him in their top 10 TE's. He definitely benefited from injured teammates and from facing Arizona in two of those games. I expect the Rams to use more two-TE sets, but let's not expect him to see 11+ targets per game. He also failed to achieve 50 yards in 56 of his first 58 games.Former first round pick, missed opportunity in Baltimore, MAJOR upside in Atlanta. Hurst had 62 targets total in 2 years while playing for Baltimore, 43 catches, 512 yards, and 3 Touchdowns. Austin Hooper last year had 97 targets, 75 catches 787 yards and 6 touchdowns. The targets and opportunity are their in Atlanta for Hurst to crush. @NickSarnelli

156 targets went to the TE position this year. In McVays first 2 seasons: 2017 - 88, 2018 - 84ATL just traded a 2nd round pick for Hurst, knowing that he's been a poor blocker his first 2 years in the league. Below AVG on 389 RUNBLKs, and just 8 PASSBLKs to his name. His poor blocking is good news for how it appears they might plan on using him. Hooper was rarely blocking, and was in for twice the amount of pass snaps as Hurst last year.

Went completely berserk as the top-scoring TE for the final six games of 2019, when Gerald Everett was shelved for all but 2. Higbee topped 11+ targets and 100+ yards 5/6. He'd ascend to the Kelce Kittle tier if that volume remained consistent in 2020, but that's a question w/ Everett fully back and such a limited role until these final 6.Koetter = Perfect scheme for Hurst to rebound and escape Andrews' shadow. No one uses the TE better than ATL w/ Koetter there.
