FantasyPros
When Conner wore down at the end of the 2018 season, did the Steelers get a bit worried? They reached for Benny Snell in the fourth-round, highlighting they clearly felt running back depth was a need. With Antonio Brown and Jesse James gone, there are over 200 targets that have vacated the team, so it's possible Conner can build upon his strong 2018 season. The slight risk of a timeshare knocks him down into the second round, though he's got top-six upsideThere are real questions surrounding Gurley as we enter the 2019 season. Not only did C.J. Anderson play over him during the playoffs, but the Rams also traded up to the start of the third-round to select Darrell Henderson, an explosive running back out of Memphis. The Rams also matched an offer sheet the Lions submitted to backup running back Malcolm Brown, meaning the Rams are more worried about Gurley than they're letting on. We all know Gurley comes with plenty of upside, but we also know you can't win your fantasy league in the first-round, but you can definitely help lose it.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
The Steelers may not demand Conner to carry the full load, but he's still the main guy where it matters. He's worthy of a 1st rounder and has the upside to be the top back in fantasy if things break just right.Gurley slides in my rankings due to health, last year's slide and the arrival of talent at his position. H e just may end up being a massive steal in round two (or 3!), but the risk this early is quite clear.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Conner emerged as one of the all-time great draft-day bargains last season after he took over as the Steelers' starting running back once Le'Veon Bell failed to report to the team. He did wonders with the featured role, averaging nearly 21 touches and a touchdown per game in his 13 starts. Although the Steelers offense may not be quite as explosive without Antonio Brown, Conner's ability to succeed as an RB1 is not in doubt. What is in doubt is his workload, as there are rumblings that Jaylen Samuels and/or Benny Snell could significantly cut into Conner's carries. Still, running backs with Conner's fantasy potential are few and far between, and he should still be drafted as an RB1, unless rumors of a significant decrease in workload grow stronger.Gurley was having one of the more dominant running back seasons in recent memory before injuring his knee late in the year. His playoff performance only added to fantasy owners' concerns, and the Rams' drafting of Darrell Henderson cemented those worries. His knee issues are reportedly the result of some sort of arthritis, which is obviously concerning. But even with a decreased workload, Gurley's spot as the lead back in an explosive offense makes him a borderline RB1, albeit not one without risk.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Was No. 8 RB in half-PPR PPG and even though I think he'll lose a few more touches to backup J. Samuels this time around, there'll likely be a few more touches to share with WR A. Brown goneNo. 1 RB in '18 falls down the '19 draft list because of an arthritic knee that is expected to bring about a reduced-workload maintenance plan by the Rams - definition of a high risk/reward pick
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
In 2018 Conner had 13 total TDs, 55 receptions, nearly 1,000 rushing yards, and nearly 500 receiving yards, 22 carries+targets per games - and 34% of his carries came against 8+ in the box. @JeffHaseley

Conner will be a workhorse this season. A Steelers workhorse is someone you want. Please don't overthink this.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Despite missing 3 games last season, Conner ended with 973/12 rushing and 55/497/1 receiving. The Pittsburgh Steelers RB is THE perennial RB you want to own. Don't buy into the Samuels/Snell noise. Even Rashard Mendenhall had back to back years with over 1350 total scrimmage yards and at least 8 TDs. Conner is much better.

The Action Network

Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Through 10 games last year, Conner was a top-tier fantasy back before slowing down and suffering an injury toward the end of the year. He still has that type of potential, of course, with this Steelers offense but there are talks of the workload being split with Jaylen Samuels or Benny Snell which should keep Conner out of the first round of your fantasy drafts.Gurley most certainly slowed down at the end of the year and comes with risk because of the unknown surrounding his knee. With that said, he was so exceptional each of the last two years that even with a 25% drop in production, he would still be an easy top 10 back. He still has more upside than any back including this year's big four so don't hesitate to snag him in the back end of the first round if you are feeling lucky.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Conner should be the lead back in Pittsburgh in 2019 and as long as he can stay healthy, he should have RB1 value behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.I never want to hear that my RB1 is managing his arthritic component in his knee and his usage in the postseason last year screamed that knee had some issues. He is still a RB1 in a great scheme, but I think the days of him being the best fantasy running back in the NFL are over, as the Rams will need to manage his touches for him to stay healthy.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
Conner undoubtedly has the talent to be the workhorse back in Pittsburgh, but seems destined to have Jaylen Samuels and Benny Snell eat into the workload. There's still going to be plenty of work going Conner's way and he should be a steady fantasy contributor week in and week out.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Conner averaged 19.6 half PPR points per game last season. It's worth noting that he averaged 23.5 points per game over his first 8 weeks, then just 12.8 points per game over his final 5. He also had 5 100+ yard rushing performances in those first 8 weeks, then exactly zero games over 65 rushing yards over the last 5 weeks. Part of this was likely due to injuries, but part is also the varience of TD's. He scored 10 TD's over those first 8 weeks, then 3 over his final 5. The 13 total TD's in 13 games is going to regress, and he's now likely to see less of an opportunity share with the emergence of Jaylen Samuels. Furthermore, the offense as a whole is likely to regress in the post AB era. They were 4th in both plays per game and TD's per game last season, both of which are likely to drop this season. Conner isn't a bad pick, there are just so many other good picksUnfortunately, I will not have any shares of Todd Gurley this season. It's not that he can't have a good year, it's just that it's not worth the risk. With Darrell Henderson drafted to fill the Alvin Kamara role, his upside is capped. We know he's never again going to see the same sort of volume he has over the past few seasons, so even being in this prolific offense might not be able to save him. There is absolutely a chance that Gurley pays off his ADP and carries your team to the championship. However, it's unlikely, and just not worth the gamble. Unless he falls to the third round I can't justify drafting him.
