Although the acquisition of Odell Beckham resulted in fewer targets for Landry than he had in 2018, a case could be made that Beckham's presence helped create more openings for Landry over the middle of the field. After his yardage totals had decreased for three straight seasons, he tallied a career-high 1,174 receiving yards while topping 14 yards per catch for the first time in his career.Samuel failed to surpass five receptions in any game last season, and a 91-yard effort in Week 2 marked the only time he eclipsed 70 receiving yards. With Carolina signing Robby Anderson in March to a two-year, 20 million contract, it's no guarantee that Samuel remains the third option in the Panthers' passing game behind Christian McCaffrey and D.J. Moore.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Jarvis Landry had a remarkably effective 2019 given the mess that was the Browns offense. For so long a locked-in WR2, Landry comes with more risk this year with the implementation of the run-heavy Stefanski offence and his recovery from labrum surgery. Given the recovery timeline may extend into the season, it's reasonable to drop Landry a little down your rankings. Just remember that when fit, he's one of the safest receivers around.Curtis Samuel was everyone's favorite breakout prospect last season and although he didn't reach the lofty expectations some had for him, a WR36 finish was still solid for a player with a limited skill set. With the addition of Robby Anderson, Samuel's target share is in for a major reduction and the talk he may be on the trade block is an even worse sign. While the Panthers will have to throw a lot, Samuel is at best the 4th receiver in this offense and that limits his upside.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Did you know there have been just three wide receivers who've finished as a top-24 wide receiver in each of the last five years? Julio Jones, Mike Evans, and Landry. The way he got there in 2019 wasn't ideal (posted WR2 or better numbers just 31.3 percent of the time), but it was a horrendous offense. The issue now is that he's coming off hip surgery this offseason. While it seems like his recovery has gone well, that could be something to hold him back from being as consistent as he's been the last few years in Cleveland. Another hurdle is the limited targets that may be available in Stefanski's offense. The Vikings receivers combined for just 201 targets last year, and it would appear the Browns are trying to recreate that offense with both Austin Hooper and David Njoku in 2TE sets, while using the run game heavily. There's been just two times in Landry's career where he's finished with more than 7.0 yards per target, and he's scored more than six touchdowns just once. If he's cut down anywhere close to the 100-110-target mark, which seems very likely, it's really going to hurt his fantasy impact. Because of that, he's a WR3, and one who might be a bit dicier than in past years. There are a lot of analysts making excuses for Samuel's poor production last year, stating that his quarterback play was atrocious. While I don't disagree, there are plenty of wide receivers who've had bad quarterback play but managed to be useful. Samuel's 0.96 yards per route run in 2019 ranked dead last among the 157 wide receivers with at least 100 targets over the last five years. Heck, his teammate D.J. Moore was able to finish as the WR18. Based on the targets Samuel received and where they took place, he should have finished as the WR16. Look, I'm not saying Samuel is as bad as he was in 2019, but for him to become a reliable fantasy player, he'd have to overcome the fact that he's now the fourth-best target in the offense, behind McCaffrey, Moore, and Anderson. The Panthers also tried shopping Samuel this offseason, but ultimately held onto him. He's someone to look at during bye weeks when the Panthers are double-digit underdogs. Outside of that, you're just looking for an injury to him to become anything more than a WR5-type option.
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
Forgotten every year, and 2020 is no difference. Clean bill of health means another WR3 season is a lock.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Landry surprised many in 2019 by outperforming his fellow Browns WR, Odell Beckham Jr. What was most impressive is the fact that even in a crowded offense, Landry put up a career-high 1,174 receiving yards. While I do expect OBJ to bounce-back, I still think there are enough targets to go around to make Landry a solid flex option in PPR formats.Leading up to the 2019 season, all anyone wanted to talk about was Curtis Samuel and how he would be the WR to own in Carolina. Well, that didn't exactly work out. It was D.J. Moore who stole the spotlight and now the Panthers went out and signed deep threat Robby Anderson. I like Samuel as a talent but I don't think there will be enough targets to go around to make him a reliable weekly starter.

Landry should assume the Stefon Diggs role in this Kevin Stefanski offense now in Cleveland. There's not going to be exorbitant amount of targets to go around, but OBJ and Landry will see plenty to be relevant for fantasy football. Every single year, Landry has outperformed his ADP and I expect him to do it yet again this season. He's a fine WR2 option for your roster every single week.Samuel's got the talent to be a factor for fantasy football, but it simply hasn't translated to on-the-field production. Now, Samuel has competition for targets with Robby Anderson in town and there's a chance that Samuel is fourth on this team in targets. With that being the case, Samuel's unlikely to return consistent fantasy production this season.

Just had his most efficient season. Career high in yards, and yards per reception. Hasn't been under 130 targets since his rookie season. King of the 1100 yard, 5 TD season. The coaching has changed but barring additional weapons I think he'll still be your trusty WR3(Hello Hooper). Wasn't effected by Hunt's presence. 8.875 targets with/8.3 without. Hooper could present a problem as the each gained most of their targets over the same area of the field last year.If I told you this WR had 108/1236/11 would you be interested? Now what if I told you that was in 3 years? Has trended upwards for 3 years in a row. Deep targets were infamously inaccurate last year. That made him rather terrible for fantasy football. He was miscast, running a 9 route over 1/4 of the time That situation has now been rectified with the addition of Robby Anderson. I think Samuel's chances at fading into a WR3 forever are just as likely as some kind of breakout. Most players don't have a Devante Parker like resurgence after years of being mediocre. They turn into Phillip Dorsett, an 83rd percentile sparq-x athlete who had greater college production and breakout age than Samuel, while also being a 4.3 guy we just can't let go of. However, I went back to watch all his deep incomplete passes myself for 2019. The majority were inaccurate. Sometimes the QB had to release the ball early because of the rush. Others, Samuel was out positioned, or not big enough to go up and get it. He also some just flat drops, but all of those happening were in the minority of what was happening on his deep looks. Fighting for targets underneath with DJ Moore will be no easier than trying to catch deep passes from Kyle Allen, but he'll at least have more accurate balls coming from Teddy Bridgewater, while having great, to elite numbers against man coverage 2 years in a row to give himself a great opportunity in this new offense.

After Cam Newton was injured, Panthers WRs saw a catchable deep ball on only 25% of targets (14/56), via PFF. During Teddy Bridgewater's five starts, Saints WRs saw catchable deep balls on 62% of targets (8/13). @pat_thorman

Low volume pass-attack expected under Stefanski. Landry's efficiency should be solid, but the ceiling is definitely lower, despite his yearly consistency, just don't see any path to a big ceiling here.Joe Brady preaches speed and getting it in space... and Curtis Samuel might just be the perfect man for the job. Back aboard the hype train, even with Robby A added.

Landry was the better fantasy player over OBJ, finishing with 1,184 yards from scrimmage and 6 touchdowns. That is a big reason there was a coaching change in Cleveland and I would expect OBJ to be the more targeted player in 2020 with Landry being more of a WR3.
