FantasyPros
Coleman had several excellent games, but was all but irrelevant late in the year when Raheem Mostert took over as the primary back. Mostert will almost certainly lead the way in 2020, but given the turnover in 2019, Coleman could get his shot again at some point. If he does receive the lion's share of the carries in San Francisco, it's a perfect situation, as the 49ers ran the ball 51% of the time last year, second most in the league. Heading into 2020 drafts, however, Coleman is nothing more than a high-end handcuff for your bench.White derives almost all of his value from his prowess as a receiver, as he's topped 67 carries just once in his career. While his work in the passing game (218 targets, 159 receptions over the past two years) has kept him as a solid, if perhaps inconsistent, fantasy option, it's unclear if that will continue this season. He will undoubtedly remain the Patriots' passing-down back, but it's unlikely that he'll see quite the same production with Cam Newton, even with how much work Christian McCaffrey saw in the receiving game. He'll remain an option in PPR leagues and perhaps in deeper half-PPR formats, but that's about all.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Coleman is a quality back but he had his chance as San Francisco's starter and didn't deliver. Now Raheem Mostert has taken the bull by the horns and claimed the starting job while Jerrick McKinnon is on his way back. There is some upside for any RB in a Shanahan offense but more likely than not, Coleman won't help much this season.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
We know Cam can carry a pass-catching RB, as we saw him do it with CMC. However, Cam's health is questionable, his arm is questionable, and we don't know what the offense will look like. He could end up as a PPR flex option, but I'll likely try my luck elsewhere.

FantasyPros
Despite playing only 14 games last year, Coleman still finished as the RB36. He hasn't been able to recapture the magic he had in Atlanta several years ago, but he's still a fine option for your fantasy football roster. With that being said, Coleman is an intriguing hold right now in every format due to the recent news regarding Raheem Mostert. If Mostert is traded, as he has requested, Coleman becomes the de factor RB1 in Kyle Shanahan's offense. Coleman would most likely be considered a top-24 option at that point.Cam Newton's now at QB for the Patriots and he's shown a propensity for targeting pass-catching RBs. White's not going to suddenly turn into Christian McCaffrey, but he's a solid value right now in redraft ADP.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert each carried the ball 137 times in 2019, Mostert had 228 more yards rushing. @willson8tor Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert each totaled 180 receiving yards in 2019, Mostert had 33.3% fewer receptions (RM 14/22, TC 21/30). @willson8torSince the start of the 2017 season, only Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara have more RB targets than James White. Probably has quite a bit to do with Brady, but really so no reason why this won't continue with Cam or Stidham.
Bart Wheeler
Hail to Fantasy Football
Mostert isn't getting all the work with Breida gone, and Coleman actually could be the best back in this group. Up.Back into the top-40 with the addition of Cam. Could have the same/similar role as with Brady. This might be too low, especially in any sort of PPR/half PPR rankings.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Will be interesting to see who's throwing him the ball in 2020 and if Sony/Harris can get involved in the passing game/on the field(cough, cough Harris) at all. Oh great, Stidham. A impossible offense to predict which Bill probably loves. We'll just have to rely far too much on preseason because relying on what Bill normally does would be relying on him never doing what you think. White has never played a year without Brady and we'll now have to rely on Stidham for those targets. I wonder if TE gets more involved this year, with Ben Watson leading the TE group with 24 targets last year. Could potentially impact White, plus probably not being top 5 in pass ATT.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Tevin Coleman will continue the career-backup role he had last season outside two outlier 105 yard games. Raheem Mostert is so clearly the better back and while Kyle Shanahan will occasionally give the backfield over to Coleman when he has the "hot hand", Coleman really needs an injury to Mostert before you can comfortably start him in fantasy. I'll be avoiding this mess this year whenever I can help it.James White had a disappointing drop in fantasy production but somehow managed to manage a RB2 finish in half-PPR on the back of 67 rushes, 72 receptions, 908 yards and 6 TDs. He'll remain a PPR staple but lacks the true upside he once had with Jarrett Stidham at the controls. While the Auburn alum never had great RB receiving options, he showed a total disinterest in using them and this will certainly affect the 28-year-old Pat. He remains a valid weekly option but I wouldn't actually draft him at his Top 30 projection. I'd look elsewhere and suggest trying to win your league rather than avoiding losing it.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Now that Matt Breida is out of town, you'd think there's more opportunity to be had for Coleman in this backfield, but the return of Jerick McKinnon could affect that. After seeing 16-plus carries in three of his first four games with the 49ers, Coleman never got more than 12 for the remainder of the season. He's best suited for a timeshare role and somewhat of a handcuff to Raheem Mostert. If Mostert were to miss time, Coleman would likely be an every-week RB2.He's one of the trickiest evaluations in fantasy football this year, as losing Tom Brady is going to affect him in a big way. The question becomes: Just how much upside will he lose? White was never someone you relied on for RB1 or RB2 production, but he would give you spikes in production from your flex spot that could help you win a week. He's seen a massive 290 targets over the last three years, and it's extremely unlikely the Patriots have Jarrett Stidham drop back anywhere close to the number of times Brady did. Not just that, but Brady always targeted his running backs in the passing game. There are just too many questions to rely on him for anything for more than low-end RB3/high-end RB4 production.
