Hail to Fantasy Football
I actually think Baker might be able to support two top-12 WRs. Now with Duke Johnson gone, I think some of those targets could go to Jarvis. He's creeping back near my top-20 WRs.His hype train is losing steam. Down a few spots.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Landry should be much more efficient with WR OBJ there to take the defensive attention off of him. He is a WR3 talent that should be much more productive if he is allowed to play in the slot.Pettis is looking like he will emerge as the 49ers top wide receiver and he should have solid WR3 value this year.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Landry was a disappointment last year, though it's worth noting that his average depth of target was significantly higher than he averaged with the Dolphins. But after Freddie Kitchens took over, Landry's target share was relatively minimal-about 20%-when you consider that he was legitimately the only game in town. But the upside is that with Odell Beckham Jr. in tow and Nick Chubb looking like a breakout candidate, defenses likely won't focus nearly as much on Landry. That puts him at roughly a WR3 with WR2 upside, but there seems to be little chance for stardom.Pettis is on plenty of breakout lists this year, after he came on strong at the end of his rookie campaign last season. But the early reports this preseason have been somewhat discouraging. Nowhere was that more evident than in the 49ers' first preseason game against the Cowboys, during which the vast majority of the starters sat out but which Pettis started and played 17 snaps. With Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd having good camps, it sounds like Pettis will need to pick things up to even lock down a starting role. Still, this could all be a motivational ploy by Kyle Shanahan, so don't downgrade Pettis too much just yet. But at this point, the situations is worth monitoring.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Jarvis Landry underwhelmed entirely last season, checking in at 11th in True Target Value but failing to be anything more than a fringe WR3. If he's more efficient this season, he will return value. However, there is certainly a valid argument to be made that he's just been a volume-based WR throughout his career.Shanahan traded up for Pettis and once he became the WR1, he put up double digit points from weeks 12 - 15. Pettis also put up those numbers with the 38th ranked true target value, showing that he exceeded expectations given his QB and targets. With Jimmy G, his TTV would have been 26th, so he's looking like a legit WR2.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Landry finally does not have to be the oft targeted WR1. Only produced 81/976 on 148 targets, grossly inefficient. Was 40th in yards after the catch, which is supposed to be his forte. Was a WR3 despite receiving the 7th most targets of all receivers last season. Should be decent but the ceiling isn't there.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Despite no Josh Gordon and no Odell Beckham Jr. on the team last year, Landry finished as the WR19 despite playing all 16 games and seeing 149 targets. That was the eighth-most targets among receivers and the 27th-most points per game. Not exactly efficient, and Freddie Kitchens actually dialed back his targets when he took over. With Beckham in the mix, look for Landry to move down into the 120-target range, which is still valuable, but he's more of a WR3 than he is a WR2He didn't start for the 49ers right away, which was somewhat puzzling, but when Pettis got onto the field, he flashed a bit. It was Week 10 when Pettis turned into a full-time player, and from then until Week 16, he was the No. 20 wide receiver in fantasy, with Nick Mullens as his quarterback. The 49ers did add Deebo Samuel in the draft, but as we saw with Pettis, there's no guarantee he'll be a starter right away. Even if so, Jimmy Garoppolo returning to the lineup should only help his consistency in fantasy lineups
Sean Koerner
The Action Network
could benefit from Odell. Baker spreads ball around
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Landry saw 149 targets last year and did next to nothing with them. Now that Odell Beckham is in town, Landry should become nothing more than a weekly flex play.Kyle Shanahan has an excellent history with receivers like Pettis who are supreme route runners. In fact, with Jimmy G returning under center, Pettis has an outside shot at 100 receptions. There is some risk as there are plenty of weapons and unknowns, but in the 7th round you could do much worse with your WR3.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Landry is an extremely safe pick, but he lacks any real upside unless injuries were to occur. Landry has a career 10.4 yards per reception, and has been held to 5 or fewer TD's in 4/5 years. Of course anyone could get lucky, but it's less than ideal drafting players who need luck to pay off. The addition of Odell is great for the offense, will sustain drives, and lead to more TD's. So while he's likely to see less overall targets, it might not be that many less, and there will be the most scoring opportunities he's seen in his career. I'm ok drafting Landry in full and half PPR leagues, but I would avoid him in leagues that still use standard scoring. He's not a target, but also not an avoid. Just a guy you can draft if the value presents itself.I love Pettis this season. Everything went wrong for the 49ers last season and he was still able to post respectable numbers while he was healthy. Pettis is now the cleat #1 WR on an ascending offense, with an above average QB. He averaged 14 half PPR points per game over the last 5 weeks after he finally looked healthy, and that's as a rookie. I do think that the 49ers want to run the ball a good amount this season, but assuming Jimmy G looks good in camp…then they have plenty of weapons to feature the pass. This isn't a situation where Pettis is the only option and so teams can sell out on him. Kittle is going to be the main focus of defenses, but they also get McKinnon back, they signed Coleman…who looks like he's going to have a role in the passing game. Pettis is going to be the top targeted WR, and teams will not be able to shift the defense to stop him. He's a great target in the middle rounds of drafts.
