Pack to the Future
Many people consider 2019 to be a bad season for Conner but before getting hurt, he was averaging over 14 points per game. Now, Ben Roethlisberger is slated to return and the Steelers offense of old could be coming back together. Getting a piece of that in the 3rd-4th round is terrific value.Hilton, along with the entire Colts offense, will be one of the most interesting storylines to watch as the season progresses. With Philip Rivers now at QB, Hilton could have his best season since Andrew Luck's prime. That being said, Rivers is another year older and if he doesn't have the arm to get Hilton the ball, it could be problematic. I like Hilton's upside but his floor is frighteningly low.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
If Conner were able to stay on the field, he'd be considered as a top-10 running back in fantasy. Unfortunately, he hasn't done that, and it's led them to draft Jaylen Samuels, Benny Snell, and now Anthony McFarland. While none of them are better than Conner, it's likely we see them take some of the workload away from him in 2020.He's entering the final year of his contract with the Colts and is likely to lead them in targets. Some may be concerned about last year, but Jacoby Brissett wasn't the guy to get him the ball. Philip Rivers, on the other hand, he can sling it. Going back to Hilton with Andrew Luck in the Frank Reich offense, he finished with WR2-type numbers in 64.3 percent of his games. The addition of Michael Pittman and Jonathan Taylor may bring down his touchdown upside, but he should remain a consistent WR3, at worst.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
If Conner stays healthy this year, he's almost certainly going to be a draft-day bargain. Through Week 7, before his season was derailed by injury, he was on pace for more than 1400 total yards and 14 touchdowns. Mike Tomlin has come out and essentially stated that Conner is going to be a workhorse back, and he may get even more work in the receiving game if Ben Roethlisberger doesn't push it downfield as much as he used to after elbow surgery. In other words, it's just health with Conner. If he has it, he should be no worse than an extremely strong RB2 in half- or full-PPR leagues. With Andrew Luck as his quarterback, Hilton has averaged nearly 80 yards per game and topped 100 yards receiving 34% of the time. Without Luck, Hilton has averaged just over 58 yards per game, and topped 100 yards receiving just 14% of the time. Philip Rivers is an upgrade over Jacoby Brissett, so Hilton's numbers should look closer to the ones he put up with Luck, rather than those without him. But given Rivers' decline last season, it's still better to think of Hilton as only a borderline WR2 at best.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
7th among RBs in FAN PPG over past 2 seasons (better than Cook, Henry, Mixon, to name a few), but in a prove-it season health wise - figure he's playing for his future in PIT
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
People are quick to write Conner off, but injuries are the only difference from this season to last where he was being drafted as a first-round pick. In fact, Big-Ben is back, so Conner should have more running lanes than he did last season when he excelled. From weeks 1-8 last season, Conner saw almost 18 touches per game, was sixth among RBs in fantasy points per snap, and forced the second-most missed tackles on receptions. He's also played at least 10 games every year of his career and is an RB1 whenever he's on the field. He's easily worth the third round pick.Hilton was 34th in PPG last season and his TTV (Brotofantasy.com) was 36th, so he did what was expected and slightly more. Rivers is a QB upgrade, Hilton should probably see a few more targets, and he's received praise from the coaching staff. Hilton isn't washed yet.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Conner's a dicey pick, but that seems to be built into his ADP right now. If everything goes his way this season, Conner will drastically outperform where he's being drafted right now. However, we just simply don't know at this point whether or not he's going to remain healthy for all 16 games. In fact, I might bet against that happening.Hilton's an incredibly risky pick at his ADP right now. He needs to stay healthy this season to return that value and he now has Michael Pittman to take away targets. Rivers could lock onto Pittman, which is the type of receiver he's been known to target heavily in the past, which would leave a smaller target percentage for Hilton. He has the talent, but a lot has to go Hilton's way this season for him to be a true force for fantasy football. In my opinion, Hilton's nothing more than a low-end WR3.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
What an awful season 2019 proved to be for those who draft James Conner in the first round of drafts. Big Ben was injured, the offence fell apart, Conner's body fell apart and other backs like Benny Snell, Jaylen Samuels and even Kerrith Whyte (who oddly didn't look too bad) swarmed in. With Ben back, Conner ripped like a flying squirrel and another RB in 4th rounder Anthony McFarland in the mix, 2020 has turned into a real crap shoot. With a 4th round price tag though, Conner might just be worth the risk as an upside gamble returning to a good offence where he should be the lead back. After a super 2018 season where he returned to top form, T.Y. Hilton had an awful 2019. The retirement of Andrew Luck was followed by a number of frustrating injuries which made consistent production impossible. Now 30 and carrying a number of soft-tissue injuries into the season, it's hard to see Hilton remaining fit and explosive again. He's also joined by impressive youngsters Parris Campbell and Michael Pittman while the team is clearly becoming more run-heavy. The good news is that Philip Rivers is a big QB upgrade and Hilton has a huge ceiling, especially in non-PPR. He's a boom/bust 5th-round pick who could be worth a pick-up if you have the top-end strength to cover for his many bad weeks and injuries.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
A WR room with everything you could want. Hilton going deep, Campbell the YAC machine, and the big, reliable Pittman. While Hilton should lead the trio, he was also be battling his own ability to stay on the field. Maybe it's assuming too much, but IND just came off a season with the 3rd fewest passing yards in the league, with 3108. Phil has thrown fewer than 4000 only 3 times in his 14 years as a starter, he was over 4000 3 times with fewer attempts than what IND attempted last year because IND efficiency as so bad. We don't have to see the team transform into a passing team to see better production from all the WRs. I'm grabbing Campbell late everywhere I can.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Conner went from 1,470 yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns in 2018 to 715 yards from scrimmage and 7 touchdowns in 2019. The big issue for me is durability, Conner has RB1 talent, but missed 3 games in 2018 and 6 games last year. He has a lot of upside due to his ability, but a lot of downside due to his durability.Hilton's age 30 season was not kind to him, he missed QB Andrew Lucks' arm and he had only 501 yards from scrimmage and 5 touchdowns in 10 games in 2019. If he can stay healthy, he has some upside playing with QB Philip Rivers, but he is a boom / bust WR3 given his health concerns.
